You haven't debated anything. In fact this is the first time you have even brought up the topic since we have reengaged in this conversation. Everything you said has been tired insults and nonsense.
Of course Bungie can do as they please. It's the wrong choice, and the reasons I stated that you outright ignored is why.
A mute character that is supposed to be a us, is not really a character now is it? Come on, you can do it. I has faith.

"Of course Bungie can do as they please. It's the wrong choice, and the reasons I stated that you outright ignored is why." Are you brain dead? Do you not know the difference between fact and opinion? "its the wrong choice".... THIS IS YOUR OPINION. I didn't ignore what you stated, I just acknowledged it as your OPINION and then stated my own. He is mute, because the devs cannot put your voice into the game now could they? I just don't think you understand what I am saying. Yes, the character is mute in game..... SO THAT WHEN YOU ARE AT HOME, YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN DIALOGUE. Its simple really. What you want, is to play AS someone else. I want to feel as if the guardian IS me. Its okay, you will catch up one day. Until then, Its impossible for me to dumb myself down to your level. You think too simplistically.

Make my own dialogue? LOL, How should I go about that exactly? Should I have a little pen and notepad next to my controller, stop playing and draw little stick figures with word bubbles? Do you hear yourself?
-
Lets see: Here is what you want: Your guardian after an encounter with Cabal Mcdouche Face " Wow, that was one ugly SOB" ... walks away with gun over shoulder into a sunset Here is what I am suggesting.... You, while at home, say something like "Wow, that cabal boss I just slayed is one ugly SOB" You want a voice in game. I am saying that with your imagination, you can fill in the story yourself.

Edited by Scorpius XX1: 7/30/2017 1:55:03 AMBy..talking..to...myself..... And no..just because I want the character I'm playing to speak doesn't mean I want that character to have bad dialogue. You understand there is good writing and there is bad writing right? Maybe I am simplistic in regards to this issue, perhaps that's because this is simple to understand. Maybe you are over complicating something that doesn't need to be.

As opposed to not talking at all? Sure, sounds wonderful. Anyways. I am done here. You have your opinion, and I have mine. Gooday.

I'm going to try one last time. I don't know why, You are rude, obtuse, and unwilling to listen to opposing viewpoints. But I feel like this needs to be explained one last time. I won't comment again after this. Even if I were to take what you are suggesting seriously, and speak out loud to my screen when one of those awkward pauses presents themselves after our Guardian is spoken to by Ghost or anyone else. How would I even know my response would be the correct one in terms of the stories context or what is being discussed? Perhaps that isn't what was supposed to be said, but even if it were, they are not going to directly respond back to anything I say anyway, because they can't. Communication requires two parties, not one. If they can't communicate with me, and I can't communicate with them, then what they say matters less, and what I say matters less, because it's not providing any outcome. Another issue with your thinking is you say, '' Use your imagination.'' which of course we do. We use it to suspend disbelief in order to take these worlds seriously to begin with. What we don't do, and what we should not do, is write the story for them while we play. Yes some things can be assumed, that's part of the fun, however the outcome has already been predetermined and only needs to reach conclusion by playing. If you start going in all sorts of different directions with your imagination one is surely to be disappointed by the climax, because usually they never turn out the way one thinks it would in their own head. This is why THEY need to tell the story, and this is why one needs to be led through it. Not the other way around. What you say makes sense in the end game, not in the games story mode. Having characters whose only reaction to what's going on around them is soulless cartoon violence , makes them one dimensional and uninteresting. What does make them interesting is when they express thoughts, ideas, opinions, reactions. Things that we can't do because we are not literally there. No one is angry about it, just disappointed. When Luke Smith is asked about this and he just gives a one word answer it gives the impression that the story is no big deal once more, and they just want to get players to the end game. And if they don't give a shit about their own story by taking the time to write just a few bits of basic dialogue for Guardians, not even complicated, basic, then why should I care? Why should anyone? Why should anyone care about the Cabal, Gary, or anything that's threatening the Traveler? Why should anyone care when it's just a matter of pressing buttons and pulling right trigger until you get enough loot to raid? This is basic storytelling. Protagonists speak, they have thoughts, they express. What good does it do for npcs to dish out needless exposition to the players alone when it's pretty freaking easy to figure out what's going on, shoot alien bad guys. No that's boring, we already know what's going on, what we don't know is what our Guardians think about what is going on. Players can't identify with rocks. Now I have tried to be patient with this conversation. I have tried to hear you out, despite the fact that nothing you suggest makes any sense. When we read books, we don't keep a notepad next to us and try to write out the next chapter before we read it. Same with tv and movies, same with games. It is not for us to try and write the story for them, that's why we pay them the money, so they can take US on a journey. So we can be immersed in their world. This burden falls on them, THEY ARE THE CREATORS in this scenario. We are not required to fill in the blanks, nor should we even if we wanted to. A good storyteller doesn't want the reader or the viewer, or the player to figure out what's going to happen, or to make it up on their own. A good storyteller wants to surprise, delight, and provoke thought. This is done by extension though the protagonist. This is the tool creators use to lure people into their world, not the scenery, or the location, or the other people, or the antagonist, we are viewing the world through the eyes of the protagonist. The main character, and the main character in Destiny is our playable Guardian. Understand? If the protagonist in a story is dull, mute and spastic, more often than not it's going to make for a pretty bland story. Which this one no doubt will be. Gary kicks my Guardian in the face and his only reaction is a derp face? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...................... Getting the picture? Hope you can read this objectively and take something useful out of it. All I can say is that I tried. Peace.

Are you able to form words with your mouth and speak out loud?

My God you're serious...
