Skyrim: Vampire or Werewolf?

Vampire

40

Werewolf

107

Neither

29

So I'm doing a fresh play through, right now I'm level seventeen. I have Serana as my follower 'cause she's bae, but I'm unsure if I want her to turn me, go do the companion quest like, or just stay how I am.

  • It doesn't matter. Werewolf has no downsides, vampire makes you ugly and you get a few neat but pretty useless powers.

      • Well you can get vampirism cured by that mage in Morthal and you can becime a werewolf again by asking Aela so just try both and pick your favourite.

      • This is why we have multiple characters (and saves). My heavy armoured Nord lass ruts with the Companions while my Dark Elf mage prowls the night as a (excuse the overused reference) -blam!--mothering Vampire Lord.

      • I wish I could become a vampire. I'm stuck in the bloodline quest where I have to take Serana back home, but the old fûck won't recognize Serana, so I can't continue without the quest line. Any help?

      • Shooting the sun with an arrow to turn it to dark is pretty awesome.

      • Becoming a vampire and then choosing the perk Necromage in the restoration skill line makes all your spells more powerful and they last 50% longer. Plus your enchantments will be much stronger along its your potions.

Vamp, especially considering how many perks are affected by being a Vampire. Most forms of magic get a 25% buff, as well as most active magic effects. This becomes insanely OP at high levels. Perks in the alteration tree such as atronach (absorb up to 30% magicka when you get hit with a spell) are affected as well, everything basically gets bumped up. I'd look it up on YouTube for specifics but any magic playing file would benefit immensely from being a Vamp. Bretons, for example, can take the atronach stone effect to build up their magic resistance. If you are a Breton Vampire you automatically resist 40% of any negative spell directed at you.

Eventually, you'll have to go through the Soul Cairn so when that comes around just let her turn you into a vampire to make it easier.
In regards to both transformations, Falion can cure you of vampirism while finishing the Companions' quest will allow you to cure your 'werewolfism'. Just make sure that when you go to kill the Glenmoril Witches/Hagravens make sure to take all of their heads and hold onto them, that way you can be cured multiple times.

Personally, I'd put things on hold, do the Companions' quest and level up a bit more and go on with Serana's story afterwards. There's really no rush. Just make sure not to get caught up with 57 subquests like I did when doing it. Makes traversing the map much easier.
• Eventually you become strong enough that becoming a werewolf actually makes you weaker

        • Depends, if you like creating havoc and chaos and you should become a vampire because you need to feed on people to keep the game easy so you won't get attacked.

          • For my dark elf assassin it makes sense to go vampire. For any big heavy armor wearing Nord I always go werewolf.

            • Vampire lord ability is the most overpowered thing in the game

            • From my experience werewolf is really powerful and really easy to level up, just go though a bandit camp kill everyone then transform until you get some perks into it then you can just kill everyone. And if you get the ring from the dadric lord you can use it whenever you feel like it.
