Bungie states that [quote] Destiny takes place approximately 700 years in the future[/quote] A body, buried 6 feet underground, without a coffin, takes about 8 to 12 years to decay. Keep this in mind. A human would have been a pure skeleton by this time. The guardians, human, exo, awoken. Exos were created to help the humans. The humans that fled earth when the darkness invaded, came back transformed as the awoken. [spoiler] nuclear radiation? Pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows? I have no idea[/spoiler] So, your guardian came back after a few HUNDRED years, as a frickin skeleton. So your ghost can make you time travel, to be a perfect age to kill entire armies of the darkness, but cant disable a firewall. Gee, that makes sense. What about the awoken? The awoken came to earth AS the awoken. They were not created on the earth. Therefore, the only way for that to make sense, is for... Nevermind. Its impossible. Confused? Here is an order of the events in chronological order. The golden age. [spoiler]The time of prosperity. Human lifespan tripled. Exos were created to assist the humans. [\spoiler] The collapse [spoiler]Darkness invades. 98% of humans who don't flee have been eradicated. [\spoiler] The dark age, roughly 400 years later [spoiler]The humans come back to earth, transformed as the awoken.[\spoiler] Your guardian is "revived" [spoiler] eyes up, guardian! [/spoiler] From this, you can easily see that your guardian has been dead a SEROIUSLY long time. Need more evidence? Think back to the very first level. You got the Khvostov-7G02 auto rifle. So what? Well, look at the damn thing! It is obviously very old. It is relatively small, has the same look to today's M4A1. Now when you get to the tower, all the weapons and armor are very technologically advanced. There is a SERIOUS time gap. Look at the armor too. It is weak, plain and old. How do we know? The style. People these days don't dress like people did in the 90's. Lets take hunters for example. Starting out, they have a scarf-thing instead of a cloak. Upon reaching the tower, they dont sell scarfs anymore. The only way this could be possible, is through time travel. Why time travel? Logic. Its about time I introduce a new theory. You are the ghost. Or at least, your soul is the ghost. Maybe, the ghost is your soul. If you know anything about time travel, you would know that an organism can not physically come into contact with its past or future self. Why? Think of it like this. If you were to jump back into time, to meet your past self, if you were to shake hands, .... Nobody really knows what would happen. You couldent physically touch your past or future self, because your future self wouldn't have existed yet. This is known as the grandfather paradox. If you were to go back in time to stab your grandfather with a knife, your grandfather couldn't have one of your parents, and your parents couldn't have you. If you were never born, you couldn't go back in time to kill your grandfather. Back to the ghost. Why do I say that your ghost is yourself? Because there is no way to physically interact with the ghost. Think about it. When was the last time you saw the player PHYSICALLY touch the ghost. You can't. It can never happen. The ghost hovers above your hand. When the ghost scans something, (very commonly) nothing can harm the ghost. You cant melee the ghost, cant harm it with grenades, it shrugs off supers.. And mostly, you can't touch it. If you walk into it, you phase directly through it. Also, your ghost almost knows exactly what to do. Of course, all logic fails when it comes to avoiding a firewall. Think about it. If you never found that ghost, you would still be wandering around the cosmodrome. Back to the original theory. From this, you know that the same thing cannot interact with itself in the future or past. Which is why the guardian is never seen touching the ghost. Look at this. When does something become a ghost. After it dies. In the beginning of the game, it says [quote] I'm a ghost. Actually, now, I'm YOUR ghost[/quote] Most people, including me, took this as a phrase of possession, saying, i belong to you. No. Not anymore. Here, it is saying i AM you, in the future.
