Destiny's Logic: Connection
"We're going to introduce new matchmaking settings, even though you don't want us to. This may slow your matchmaking progress, but you will be matched against players with similar skill so that everybody has a fair chance of winning."
*Releases matchmaking settings. The new settings match you with people in China, even though you're in America, causing extremely laggy matches.*
"Okay, we understand that our new matchmaking settings are causing matches to be laggy and a sweat fest. So instead of fixing our own problems we caused, we're introducing the Damage Referee system. This will allow players with worse connection than you to not have an advantage over you because of their connection."
*Releases Damage Referee. Players with worse connection now have a much better advantage now than ever before.*
"Okay, we are going to enforce the banhammer more often. Players who have bad connection will be put on timeout from the Crucible."
*Still doesn't acknowledge the fact that their own matchmaking settings and servers are causing all the connection problems. Bans people from Crucible because they are being forced to play with people from other countries.*

3 Repliesi get better connection against people in china than people in mexico or brazil. destiny still blames the lag on consumers when we all know its on their end. i pay 200 a month for verizon fios quantum 300/300 and destiny pvp still manages to lag, i know it isnt my end, im sure i have better internet than many online gamers if not most because i pay extra for it so at least my other internet devices can run at light speed. too bad we can't pick servers like on PC, i would rather play the same 10 people in my town without lag than be able to play everyone in the world hooked up to mcdonalds wi-fi or playing from a japanese fishing boat. almost every game in crucible is lagged even if its just that 1/64th of a second where you feel your shots not hitting and your characters physics not operating properly and you go from 4.5 k'd one game to .5 the next game it's ridiculous.

If I'm jumping around the screen, teleporting, and not taking damage, you'll be doing the EXACT same as I am, and chances are I'll think it's your connection if I don't realize I'm red barring. Lagging doesn't give anyone (at least me) any kind of advantage in any way. Most of the people who say lagging gives you an advantage have no right to judge until you play with bad connection. Not everyone can have top notch Internet. A few Edits:

4 RepliesDo yourself a favor and quit this terrible f u c k i n g game. Bungie's inability to run this game is laughable. Bungie is pretty much giving the middle finger to the good players (lengthy search times and opponents with horrible connections). I would like for the game to be good again, but I doubt that will happen. Maybe Destiny 2??? IDK

3 RepliesIdk what happen to the pvp but year one was all green bars for me, one or two laggy matches a month but man it was running pretty smooth. Now, there is no game where i dont see a red bar and most of the time that red bar guy is first place in his team. The pvp is so bad that i have seen more titans blink than bladedancers in year two.

13 RepliesSBMM is -blam!-ing cancer. It has no place in a game without ranked and social playlists or dedicated servers. It saps all the fun out of the PVP, I can't run in with a goofy loadout unless I wanna get stomped with 4 kills -15 deaths. Everybody is bringing the sweaty loadouts and when there is severe lag with someone teleporting through walls and shotgunning me while taking no damage makes me want to break a controller. PVP in Year 1 was fine, I don't recall there being many (if any) posts on the forums regarding how people were sick of the matchmaking system back then. Nobody asked for this and yet here it is. What logic. Such wow.

Didn't I buy the game too? Just because I have bad connection, I'll have to stick to patrol because it's the only place where my connection doesn't matter? I personally say...let it burn. Or throw more money at the screen until we're out of content.

1 ReplyThey need to go back to house of wolves settings. We had lag, but not like this. I never played so many empty matches, ever in this game. Played all day yesterday for the most part. game starts, 4 people on my team, 5 on the other. We each got one player halfway through the match. It was played the entire time 5v6. There was a few games like this too. WTF, nobody playing destiny? can't find us one person? Then there is elimination, my favorite game. People join, win the first round, people then leave so I am by myself. Game don't find anyone else for you. How fun.

1 ReplyI remember losing a trials game I year one...guy was so laggimg you couldn't hit him. He ressed his teammates while being nowhere see-able. It was shit.

Sad how crucible cry babies just make things worse and worse, I feel like if destiny wants to ban ppl for connection issues then they should offer to give those same ppl a full refund for returning destiny, dlc included. It's so funny how when they advertised this game never once was it brought up that less than stellar connections will get you banned. I haven't been banned but just thinking that they do this to ppl who spent their hard earned cash on this game is just disgusting.

I only really have a problem in the crucible when I play trials. Seems about the 5th or 6th match you hit a team that teleports everywhere and you have to get one of them down just so they will appear briefly when they are trying to get a revive. Then you get all 3 of them down and your like whoop! And then somehow 2 are back to life like wtf? Oh and usually special ammo and heavy is frozen. I don't know what causes that but it's extremely annoying. You feel like a beast though when you finally beat them. A billion kills later

Thank you for making a logical post about this in a clear and concise manner. There is truth in every word and the last paragraph sums it up. They have the old data to revert things back the way it was... but they'd sooner pile on fixes and band-aids in a false attempt to remedy things. Nice post.

2 RepliesI get tired of "Losing connection to Destiny servers" and always at the end of a match, strike,CoE, you name it. It's Destiny servers the whole time my internet is up and I can leave game and browse the PSN store. Sucks....
