In all honesty while it does have plenty if good ideas, its still a very old document written by people that could not have predicted the problems we would face today. Did you know that Jefferson proposed that the constitution should expire and be re written every 19 years? Perhaps he was on to something.

No it still stands and we still follow it, anything else is treason

Because people are too patriotic

They don't want to change it, but they want to ignore it. Just like the bible.

3 RepliesDid you also know that George Washington clearly stated to never form political parties as the party system would corrupt our government? I guess our founding fathers were actually right about some things....who knew?

21 RepliesActually, the forefathers did a remarkable job of predicting future problems. You must not realize what we'd be facing today if not for the small details in the constitution. Also, there is a clause in there that we as Americans should be enacting right now, but fail to do so because "mah iPad and Netflix!"

Because if we didn't stick with our constitution, we'd wind up like this little shit right here.

To reference a movie called "with honors" the beauty of the constitution is that it was designed to be able to be changed inorder to allow it to always be effective and allow it to adapt to modern society needs

3 RepliesIn my experience, many who regard the U.S. Constitution as a "near-religious text" have only the most ill-defined ideas about the document's contents.

Edited by Toxic waffle: 3/21/2016 11:07:19 PMBecause that's the law of the country. Although, rewriting the constitution every two to three decades would be smart.
In all honesty while it does have plenty if good ideas, its still a very old document written by people that could not have predicted the problems we would face today.
Hilariously, that exact same sentence can be used for a lot of religious texts, so..

3 RepliesBecause it's how the United States is run. It's kind of important.

12 RepliesEdited by Brave: 3/21/2016 5:27:02 PMBecause we need guidelines to go by. If we make things up as we go along it'll all go to shit

Just that: because it was written by a bunch of dusty old white dudes who frequently engaged in behavior not acceptable by today's standards. *cough* banging slaves *cough* I mean, in this day and age why not raise up to religious status a document written by people who didn't even have Netflix?

23 RepliesBecause it says "god."
