Guess you were just talking shit back in Year One, huh?
Why did I work my ass off for my Elder Ciphers again? Or for the Mythoclast I did the VoG every week for and never got until House of Wolves? Or even for the Necrochasm, you know, grinding the absolute hell out of the Husk of the Pit and the Eidolon Ally and then praying to RNGesus for the Crux of Crota. Hey, anyone remember how hard it was to get Pocket Infinity, and the grind you had to do for Nightfalls? All that work just to see those weapons collect dust in my vault?
That brings up another point. Why were some weapons buffed and others nerfed... only for them NEVER to come to year two? What was the point of that? Examples: Thorn, and Gjallarhorn. Thorn was given a "net buff"... and there is no Year Two version. Gjallarhorn was nerfed... and there is no Year Two version. Why bother nerfing these weapons when there is no Year Two version?

Oh man with my bad english i can explain to u why exactly this situation happened. Here is old content only because everything here is about money, why money?? Look forward if they haven't touch old content who will keep playing on IB, ToS, every week raid? No body from year 1 , just new people which came with TTK , there is no sense for bungie, they can make again unuseless content and make us keep running over and over again same missions, they not lose people and still have new customers, this is marketing guys. Bungie running this place. They return for us some old weapons just for showcase , -"look guys, we thinking about u" . U really think that your vote matters? Nooo they are earning on you good money, they are have families , childrens , lifes, u really think these guys driving on porsche and thinking about post where some schoolers complaining about 293 ghosts? Only when people will leave from destiny with big numbers , bungie will start losing money and only then must do something, but now no reasons, here is same population like first month of destiny i believe, maybe more. Bungie completely understand currently here is no similar games on ps4 which can kill destiny, destiny mechanic fans keep playing destiny , here is no others games, nothing to play. this forum is just text war and illusion that our votes matters, thats it, if they doing something only because must do something, no more , no one will jump overhead. 19 RepliesI do hope people complaining about gear being obsolete never .. ever .. try and play an MMO. Every expansion renders old gear obsolete and the grind to gear up again starts over. If this is bad for them here then that would crush them. Hilarious for some of us to see but if they tried an MMO and then treid to complain about it there they would be laughed off the forums instead of quietly giggled at here.

And this thread right here is why Bungie will never do anything but be vague in the weekly updates. Because once they say something, if they ever, ever change their mind-if they find something better or they make fundamental changes to their game or whatever-what they did before is locked in stone. Bungie didn't lie when they said that. They simply changed their mind about how their game works. They realized, too late, that leaving old gear in a game with loot progression would cause people to not bother with the new gear. They designed Year 1 loot for bosses that were massive bullet sponges and realized that wasn't the best plan for bosses, so rather than fundamentally redesign old gear, they designed new gear under new principles. They changed their minds. It happens.

Because Destiny's DEV biz and social media team are idiots. There are TONS of ways to make y2 conversions for y1 weapons. Weekly quest, material grind to purchase upgrade or flat exchange system. The fact is their y1 weapons were not balanced into the y2 weapons and y2 weapons lack y1 weapon uniqueness. (Mostly damage types on primaries) So they said, what is the cheapest and easiest way for us to make y1 weapons relevant? Use our existing exotic vendors and drop system to drop updated versions of y1 weapons and tell the players it is new content. IV drip that content so over time it looks like they are deving.

More of a we did this, we don't like it but it has to happen. So if everyone would like to read what is there instead of reading what they want it to say there wouldn't be an issue. That's the thing these weapons ARENT obsolete. Look at the term obsolete, usually its associated with when something becomes completely useless and has no use. Year one items DO have a use though. The biggest example is the old raids, this is something nearly EVERYONE looks over. Sure the gear they drop aren't to worth it but the ascendant material IS worth it. Trade those to the speaker for motes then again to your faction to rank them up to 25 for an exotic class item quest. The second example people overlook is that tons of people play crucible daily (regular crucible) but almost everyone (again) forgets year one weapons are just as good as they were in year one. Third example is that these events are viable for y1 guns. So far everyone in crimson doubles is using y1 guns. But sadly these are the same people lacking the focus to realize they work in regular crucible also. And lastly thorn WILL come back this year. We just need to wait, in a earlier interview with Luke smith (deej then later confirmed this in a weekly update) all year one weapons (except ghorn) will come to year 2.

The point I keep bringing up is that the game would feel bigger and mor diverse if they bought the old gear forward, you would see guardians with different armour, different load outs and different weapons. It would also probably bring old players back in as well. You could have a choice with your fireteam weather to run v.O.g, c.e or kings fall with a chance to get that vision of confluence you never got or vex myth!

6 RepliesYa know, I really liked my Naxx-10man set, along with my Fireland's set back in Cata. Sure do wish Blizz would make those older sets relevant again....oh wait, they won't. Things become obsolete as time goes on, it is part of life. If they made older gear still relevant then the balancing nightmare would be huge.

What sucked is when I dismantled my messenger, matador and jolders because I ran out of room in the vault and I get punished for making room for year 2 weapons.
