our team waits 10secs for all to gather

I'd say having 1 or 2 grab it and live, would be an advantage over us all dead with no heavy

Nobody is saying to wait 10 seconds. Just a few seconds if you see teammates coming and there are no threats around. Anything over 5 seconds is dangerous.
