I am a Titan player so my thoughts might be a little biased, but I have played with both classes a lot, so that might not be an Issue.
Stormcallers and Sunbreakers, in my opinion, are the most Overpowered classes in Destiny PvP. However I am here to defend my titans honor.
Let's start with supers.
Stormtrance is a super that has a limit to its range. However bolts of electricity can come out of your hand as soon as you pull the trigger and hits your enemies almost instantly. Stormtrances chain does not have a delay between shots allowing them to always hit a target without delay, and can chain off of enemies. Stormcallers movement speed during Stormtrance seems to be increased, they also have a teleport which can be played as a perfect dodging or chase mechanic. During Stormtrances casting time you can have a devasting shockwave that hits the ground under you. You also have the ability to let your Stormtrance heal you and let Stormtrance drain slower. Stormtrance can charge faster when near allies, and can also hurt enemies around you without targeting them.
The Hammer of Sol is a super that slows down the Titan and has a range that is pretty far. However HoS has a significant drop off and hammers are not an instant hit forcing titans to lead their shots. Hammers can not be thrown very quickly, so you have to hit your hammer right the first time, to keep yourself safe. The HoS can alter its path to hit enemies, however the radius of this ability is very small. The Hammer of Sol has a significant blast radius that allows Titans to hit the environment around the enemy to kill them. The HoS can also chain off of enemies allowing Titans to get multi-kills without having to throw another hammer. Hammer of Sols casting time is pretty long, leaving their Titans vulnerable to damage during this time and does not give them an armor boost yet. Titans also have the option to start regenerating health after a kill. Sunspots can also be made to allow HoS to drain slower and give the Titan an overshield. Now we can talk about Suncharge but I have not seen that in action yet.
So looking at both supers why are Sunbreakers overpowered? Is it because they have more armor? The Hammers are timed between shots allowing a sniper to get two headshots on him before he fires another hammer. If a titan misses his hammer, run or shoot him twice with a shotgun. Killing a Sunbreaker is not hard. I have done it multiple times while I'm not in my super.
Why are Stormcallers overpowered? Is it because they are fast? A stormcaller can regenerate all his health and chase you across the map with his Stormtrance. His hits are not delayed, which lets him melt anyone down fast (including Sunbreakers.) However they have to get up close so a well timed shotgun shell can put them down.
I think I will go I into melee abilities and grenades on another post.
I don't believe Sunbreakers are overpowered. It has its ups and downs. So does Stormtrance. Both supers are damage dealing Subclasses that scare people. Supers are suppose to scare people right? Then why nerf them. Both can be killed, but it's hard.
If you nerf Sunbreakers please nerf Stormcallers. Both Subclasses are powerful. Both have advantages and disadvantages. So please tell me why Sunbreakers are overpowered, because I don't see it at all.

1 ReplyIf you want to see why sunbreakers are op just compare them to other supers in the game. It lasts longer than a golden gun or radience has more kill potential but my real problems with it are..... You can one hit anything in the whole game pvp with a direct hammer. This means radience is useless. I use a blade dancer and am good with the super but I still trade with my friend who is awefull with the hammer of sol as he just has to wait for me to hit him once then throw a hammer it can't miss and I will die or trade. Also the average player will not be able to hit a sniper headshot and then body shot while evading the hammer. Also your health dosnt stop returning when you are damadged like the blade dancers . It just negates the damadged. I would nerf hammer blast radius so you actually have to aim. Armour so you can be one hit with a high impact sniper or golden gun. Health regen so it isn't broken and the length of time the super lasts so that you actually have to time your super activations if you can come up with a good reason not to implement at least some of these changes I will be surprised . Also storm trance has little damage reduction and can't 1 hit you so they can be one hit with shotguns and snipers and I quite often take them down from mid rAnge with my primary. Perhaps they need the amount of time it takes to be nerfed but it is a much more counter able super. Sorry for ranting and spelling

Edited by Captain K1utchx: 10/19/2015 10:50:18 AMNo contest. Hammer of sol is better of the two. More forgiving due to higher armor, farther ranged one hit kills, longer lasting super and health regen on kill. Storm trace only gets health regen on activation and only if you have both your melee and grenade charged which I found didn't happen very often. More often than not I'd have the opportunity for a multi but didn't have either a grenade or melee to benefit from this. Hammer of sol gets health regen with every kill. Even though storm trance can instantly hit you, within its range, it's DOT although it can kill quickly it's not instantly. The instant part of the super is landfall if you run it (let's be honest, why wouldn't you?) Hammer of sol has AOE that kills instantly from much farther ranges. Hammer of sol has a 30 second super and storm trance has a 14 second super (24 if you activated it when your melee and grenade were charged) ST has 50% damage reduction and HOS has 55 or 60. You can't use both landfall and ionic blink unless you use the exotic slot for impossible machines and even then ionic blink eats chunks of your super reducing its time even more. Also that "super charged faster near team mates" perk isn't very useful in games modes like rumble or clash with randoms. Perpetual charge is better as it benefits your skill as a rushing player instead having to stay near people and be "super bait." The only time I'd run it is in 3V3 game modes. Even arc web is better if you can use the grenades effectively. Outside of the super storm caller is better but hammer has the superior super. But storm caller is a close second. A storm trance super CAN kill a sunbreaker 1v1 but that requires timing and skill of both players. I've killed my fair share of sunbreakers 1v1 with storm trance but have lost a few as well although, when I use MY sunbreaker I tend to destroy storm trance and haven't lost to 1 in a 1V1 with it yet.

1 ReplyCan't tell you how many times I've wiped out their team with stormcaller on rift. I think I've killed more hammers while in trance. It's about the same. Basically try to out maneuver everything with strafe and jump.

2 RepliesOk. I don't still don't understand why Sunbreakers are Overpowered. The only fix I see that can make people happy is to slow down the fire rate of the hammers. That would probably be the only nerf I would be ok with.

I agree with you.

I'm disappointed I thought Titans got our back as we warlocks did :-( BTW I'm against nerfs especially character abilities
-
The fact that two updates ago they fixed the problems with the titans. Last update fixed problems with the stromcaller. Next update big nerf to hunters! So now people can stop bitching coz bungie is happy with it, if ur not piss off back to CoD.

20 RepliesWhat a biased stupid post. Btw stormcaller is not OP at all where as sunbreaker is blatantly broken.
-
2 RepliesAll I'm sayin is I started hitting a Titan in rumble the other day with stormtrance and he activated his super after I started damaging him and immediately killed me with a hammer Stormtrance is not even close to op for the fact that it takes time and you have damage fall off and if you aren't directly aiming at them I does nothing Hammer of sol on the other hand is insanely op
-
If either of these classes get nerfed I want the hunters to lose their invisibility. And ALL classes to lose the armor upgrades that boost there super in some way, shape, or form because the Titan has 1 good one that gives perks to striker. I also dislike all the bashing that the Titans finally have a super than isn't used in a single activation. Also, of all our classes we only have one thing that is a suppression where as other classes such as hunters have multiple ways to suppress.

Maybe golden gun too. Except for the armor

4 RepliesStormtrance also takes more then a second to kill an enemy. You would know this if you truly used stormcaller enough. It is extremely easy to shut down.
-
Get killed by my sniper combo and golden gun all the time.=P
-
14 RepliesAny super where the only option is retreat is OP. Storm caller can be fought with shotguns melee, sun breaker on the other hand... Not so much.
-
8 RepliesIts the fact that a Titan can throw about 7 hammers and have an insane amount of armor. Whereas the stormtrance can be dropped easily with one sniper rifle shot. And the electricity cannot go through walls. And also transcendence is not a common thing in PvP since it requires you to have your melee and your grenade available. And they move at the same pace. It just appears faster due to it being in third person. Lastly, teleportation requires super energy to deploy. While the sun breaker is not impossible to kill. Its very difficult. And most titans don't realize this because they use the hammer and it doesn't seem overpowered to them. Just as arc blade didn't seem op to the hunters. But about a day of practice made both those classes very deadly. What they should do to the sunbreakers is increase the damage hammers do, but keep the armor. That way titans can still tank something they need to.

The only problem (not really) is they have to much health. At a minimum bungie needs to bring down their health to match up with other supers.
