So, can this officially be a thing now, since the smart loot system still can't provide avenues to getting to max light level without a boon from rngesus? 40+ kings fall completions, not to mention handfuls of unfinished raids because we only were looking for specific battles/drops, and an entire clan seems to be forever 319. Some of us can't get a helmet at 320 for the life of Osiris, others can't get a ghost shell that high, while many are suffering from lack of a class item at the illustrious magic number. And it's not just raids either, although that should be the most surefire way to get the gear at the light drops you need. Trials bounties, srl while it was around for helmets, iron banner streaks of pure soul crushing domination (we had a clan message us jokingly and say 'so this is what cancer feels like' after we not only won but damaged their psyches), and yet we are always still lacking across all of our toons the same magical pieces of gear that let us polish off the grind. Maybe the smart loot system needs a major overhaul, because it can be demoralizing and makes us curse the names of the cryptarch and speaker over and over when the totem door drop gives us two ghost shells, one at 310, the other at 311, when wearing 315-317 shells, or when oryx trolls us from beyond his throne room dimension with hard mode helmet drops of 311 and 312 whilst giving us another 320 primary to add to the infusing pile. Heck, we've even thought of offering Cozmo or deej as a blood sacrifice to oryx, figuring the only way to get to 320 is to play the game of life as the hive do: through blood and sacrifice. Is that what it will really take?
