The more skilled players where playing them, not because they are an OP clad but because people that were playing them are generally more skilled, I'm not saying I'm super skilled, tbh I'm a fairly mediocre player but seriously... Just because people that are skilled play them doesn't mean you need to destroy the subclass.
Take a look at the new KD ratio of subclasses and hunters will have a slightly similar KD.
Edit: sorry that English is not my first language. If this was being typed in French you wouldn't find a single grammer error

Yeah because in vanilla blade dancer took so much skill to use

16 RepliesIt's because they are super easy to use.

2 RepliesI have pretty much the same kd on every character

I find this claim false because I main titan, and before they nerfed hunter I was strictly on hunter for pvp, and could compete far better in 3v3s than my titan can. Not to bash other subclasses, but let's be honest, nightstalker was dumb crazy stupid op. Like sunbreaker was mad op, it was nerfed. As for gunslinger I have no words, that was completely unnecessary.
-
I am just waiting till they nerf the other classes which by the way there will be changes that don't even need to happen. This literally happens every nerf I am tempted to make a post showing the history of nerf complaints and then people mocking the ones who were nerfed. Remember sunsinger nerfs in year one? Remember Sun Breakers? I could rant a while on how much this community wants to strangle each other especially for the fact that people get Death Threat messages... Though they are a little funny So I'll see you guardians next nerf, because they won't stop anytime soon. Any guesses for who is going to be under the chopping block? One last thing before I go, I am not "salty" because I main hunter. Frankly this patch wasn't that bad saying my overall K/D is slowly improving.

3 RepliesI think it was because we had all around strong subclasses. Bladedancers had 1 good grenade & gunslingers had 2. Both had a good melee with 2 good melee abilities. Blink was worthless so that nerf was a bad idea imo, now control jump is definitively THE hunter jump. Quickdraw is life & gunslingers trance is useful. & the supers were pretty good in the right situation. Now bladedancer has had every grenade & melee ability nerfed, throwing knives more are inconsistent than ever, & bladedancer is even easier to shut down/ avoid.
-
3 RepliesThey used to be OP, so everyone gravitated towards them that was competitive. Now the classes are balanced but I agree most of the best players play hunter because they're used to it, maybe now Titans are actually slightly better
-
Edited by sneakerkingz: 7/1/2016 4:39:59 PMHunters are the best for Pvp. Blade and gunslinger primarily focus towards pvp. Blade has quickdraw and the ability slide further aka kneepads and Gunslinger has perks to increase stability and a perk for fast reload including more.

8 RepliesHigh k/d due to EZ mode class.

1 ReplyThe reason(I would say ) that hunters are the top choice for "skilled" pvp players is because there abilities focus around weapons, (like your primary/secondary). They have a strong neural game and give advantages in firefight encounters and pay more like your average cod character. The other classes are built around there abilities. Titans have sc, juggernaut, ect. Things that make the game more fun, but are not necessarily the best choice for sweating your ass off in pvp. This is why in pve hunters were really only good for invisible reviving, and celestial night hawk gg, until tether came in. While hunters were shooting there guns, titans are running around with shields or giving a flying knee to a hive wizard And warlocks are wiping entire squads.

1 Replyyes more player choose the hunter so the amount of skill player is higher than in the other two classes

Just... so many facts here, backed up by so much hard evidence. You're the analyst of our generation.

1 ReplyI'm just here to see op get rekt in the comments.

1 ReplyEdited by TiiDDii: 6/30/2016 9:30:46 PMAlso we were the WEAKEST class y1 for PVE. Who the hell needed a hunter in VoG without tether? Our perks are better for pvp, compared to Titans and Warlocks. It only makes sense for us to claim our throne for pvp.

Players gravitate towards things that gets kills. You will have a hard time being able to argue against that basic premise of an online game. When the Mythoclast was overpowered, people used it. When the Suros was the top gun, people used it...evidenced by the very first Iron Banner when that's all you saw. When the Thorn was the top gun, people abused it in Trials. When the hammer titan was reigning supreme, people had to deal with teams running 3 Sunbreakers. The top players don't choose Hunters because they all made some secret pact to choose that class... they choose it because it has more advantages than disadvantages. Average players, choose it because it has advantages. Because the reality is, if a Voidwalker was the best class, it would be abused. When the Sunbreaker was scorching everything, it was abused. Golden guns & blade dancers had significant advantages in Year 1 over the other 4 subclasses, that's why the KDRs are higher.

1 ReplyWatch top-tier players who are also content creators on YouTube like TrueVanguard, they'll all tell you that you should use the meta if you want to stay competitive. They'll say that you should always use the best of the best if you're trying to win, and not to feel guilty about it. Not that I disagree, in fact I agree wholeheartedly. However, that's why top-tier players prefer Hunters. They're overall the friendliest, most consistently powerful class in PvP.

5 RepliesOn the graph it's a 0.05 kd difference lol. It's not enough for a major nerf in my eyes.
-
10 RepliesThey had a better KD since they are so easy to use. Don't even try telling me it's not. The first time I used Hunter in the Crucible activated Bladedancer murdered the entire team. What did I do? Spammed the button.
-
1 ReplyThey are the most easy class to use which is why more 50% of the player base are hunters
-
1 ReplyCurrent meta is titans. Can't wait for Bungo to strike again. FeelGoodMan
-
1 Replywow so now we have subclasses META ,my god wtfck is going on with this game, just because lord saladin is a titan doesnt mean u have to burry every other class in the game,
-
6 RepliesDo you really think it's just coincidence that the most skilled players were all playing hunters? They were playing hunters because hunters gave them a competitive advantage over playing the other classes.
-
Ya but why were the "top" players using hunters in the first place over other classes? Because they have always dominated the PvP realm . This is the first time I've seen Titans so far on top since the third subclass was first introduced ......I can still see those fiery hammers flying towards me in my sleep. I'm not saying hunters made them the top players , I'm just saying that top players alot of the time will pick whatever is the best choice. Which in this case was hunters, which is exactly what bungie has been trying to avoid with all of these changes . They want to balance things out , they want it to were you can pick any class and do well, not just one class that is everyone's go to for PvP .
