Especially when your company grossed 6 BILLION alone last year.
Face it. We're in for the same connection shit storm that plagued both pvp and pve. But hey atleast we have in game match making and treasure hunts!
Edit: Trending, yay
Edit: Still trending. Coz baby let's get pizza
Edit: can y'all please start using some logic for your argument? It's 2017 there's literally no excuse for your stupidity anymore.

Dedicated servers would be great, but I don't need them to have fun in the game.

Well they obviously decided the cost wasn't worth the possible gain. They probably think enough people won't give enough of a shit to not buy, and I don't doubt that they're right.

12 RepliesEdited by Scorpius XX1: 5/20/2017 4:16:32 PMYeah there kind of is though. It's called a cost/benefit breakdown. I know this may come as a shock to a lot of people, but most business's are out to make money, not lose money. And companies have shareholders to answer to, not just consumers. Speaking of consumers, that's where you come in. Don't like the product they are selling, think the quality is poor, etc, etc, don't invest in it. Now I'm not suggesting you don't have an argument or a legitimate concern, but you guys act like Bungie and Activision are simply sitting around in their Scrooge Mcduck vaults counting gold coins and laughing their asses off at players. It's nonsense. There is a business aspect to this, another side that I think most of you fail to appreciate.

3 Repliesbad connections in pve????? ive never experienced bad connections is pve.
-
In an interview with ign they mentioned they will focus on connection above everything else. Will it fix everything? No, but it's at least a step
-
Let you money do the talking. 1. Don't buy D2 2. If you bought it - ask for a refund.
-
1 ReplyOn PC is it possible to set up your own dedicated server?:P
-
-
Honestly don't care. I know I don't have a lot of play time compared to other year one guardians ( took a break during most of year 2 ) but I haven't had much server problems. I remember in year one I would get once every they week just a day I couldn't play because it kept on weasling me

1 ReplyThere is no excuse for just removing pvp from destiny! Just left that shit behind!
-
3 RepliesIs it official or just horseshit people are shouting without knowing anything?

Edited by Jeff the Cabal: 5/20/2017 5:42:22 PMI'm gonna wait until I get my hands on the game.. but the main thing I was disappointed about was the no dedicated servers. There's no reason to be running 2007 technology on a AAA games on next gen consoles. It's been a decade old. ptp connection shouldn't even exist at this point.
-
Not having dedicated servers sucks, but they did say they were gonna use CBMM which i hope they do. Im gonna hold them to it.
-
Orrr red bars get their own lobby yellow bars get their own lobby and greens all stay together. That or just make it like cod to where if you lag even a little you die.
-
8 RepliesI'm guessing their reasoning is that they can save a ton of money and that the majority of people who are unhappy about it will play anyway. Also, 6 billion gross is nice but i don't know what that looks like after you pay your 500 something employees and whatever other expenses you have. I'm not thrilled but it's really far from being a dealbreaker for me.
-
Meh. Not a big deal IMO.
-
Says who exactly? Who are you?
-
1 Replygetting dedicated servers would be expensive. bungie would probably be fine with dedicated servers, but activision would probably flip.
-
Agree completely
-
Activision, like most companies, likes making money. They know you'll buy Destiny 2 regardless of whether they add dedicated servers or not, so why add them?
-
I would like to see PVP become a more consistent experience game to game. The lag definitely detracts from the FUN factor. I don't know why they aren't bringing Dedicated Servers along with D2. Only guess is that from a profit perspective Bungie figures they will still make half a billion or so on D2 so why spend money to make the game better. It's all about the revenue derived through sales and micro transactions. Bungie was once the gaming company for the player. Now Bungie is strictly a money whore for Activision.
-
1 ReplyEdited by theNOOBkiller: 5/20/2017 8:36:01 PMI don't seem to have issues with lag so I am saying this in an objectively neutral standpoint. If Destiny 2 has all the micro-transactions that the first one had, they should be able to get dedicated servers as the revenue from micro-transactions FAR exceed the negligible amount to keep dedicated servers running.

3 RepliesThey say its because the consoles '"cant handle our game at 60fps" I say its because they would need to make 2 different copies, one for the regular ps4 and xbone, and another for scorpio and pro. Thats my opinion anyway.
-
I would guess profits haven't shown a need for it, why spend more for the same return on investment.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Kreis: 5/20/2017 6:02:17 PMThey didn't feel it was worth it to make the investment. There is an excuse, your opinion just feels that that excuse isn't good enough. Also- secondly.. Will you still play it regardless? Yes. Yes you will. Then is it worth it to waste money on servers when you'll play regardless of their quality? No. It's not.
