Whenever people argue about the crucible or how well you did at something kd always shows up. Well guess what, it proves nothing. Whenever people say stuff like "says guy with .8 kd" that doesn't immediately prove I suck. It could mean I only get stuck with red bar warriors. It could mean I am genuinely bad at a single part of the game. Or, it just means I hate PvP and stopped playing after having some bad matches. Personally, I never bought Destiny for the PvP. I bought it so I could murder aliens with my friends, not watch my favorite weapons get nerfed into submission and face a cruel, lag-filled version of Edge of Tomorrow. So, stop thinking you're some kind of PvP God because other people don't have good kds. After all, they are nothing more than a number on a screen.
By the way, git gud is a sh!tty argument because I don't care how good I am, I'm just saying don't think you're so much better because you have a different number on a screen.

2 Replies1.0 and up is average, if lower they have no opinion for pvp. PVE scrubs constantly crying for nerfs.

You could go 8-10 but how many assists did you have? Does take much for those assists the be kills and suddenly now you are a 15-10 player. Also if this skill based match making thing is real, then you should be getting paired against players of your skill. Which means ultimately your kill death ratio will push towards 1.0 as the skill based match making rating settles down. Kind of hard to worry about kd when the system is designed to over time push you into a 1.0 kd ratio.

2 RepliesMy all time KD sucks but all my last 30 days are all 1.0 or above

Even more the reason to have casual and competitive playlist. Problem is people are to much stat freaks. Some are cool about it most others are total dicks. But with a broken game how can you truly tell what your kd is actually is. a person with a .8 kd might not actually have a .8kd with lag walls one shotting you hit detection problems could be more like 1.2kd or so. or maybe worst.
-
At this point I don't even have to bother checking. I know your kd is trash

Let me explain how OP is right with an example. I have thousands of examples but this is the most recent one. Me and 3 friends hop into classic 6v6. Im playing striker titan(without broken as jug) and i havent played a 6v6 gamemode or titan in like 5 months. I then run into a team of 6 all with 2.3 to 3.0 kds who only pubstomp. I knew some of them. One of them has barely played the game at all and only pubstompes with his friend. I then equip a standard vendor hawksaw and a green sidearm from the gunsmith. I dont use heavy. I get a 3 kd against them with 6 captures and a defending of the zone against 3 people medal(the other players on my team combined had 2 captures so i pkayed the objective way more) and 25 kill with almost 5k score. I was not trying in the slightest. Instead i was smoking a joint and laying back in my chair very relaxed. They tried their hard out with god roll grasps/matador 64s and thorns. Lol.

1 ReplyEdited by Br8veKnight25: 7/3/2016 12:27:14 AMLol if there was a way to look at k/d more in depth bet many players are getting quite a few kills off supers as opposed to weapons. It should have its own spot not entered into kills to deaths pool. Doesn't make you "good" sorry to burst your bubble.

1 ReplyEdited by Angelus-B-: 7/3/2016 10:40:35 AMKD is meaningless, especially in this game. It's not a true reflection on skill, ability to overcome lag and broken weapons / subclass perks. Personally speaking I hadn't played an online multiplayer fps before, sure I'd played Killzone, Halo, original CoD, Battlefield ect (I'm 37 and used to playing mmo, RPG, racing games) but I never saw the interest in pvp. So I spent most of year 1 and a good part of early year 2 helping friends and folk from lfg with exotic bounties. I played the odd game now and then, but got shredded alot by Thorn (it still burns) and struggled to get to grips with pvp until around mid HoW. So it'd be fair to say my kd by TTK was around 0.6/0.7 and that's no exaggeration, but then I got quickly bored with raids ect and though I enjoy Destiny, needed another challenge, so I began running pvp and taking it more seriously and last night it finally paid off, I managed to get my Warlocks KD upto 1.0. Now to the veteran or whiny scrub, that may not seem that good, but think of it this way, in order to get my kd up from 0.6 to 1.0 I had to go positive alot regularly, I've had 17.0 and 18.0 matches, I've regularly went 2.0+ but for awhile it's not mattered because my overall still was under 1.0 So overall kd means nothing, because it doesn't show a players true level and improvement.
-
The only way I see kd is to track my improvement. I started out this game with about a .6 kd in crucible. It was my first shooter, and I was god awful at it. But I improved, and it is now a 1.1. Don't take it seriously when people comment things like
Your argument is invalid bc under 1.0 kd
The majority of people will still take your argument seriously. Also, thid rarely ends up affecting people actually in game, so it's pointless to worry.

8 RepliesIronically, as expected, your k/d is under 1.0 Seriously, i'm waiting for the day someone makes a post like this that has a k/d of 1.5+

Your kd sucks so I'm better

PvP on this game is just really messed up mate. The lag and inconsistency sometimes can be too much to handle for me. Iron banner is kinda fun, by that I mean the gear you get is usually very decent. So many better PvP games to be playing at the mo: over watch, black ops, and battlefield. Would be my recommendations
-
6 Replies2.04 kd vs your .83. Git gud scrub, your statement is automatically invalid, and you have no argument because your kd is negative.

4 RepliesEdited by k78478k: 7/2/2016 5:50:12 PMHonestly just hop on Overwatch if you want PvP, truly an awesome game. Paragon is excellent too if you're into MOBA games!

1 ReplyHonestly for me KD is pretty meaningless in this game currently. Over time so many matches with lag & red bars that typically dominate and score high KD's makes it hard to believe if those players are truly good or not. If "red bar" actually took damage like everyone else would they have scored so high? We've all seen these players in matches and more than likely asked the same every time. It's really a shame b/c there are good players with KD's and stats they worked hard to obtain. Until Bungie applies dedicated servers, better matchmaking, & ranked playlists this games pvp stats aren't the most reliable. Just my opinion
-
I posted my opinion on the iron banner level advantages and I said that I was being out gunned by 305's. Which should rarely happen. I end up getting told git gud by 90% of the replies , shit talk, and people using KD to justify their argument Some people have some real shitty lives.

There are a lot of factors that can decide whether a player is good or not. There is a point to be made for objective players, assisting etc. However, in Destiny there aren't any game modes apart from Zone Control where you win solely by playing the objective (CTF style gamemodes). Most of the time, you win by killing your opposition more times than they kill you. Hence why K/D is valued quite highly. However, you must also factor in Score per Minute, or similar measurements. Good players generally tend to have high Score per Minute values and high K/Ds. When you see a high SPM, high K/D player, that means they are consistently playing well and they tend to have a better idea of the state of the meta, viability of weapons etc.

16 RepliesEdited by l MonsterZero l: 7/2/2016 8:06:44 PMOne thing that interests me is the top 1 percent always has an explanation on how to get more kills or saying, "hey, I remember year one when we can kill 30 40 and 50 in a match". What about instead of getting kills, how about survivability? Also, I'm not a fan of the scoring system in Crucible. I think it's unfair and it doesn't truly reward the better player. Let me see if I can explain.. Mind you, both guys start at the same time. A)This guy gets 23 kills 15 deaths. 1.53k/d B)This guy gets 12 kills 02 deaths. 6.0 k/d For some reason, the scoring system will make guy A 1st and guy B 2nd. That just doesn't look right to me. If I was making a team and I had these two guys to pick from and I seen their records, I'm picking guy B every single time. And its because of his survivability. I feel that protecting your deaths is just as important as getting the kill. They are not more or less important from one another. That line in the middle of the K and the D, it represents balance, yin and yang. What do you guys think? Do you guys agree? btw OP, numbers matter...sorry. EDIT - So let me get this straight, guy B gets 12 kills, 2 deaths, you're automatically labeling a camper sniping in the back or a guy that runs all the time, but if he got 12 kills zero deaths, I'm pretty sure that's called an unbreakable. So all because he died twice....wow. Just wow...smh.

1 ReplyStop using arguements to justify your KD Fixed it for you.
-
Beings people have figured out how to manipulate sbmm it's kind of meaningless if it's not straight up. Anyone can play on a fire team full of really bad people and have easy matches. That's going to pad your stats
-
K/D is the ratio of how many people you kill vs how many times you die. That's what it means, no more, no less. It's math.

6 RepliesWere all subjected to red bar warriors and other nonsense. In fact, the higher your skill level.. the less players around you to match... and the more red bar warriors you come across. Me having over a 2.0 doesnt mean im better than everyone below me with under a 2.0. And just because some people have a 2.5 or higher doesnt mean theyre better than me. All that being said, if I have over a 2.0 and you have under a 1.0.... im probably going to perform better than you 9 times out of 10. You can have good games occasionally just the same as I can have bad games. The difference is that im far more consistent at having really good games. Ive had 1.2 kd players trash talk me saying im bad blablabla. I tell them I have double their kd and the first thing they like to say is that kd doesnt matter. Once we match up, i always tend to prove them wrong.
-
KD don't mean shit in a P2P world. Dedicated, properly setup servers is where that really matters.

If you're good at PvP and another is better in stats who would you listen to? You can't be this retarded op.
