I recognize there are some people that hate the update...
And I recognize my opinion may not be correct in everyone's eyes.
But removing special will allow for more primary battles early on, and force players to learn map control.
Most players will need to adapt, and get better at pvp without constant special ammo... this means the crucible will be more competitive in a healthy way, unlike terrible connection SBMM
But what do I know! I'd rather hear what you all think - Let's get some discussion going

Not removing ... just delaying. But yes, it is a good thing.

The reason I use fusion rifles is because it forces me to use my primary, now people are going to have try to get good without using crutch specials

Side arms will reign supreme.

Read this in a Scottish accent. Here's a baby kitten to give her take on this cereal situation.

No special spawns will make the imbalances between classes and primary weapons more apparent.

THANK YOU. All of the 12 year olds are complaining so much :P

100% agree.

4 RepliesI don't care at all. I'll adapt and continue to consistently win matches with a positive k/d just like I did after the previous changes.

Special ammo was the o lyrics thing that needed a nerf, not fusion rifles, not shotguns, not snipers. They need to buff all specials back to vanilla state, excluding snipers (snipers are in a great spot) People can't complain about specials being op (especially you shotty/fusion rifle nerfherders) or that they are used as a peimary, when they are limited, only the few will complain

1 ReplyHere is my detailed and researched post about special ammo for people who still don't understand: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/182264454/0/0/1
I was afraid of putting this up because of the backlash, but here goes- For me, I don't see shotguns, snipers, or any special as over powered, I see them as over used. A long while back we faced an issue, people were using their specials far more than their primaries. With a following patch they fixed it to ensure that primaries would be used more... or did they?
Bungie Weekly Update - 04/09/2015 https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---04092015/en/News/News?aid=12753 This update mentioned some things about special ammo and their goals for it.
Kevin: At the highest level, we had a few goals in mind: Make Special ammo a more precious resource in Crucible Further solidify Heavy ammo's role in the Crucible Further improve the balance of encounters by limiting high-damage weapons
or
Or, as Mr. Fruit put it earlier this week: Shotgun violence runs rampant in the Crucible. Can you ease his mind with some details? Kevin: The recent update to sandbox balance was the first step. Creating a new system to manage ammo drops will enable us to adjust the Crucible experience without altering other activities in your Director. We believe that making ammo more scarce and important will provide players with more choices and more memorable encounters in Crucible.
and then there is:
Kevin: Special Ammo will spawn less frequently, it will take longer to pick up, there will be less crates located on the map, and the bricks you find will provide you with less ammo. I’ll save the stats and gory details for the Patch Notes. [Editor’s Note: Coming very soon to a blog article near you!] We wanted players to really think about how and when they should use their ammo. The hope is that you’ll ask yourself questions like: "Is this snipe worth it right now?" "Should I really shotgun rush these players?" "Should I conserve ammo until the next crate?”

Yet with the idea of making special ammo more precious we still see people using only the special weapons still.
"Is this snipe worth it right now?"
You don't ask yourself this because you're running around with at least 8 shots and the next ammo drop will be in 7 seconds to give you 4-5 more shots.
"Should I really shotgun rush these players?"
Well, seeing as I can carry at least 16 shots with my shotgun, this is never a question. People can claim that others are just scrubs by shotgun rushing, or pussies by camping with a sniper. But what if that shotgunner had only 2 shot available to him? He would have had to wait for the right time to use it to get 2 kills. Or the sniper had only 1 shot left? He would have needed the right angle and right opportunity to make that shot worth it. Using a special weapon for a special situation. Yet we are given so much special ammo it is not that precious, even skilled people can stack up on ammo to a large capacity of shots. By using a certain weapon so much an impression is made, then claimed to be over powered when it is not, it is over used. This won't stop the shotgun nerf though, that boat has already sailed. But even with them being nerfed they will still be used to large extents because of the availability given to them through special ammo pickups. If a nerf would come to special ammo, I would advise not reducing the amount of ammo special weapons can carry, but how much they can pick up in crucible. Instead of giving 6 shotgun shots, or 5 sniper shots, give 2. It will not effect the performance of the weapon, but it will effect the availability and use of it. PvE players would be happy too with a nerf that doesn't effect them. That is my input, call me what you want, scrub, baby, idiot, I don't care. This has been the one and only main issue I see in crucible, and you can disagree with me if you want. But if you agree, please bump and like so we can focus on the real issue.
3 RepliesMIDA will be used even more now.

Agreed

16 RepliesThis bothers me in Trails for one reason. The team that wins is the only team that will consistently get special ammo, so after already having the upper hand they have special weapons while the team that had a bad start has nothing.
-
Wont change anything, players will just use invective more and still make players like you rage over it.
-
5 RepliesIt makes games waayyyyy to one sided though. If you can team wipe people and grab some special first you can snowball any team quite easily since your special doesn't disappear when you die(which it should).

3 RepliesI've played since beta day 1, I know all the maps & I also know that if I get sniped at the onset it won't be the last time nor is it the last match I can play. The bigger picture isn't a few aggravating matches here and there, they make me adjust and over the course of the game, I have grown better by "on the fly" tactical adjustments. The bigger picture is, over the career of ones Crucible engagements, many, many games get played. Off setting the special ammo the first time they did it was fair. Limited starting ammo for special weapons was ok, I did get aggravated by not claiming heavy off of killing the guys that had gotten it, but whatever. Eliminating special from the beginning is creating more of a problem than it is solving, allow me to explain: WE ALL KNOW HOW SICKENING IT IS WHEN A DOUCHÉ GRABS THE HEAVY WHEN WE ARE ALMOST AT IT AND NO RED IS ON OUR RADAR! Now having the game persist with new players and old ones without care or knowledge of decent spawning ammo, we will now have some other douché be also bogarting the special as well. These are 10 minute matches that allows for plenty of time to adjust from sniping lanes and knowledge early on of a snipers preferred weapon. It effectively becomes a special ammo race instead of unpredictability of possible sniping lanes/ambush set ups. Now it is grab a hold of the special spawn location and dig in. It eliminates a 100% possibility of attack locations/attacks and becomes a special spawn primary initiation. It limits way more than it enables for diverse battle tactics. It makes each game smaller and less mature in tactical battle. In my opinion, it hinders the potential for variety and or fun, as well as drastically reducing the chances of any truly unique encounter. Less epic. Jmo though bro, no hate...

all I want is 100% CBMM. why the absolute f*** do they want to keep SBMM in the system? there are still terribly laggy players.

Hey, there's always sidearms.

15 RepliesEdited by CasualSpooner: 2/5/2016 10:46:19 PMWhat I'm concerned about is in elimination, the team that wins the first round will be at a HUGE advantage because all of a sudden, in round 2, they are starting with special and the other team still has NONE. So it'll basically always come down to who won the first round.
-
It's only for competitive game modes so it makes sense, if it was in control I'd have a problem, but it isn't so I don't.

2 RepliesThe only people crying about this are Conspiracy Theory try hards lol. I use mostly snipers and high ROF shotguns and I really like the new special ammo changes

17 RepliesSays the guy who is going to continue to outgun the bad kids, take all the special, and leave them even more defenseless lol

5 RepliesEdited by Dr Livingston 9: 2/5/2016 10:36:57 PMless special is good but not fighting over the boxes. in some ways it will be less competitive. one team will end up with all the special and the other team wont. i say all or nothing. have playlists with no special allowed or keep it the same. people will hog specail. i dont like the idea of hogging special that means its less competitive . have everyone get the same amount of ammo none of this fight over boxes. i will have to see how much of a advantage the other teams have if they have special but its not cool being sniped by the other team when your team only has primary. this may seem radical but everyone should get the same amount of ammo. what they need to do is get rid of heavy ammo for the 3 vs 3 and rumble playlists. i wish they got rid of heavy ammo in so many playlists so i could avoid it. it lasts way too long. i know this has nothing to do with special ammo but others have complained about how much heavy ammo we get!!!
