I agree.
That was my point. It was never separate, and those who didn't buy a particular DLC, were still able to play it - until now.

They cannot play because of level entry.... The content is still there.... Catch 22
-
That is how Bungie made people buy more. It wasn't a precluding factor - it was an artificial requirement that they put in place to get more people to pay.
-
Might be artificial but they had to do it as power levels have always mattered..... If you had 170 levels running on to teams it would be shocking, I believe that the power cap for non ttk should be lifted
-
They didn't have to do anything. There are literally infinite ways to either bring someone along (without granting new abilities, or access to exclusive content), or leave them behind unless they pay. This universe exists only in Bungie's mind, and they chose the path that makes people pay continuously for something the player already "bought" (obviously the difference is - we didn't buy any game - but rather the renting the rights to play on Bungie's servers). This is where a lot of the rub is. Today - I could turn any of my XBOX 360's (I think I still have 4 or 5 of them), and load up Halo 3, and it will work just fine in story mode, heroic, etc... (just maybe without new maps that I didn't pay for). With Destiny - that isn't the case. Let's say I've never played Halo 3. Then today I buy the game, and play it - I could still get that DMR when it becomes available (or whatever was different back then). With Destiny, I'm stuck because I can't even buy Vanguard vendor gear, because no marks. I can't earn or spend currency (because where are you going to get marks - if your light level doesn't allow daily story/heroic strike, etc...). I'm not against Bungie trying to make money, I just wish they'd put that much more effort into the game, instead of schemes and marketing strategies. If the game was better, more customers would buy it, instead of trying to get more money from fewer customers, with less content (by making it exclusive for those few months only).

Edited by s13mark: 10/15/2015 3:53:35 PMBut the new marks buy you taken king gear!!! I'm sorry but on this you are wrong. All the classic playlists are working, raids etc, poe..... Any thing that you receive new taken king gear or levels should not be played or be available to an account who has not got ttk game, simple as that, seems harsh but taken king is a game in its self, destiny year 1 is an online based game, this is the nature of them, there is no real augment here as we all accepted bungies disclaimers.
-
Because of currency change, not because of DLC. Let's say I only bought Destiny (no DLC). When TDB released, I could still run daily heroic stories, weekly strikes (so long as it wasn't new maps). I would still earn vanguard and crucible marks, right? I could still go to vendors and buy gear. When HoW dropped, we could still do the same. The only change with TTK wasn't the TTK gear, it was that currency was deleted (transferred to rep for one time use for those that had some). Would you have said the same thing when TDB came out, that all of those marks some had couldn't actually buy anything, and you won't be able to ever again because you didn't pay on 'X' date of release? I did acknowledge already this isn't a purchase, but a license agreement. It is temporary access to someone else's equipment. I have never complained about any illegality, nor am I against Bungie for making money. I wish they'd take that money and use it to make this game better, instead of finding new ways to screw it up, or hiring a marketing team and PR reps to cover up this crap.

Edited by s13mark: 10/15/2015 6:59:31 PMAgain your wrong the amour in the tower is the ttk amour where you can change buffs and also infuse..... Completely different to last year And you can't wear it till your level 40..... So it would be pointless for you to have with out taken king
-
Again - I'm saying go back to every other expansion/DLC Destiny had. When TDB - there was only TDB armor and weapons (one could not go back in time and buy The Devil You Know, you could only buy The Devil You Don't. It is EXACTLY as I'm describing this current situation. The level 40 requirement only exists in Bungie's criteria as an attempt to push additional sales from individuals who would otherwise be playing the same game (I still haven't started Forza 6, even though it has been out for almost a month - I still play Forza 5). Am I wrong? By the way - the same goes for HoW as well. There is indisputable proof that when HoW dropped, one could not buy LDR5000, because there were only HoW weapons and gear available at vendors. The only difference until now was the artificial light level requirement and currency. Nothing else changed (not even someone's ability to NOT buy HoW, an yet still earn and spend currency). Please point out anything contrary to what I just stated.
-
Your logic is wrong because in year one your base light level was 20 so you could buy and equip legendary weapons...... This didn't change throughout year 1.... However Year 2 the base level for year 2 legendary amour and weapons is light level 40..... This is 100% normal in online only games..... Forza is not online only. Seriously if you like the game buy taken king, your argument is flawed and importantly your missing out on a great game.
-
I think you're assuming to much. I'm discussing facts. Years are not defined in an infinite universe. There is a game - then there are add-ons. This ADD-ON, negated major facets of the original game. This is not normal, and has never happened in this manner to any game online or otherwise, ever. This was not an expansion but a replacement. Once again - the requirement of being lvl 20 in year 1, and lvl 40 in year 2 is an artificial (but creative and underhanded) requirement that Bungie put in place to force those who want to continue to play the game to pay up (even if there is ZERO intent of exploring TTK places using TTK gear). There is nothing more obvious than that.
-
Edited by s13mark: 10/17/2015 2:27:35 AMThey refer to destiny ttk as year 2...... On all official podcasts and live streams And is very normal Practise like the online game WOW.... To be honest. Your argument is going no where, I'm going to go enjoy the Kings fall raid.
-
Edited by JasperGTR: 10/17/2015 7:18:51 AMThere is absolutely no comparison to WoW whatsoever in how the mechanics were removed. This never happened. Your enjoyment of a given level is irrelevant, but does display the level of your observation. Please feel free to ignore this, as nothing I've stated is factually incorrect. Please also drop Destiny year 2 nonsense - because that is exactly what my point was. If you don't see it, you will understand perhaps 20-30 years from now.

Edited by s13mark: 10/17/2015 1:50:42 PMGood luck in banner

Lol! Just got my 3rd character to rank 5. Done for the week.
-
-
I hope you weren't under the assumption that I don't play TTK. I made no comment as to whether or not I play the game - because it has no bearing on the choices Bungie decided to make.
-
Edited by s13mark: 10/17/2015 5:40:08 PM19360 is how much glimmer your character has right now and 36 legendary marks...... But that might be an assumption
-
Quite a difference from saying I should just buy something...
-
Edited by s13mark: 10/17/2015 6:32:33 PMTrue...... I only joined the thread because I know how good taken king Is compared to last year, it's the only game I've put in 800+ hours and still play every day, for me it's worth every penny. And to try and convince some one to play it who I know will enjoy it And we are both Nissan fans lol tho as you can see I prefer the s13

Edited by JasperGTR: 10/17/2015 6:57:55 PMlol! I had one in Japan before I got my first Skyline GT-R, now I I have a few, my favorite is the new GT-R. The wife keeps stealing to drive herself to school. I like the game, but feel there are far too many flaws in its management (constant perk adjustments, errors, changes, etc...). But I do see the difference in levels, as my children sometimes play with me, and we have 12 consoles, so paying for DLC to exist on all 12 isn't coming out of my pocket. My kids pay for it themselves, and my daughter is the one that I see the issue with TTK content locking her out of normal Vanilla tasks (like simple patrolling target missions now being 40).
-
I nearly bought a r32 gtr nine years ago..... Didn't buy it (what a mistake that was) Being locked out of patrol is not ok at all,but the taken patrol mission and the target vip patrol is a recommended 230 light I believe. I have a feeling the taken king will be offered on Xbox live around December for next to nothing in order for people to buy silver.... But that is a different discussion altogether lol
-
The R32 is what changed me. Forever changed.... Regret selling mine, but couldn't bring them with me. In the US, the 1989 (maybe even 1990) R32's are legal now, because of 25 year rule. May get one again...
-
Because before our power levels only when up to 20. It makes complete sense.
-
Wait? Are we pretending that Bungie didn't make this game? I'm not following... Bungie decided this content was to be excluded by the literally infinite ways they can create their own universe.
