Ever since they decided to change trials from year one and make it "win" based, there has been one huge issue that has plagued teams every weekend. If you are a good player, but maybe not the top 1%, you do this routine like I did all year two and continue to do in year three.
It's the get to 6 wins and then get matched with teams that should be competing (and maybe do) professionally on the MLG circuit. We can go flawless 6 wins with a little effort, but on the 7th game, play teams with 2.0kd's or better with 2000+ ELO's. Why is that? What is it in this matchmaking system that creates this WALL? Something is desperately wrong with the trials matchmaking system and has been for a long time. I've spoken to enough people that have said the exact same thing; they compete until they the "the wall" as its referred to, or the "sweaty wall". It is just that. We go from playing competitive games to getting 5-0'd for our mercy and 3 remaining losses. Wtf is going on?
Don't tell me to git gud shit either. I'll just say learn how to spell. I've put months of steady gameplay into crucible and playing crucible since launch and because I started off poorly for a long time, my kd doesn't accurately reflect how I play today. I'm 1.10-1.15 on characters as a whole, but on the new crucible game modes in a 1.87kd. If I deleted my characters and started over I'd be looking at more like a 1.5-1.7 or even higher. I can play.
I've worked so hard to compete and one of my friends is pretty damn good with a 1.7kd, but that doesn't keep us from hitting that 7th win, sweaty as kicking that comes with every run. I'm am really hoping that bungie truly does want people to play and enjoy Pvp, enough so, that they'll take a hard look at who is winning, who's even contending and who should and shouldn't be.
Year one was fun. Year two was a -blam!-ing drag. Didn't go flawless once, despite hours/days/months of grinding to get good, or at least get better. It doesn't make sense to go 6-0 every time only to spend the next four games being huge losses feeling like we didn't even stand a chance. Hey, I appreciate that level of skill. I do. They are great and good for them, but why are they the only ones that can see the lighthouse? If you're not good at crucible, I get it, but a lot of good teams won't ever see it due the few great ones that keep it from happening. I don't want a handout...just a tweak to the matchmaking.
Ps As usual, when someone makes a post regarding anything having to do with trials, the hate comes heavy. People are missing my point. I know only the best should go. I'm only wondering why games (played on a win based card) are always played out the same. 6 wins, basically no problem. On that 7th win, which is so important, we face teams that I like to watch on utube. Why the "sudden jump" it's not gradual is what I'm saying. It's a wall. This post isn't even about flawless you elite jerkoffs, it's just about that elusive 7th win. Don't worry, I don't want your -blam!-ing crown, just a 7th win.

1 ReplyDude, I don't play pvp much at all. I have a .90 k/d Due to the stupid trials crap in the book I grabbed 2 of my pvp buddies. I didn't want to just jump off for the card complete. Want to the lighthouse on all 3 characters. The hardest matches for me seemed to always be the 3rd. I had terrible games each card on the 3rd match. My teammates somewhat carries me during those.
