I'm trying to think of different ways to make a hero inherently flawed, so I've put up this list here.
Pick the one that would make the most interesting plot centric point.

3 Replies90% machine is pretty cool. Pedophileia isn't a hero flaw. There isn't such thing as a pedo hero, and if there ever is, then I think I will just leave.
-
1 ReplyPedophiles aren't inherently bad. They just have an attraction to children. If they act on it that's bad but otherwise they are just people with creepy fetishes.
-
1 ReplyIf I'm 80% machines do I have a robot penis?

Read The Blue Max. Alcoholism and excessive ambition put together do not have a pretty result.

6 RepliesDo you even know what a Tragic Hero is? If not, let me run down the list of requirements someone (or something) must meet in order to be a Tragic Hero: -Must be very powerful/influential in their society -Must have extreme pride since beginning of story -Must make a fatal mistake because of Pride -Must have epiphany about their Pride when they are too late to save the day -(If Reading) Readers feel sympathy for Tragic Hero when they are far from their pride (or if Watching) The audience feels sympathy for Tragic Hero when they are far from their pride If you want an example of a good Tragic Hero, I encourage you to read the English translations of the Greek plays of Oedipus. It's a trilogy, I believe.

It's the small things which make a hero flawed. This is just hamfisting in a defect.
-
None of these, best hero flaw has got to be the one Puri Puri Prisoner has
-
Either 2 or 3. Schizophrenia could be a good source of either hero choking at a key moment or actually being completely misled, a la A Beautiful Mind. Narcissistic Personality could lead to him becoming a tautological templar-esque figure.

15 Repliesriddle me this; why does everyone hate pedos with such vigorous reactions? it wasn't even illegal/a thing until 1970s in 1986 there were still 40y/o men marrying 12y/o girls IN THE USA in many 3rd world countries age of consent is 13. in USA 18y/o's can marry 80+ y/o's if they chose to. now don't get me wrong I'm not advocating rap3 by any means; that is still horrible for obvious reasons. I'm only talking about legitimate consent from both parties with older ppl having relationships with younger people. like why is this such a topic of absolute disgust from the populous? famous people who had affinities that today would mark them as pedophiles; 5* Field Marshall Montgomery Lewis Carroll Herbert Hoover Pete Townshend Plato William Shakespeare Alexander the Great Micheal Angello Caligula Sigmund Frued King Tut (also incest*) Albert Einstein remarried to his second cousin (not pedo tho) Charles Darwin married his first cousin(idk details) Cleopatra (incest* + pedo) Franklin D. Roosevelt and wife and Eleanor were second cousins, as were Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was also briefly married to a second cousin. (non pedo tho) Elvis Presley John Newton Thomas Jefferson Saint Augustine and his mother Saint Monica Muhammad (if a real person) Ghengis Khann Napoleon Bonaparte Romeo of Romeo and Juliet (which is taught and played to/by children today) all the Men in the play; Much Ado about Nothing all the men in 1/2 of William Shakespeare's plays and the list of celebrity, political and clergymen pedos is miles long. so yea again not condoning or arguing the relationships that were rap3/ not consented by the younger party; just asking why the mark of pedo or hebephile is virtually an instant outcast from the world/deathmark, especially considering so many historical figures and up until the year 1890 in the 1st world nations 60% of marriages would today be considered pedo or hebephiles.

Extreme schizo could make him a villian
-
1 ReplyHero has pet frog named Reggie, that he HAS to feed at 3:26 pm daily.
-
3 RepliesPeople aren't going to take a hero with pedophilia seriously
-
2 RepliesSchizophrenia would be the most interesting. You could play with the psychological effects of the disease throughout. Could make for some good plot twists.
-
The second poll describes Donald trump
-
Schizophrenia could make for some very unique and interesting stories making it by far the most interesting. You could play with the ways that the disease causes the brain to work inherently different giving the character different outlooks on everyday occurrences.

Crippling guilt He/She could have had a last in super-villainy and then had a change of heart so he/she is trying to reform (doesn't want to turn themselves in though). Situations are rarely black and white though, so often what's "right" and "wrong" isn't clear cut ( that and old habits die hard). As a result they're often torn as to if they're following the right path. Ex: A former partner has taken hostages and demands the hero shows up. Not wanting his past to be revealed the hero quickly shows up. They speak and the villain states that he's disgusted with the hero's change of heart. A fight ensues and the hero corners the villain on the roof of a nearby building. The villain reveals that he has rigged both the building with the hostages and a large shopping center. The villain tosses the hero a switch and says he/she must choose which bomb to deactivate or they'll both go off. He then adds, "But don't forget, these ones have heard your secret." The hero is torn as they know the villain isn't bluffing. Sacrificing the few (hostages) for the many (shopping center) is the logical choice, but it feels so selfish.

Hero is a pedophile
*Grabs bleach* We all know what happened there...
-
4 RepliesJust make the hero an alcoholic. Or a sex attic.
-
1 ReplyPedophilia is wrong and that will supercede any heroic qualities. Probably don't choose that one.
-
1 ReplyThe problem with making him a pedophile, is that it's hard to take a character seriously when that's his biggest flaw.
-
2 RepliesHe's a villian. All of these seem boring or not very good. Just turn him into a villian who is actually fighting for what is wrong.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Shaft: 5/30/2016 6:17:49 PMMaybe give him/her a drug addiction...or make him/her homosexual or trans. Edit: Okay, homosexual or trans then. The junkie option was already mentioned. :/
*dabs*
"That's how you break down an unassailably lovable character. Just make him a pedophile." -Dan Avidan

So A song of Fire and Ice?

Edited by Damp: 5/30/2016 2:20:56 PMYou could give them Hero Syndrome. Which is the deep psychological desire to help others, but it goes so far that you will cause the problems just to "fix" them later. Out of your list, the -blam!-ing narcissist. He's only doing it because it looks good on him. Which is a shallow reason to be a Hero.

A pedophile hero would be weird, make em' homeless and a drug addict
