Coming from me, a dude that gave WoW 10 years of monthly subscription money before Activision helped kill it, leaving behind gear is one of the few things Destiny does that I accept. Needless to say after 10 years and 11 level 100s, I've left behind a lot of earned loot. I'm okay with leaving behind loot. I don't need another Fatebringer, or Gallarhorn, or Vision of Confluence. I want you to make me something new, something equally or even more badass. I don't want reskinned items. I don't want reused content. I don't want micro transactions. I don't want a year of the same stuff over and over... I don't want it because I watched THAT trend kill World of Warcraft.
We were right about one thing: No game will kill WoW... Activision did. If that's any indication of who we're dealing with, I don't have much hope for Destiny 2.

And therein lies the problem... They haven't made anything truly worthwhile this year. This makes people yearn for Y1 even more. And in a game like this, not being a true mmo, losing gear is a big deal. The amount of content difference is just too drastic to be comparable.

Honestly, I mean, I remember the forums exploding with people that just wanted their old stuff to carry over. Granted this is only a half ass mmo shooter, people didn't know how to take having to gain new gear. So the developer got to be lazy. They reskinned some stuff and brought forward items from old content. They took the easy way out rather than really put forth the effort to make something new.

I never played wow however the amount of content that was added in each expansion was pretty impressive for how much it was. But the main reason why people wanted old content back was because the new content just was lackluster as you could beat it in 45 minute they did better in King fall but made it a lot more expensive and locked out most of the content already which again less content = more demand for updated content
