So as we know, snipers have grown a bit more popular than before now that some of the popular primaries, such as hand cannons, were adjusted.
I personally do not believe that snipers are overpowered in their current state, I believe that they can reward a skilled hand in many close situations.
However, that is not to say snipers are not exactly the least popular of the special weapon class. They allow for combat at a distance, without any need to worry as much about shotguns or ARs. Many people have gotten very skilled at using their snipers, and I'm glad that they have grown more popular from this update. But, there may be some tweaks that might need to be added to slow them down a tiny bit. To retain their rewarding feeling of getting a headshot, but emphasizing the consequences of missing that shot and only getting a body shot.
As such, I've put a poll of some of the things that I've seen both the community and YouTube pitch in what they believe snipers may need to bring them down a bit while still rewarding those with a quick hand.

Tbh anybody who gets killed by a "aim assisting noob" would probably have been killed anyway by that sniper. Sniping is really easy in destiny anyways and to keep a competitive edge good snipers use the better weapons. Whether this is the current meta or not

6 RepliesEveryone in year one called for shotgun nerfs( cqc based weapon), which allowed the sniper to start to shine. Now that they're shining people are calling for their nerfing. If/when they get nerfed, you'll see fusions and/ or sidearms rise up and then get nerfed as well... ( moral of the story is) they pvp community will always complain about weapons that are in their prime.

Decrease body shot damage in pvp. It's already terrible against shields in pve. Increase precision damage in pvp so more archetypes can Rez snipe. More variety, less body shot- primary combos, less double body shots with low impact snipers

9 RepliesNo matter how dominant snipers are they don't need adjusting because there's not really a lot you can do, people talk about aim assist but I find scope drag more annoying than anything. Primary weapons need buffing, that's all.

1 ReplySnipers themselves are not the problem (neither were fusions or shotguns). It's the seemingly unlimited special ammo available on the map. Cut out ammo crates completely and give every guardian 1 clip of special ammo and no more as well as disable ammo regen in PvP. In elimination (round based) game types give each guardian 2 special ammo bullets per round and the problem is solved. It will become true special use and not be everyone's primary weapon like it is now.

The only thing that bothers me with snipers is unflinching. Even then I wouldn't call it op so much as annoying.

Only change would maybe be slightly slower draw and scope time for snipers. I don't think snipers are the problem, I think it's the fact that shotguns and most primaries aren't so hot right now.

Snipers are ruining PVP. I understand the need for this type of weapon but you shouldnt be taken out with a head shot 10 feet away from the snipers while you're shooting him with an AR. The sniper rifle is a very powerful gun and should not be viable in all applications.

Sniper rifles are fine. They are preforming no better then shotguns on most playlists the only place they over preform is playlists that have revive enabled. Making it so you can't revive snipe will add too much advantage to revive spamming so I think the revive system needs to be fixed. Also cutting down the ability to primary with a special will cut down on the special weapon hate aswell.

I'd be fine with leaving them as is if they'd just restore fusion and shotties (handling). Not gonna happen so a nice increase in flinch would be my suggestion as I doubt the descope will happen.

The problem is, we don't want snipers to suck in PVE and all these nerfs affect PVE.
