So, everyone knows that bungie has stated they do not want us using the same game for the next 10 years.
OK. Cool.
We don't want to play nothing but a Skinner Box game for the next 10 years.
Guess what's going to happen with TTK ?
Damn near everyone is going to get through the raid, the story missions, the strikes, the new patrol, etc within the first week. Maybe two at the most.
Then guess what's after that ? Recycle the same grind over and over and over AGAIN for gear that you think you'll like that's going to end up becoming obsolete more than likely with the next DLC.
This game is built upon pure grind and very little actual content. Not to mention TTK is about to make almost everything obsolete from Year one so it's going to balance back out to hardly have any useful content.
Previous raids will be pointless. Previous story missions will be pointless aside from the ones that pop up as daily heroics. Previous gear will be useless unless you're doing Patrol, pvp or old strikes/missions/raids.
Basically everything is being wiped and all we're getting is an expansion to fix the game to where it should have been at launch, not a whole year later after two dlc's.
Edit: lmao someone really got rekd

4 RepliesWhat Bungie should have done with the taken king and what I honestly thought they would do was to let you do the 2 previous raid activities at multiple levels, kind of like the weekly heroic strike. For example you'd still be able to do VOG at levels 26 and 30 as usual but there would be an option to do them at maybe 34 and 38 as well? Same with Crota and even POE... Then these activities could drop gear tied to the level of activity you had just completed.... Everything level 34/35 and under would only drop gear/exotics with year 1 base values.. If they made this an option only available to those who had purchased the taken king, where would be the harm? That way the older content would still be relevant and there would be loads of activities available for everybody to do regardless of their level, not to mention the incentive to actually do them. Also ALL weapons, legendary and exotic should be upgradable to the year 2 values, even if they incorporated some new kind of material (I think ascendant light is kind of catchy myself) that only has a chance of dropping from doing the new raid or other high level activities that allows you to do so... So what if people keep on using fatebringer/black hammer and gally? Maybe instead of leaving all the weapons behind that people have spent so much of their precious time chasing, (not to mention grinding repetitive bounties to upgrade) they actually allowed us to supplement our arsenal with all the new weapons from the taken king. It's not like vault space is going to be an issue is it? Maybe I'm just being cynical but It seems to me that every decision Bungie make regarding the evolution of this game is less to do with improving the players experience and more to do with forcing you to purchase the new content so you don't get left behind. Considering the quality and amount of content in the last 2 "expansions" can they really blame so many of the community for being so skeptical about the taken king? At times it almost seems like they think we should be grateful for them allowing us to play their game when in reality it's the exact opposite.

From my take this type of thing isn't new to mmo style games, once lvl caps were increased your inventory became useless once you started gaining rewards from New content. I would bored like I am now if I was able to keep my current load outs and play 10 years of this game,as it stands I have a few pieces of poe armor because to me there really irrelevant, I'm a 34 with or without out them arc burn my load out is my fangs, void woc, solar, abyss defiant, galley it's boring but it works. I'm personally glad it's all becoming irrelevant

193 RepliesI'm not meaning to be a jerk, this is a legitimate question: can you name another FPS that has reply value over a week that DOESN'T have a grind? I mean, look at CoD. After the story missions, you're literally just playing online matches to rank up, get gun attachments, and get call cards. In Halo, it's the same thing. Another challange for you: can you name another FPS that has large scale PvE (like raids) AND PvP? Cuz when comparing to Halo, it's PvE is nothing but doing missions with 2 other friends over and over. Not to mention, there is literally no value in doing it (no drops, etc). A lot of people bash on Destiny but I think they fail to realize how much Destiny has accomplished as an FPS. I've been gaming for years and to the best of my knowledge, no other FPS has even attempted what Destiny has done. Failure is expected when a company tries something new like this. Just my opinion.

can't wreck that which is already wrecked

22 RepliesI honestly wouldn't worry too much about what Bungie do with Destiny from here on out. Their first TTK reveal taught everyone, even those super hyped (and now desperately trying to defend the idea of Bungie removing the "Always relevant" exotics from relevance) that their grinding has pretty much been for nothing. Each DLC, in a bid to keep you grinding until the next DLC, is designed to make your previous efforts redundant. I don't care who you are or how much in denial the hype field currently has you. You'll wake up a few weeks after TTK drops and get to that singular moment. It will be the moment you get another new exotic and ask yourself is it actually worth putting the effort into upgrading it. Many will stay to grab a sleeper simulant but, when the first of those start appearing. One of two things will happen. The gun will be underwhelming, leading those still chasing it to have a sudden "Oh...um..and I still have 20 pieces to find and that side boss to kill to get the last piece......" or it will be OP and you'll have that other moment of "So...this is going to get removed in the next DLC I guess". These are the moments, post hype haze, when you actually stop to think. No matter how fanboy blinkered your eyes currently are. You'll have to ask yourself why? Why am I wasting my time grinding exotic X when I already have exotic Y and they will likely not transition to Destiny 2 anyway. Those who pre-ordered will be keen to have others follow them under the bus. Those who haven't will be looking at a full vault of exotics and asking what was the point? More so if you just Xurn'ed a Gjallarhorn. X amount of hours to get the best gun in the game and it's immediately obsolete. If Bungie was trying to make the worlds first aversion therapy game series. They're off to a cracking start!

there is some potential with their Quest idea, but only if they can keep it fresh

3 RepliesWhats a Skinner box?

With the invalidation of old content, this is actually a contraction, not an expansion. They are seriously stupid if they leave all old end game content in the dust.

I don't understand , we buy video games to have fun. If someone has fun with this game , who really cares ? Idk why ppl call it a "scam" or its "addictive" because that's what every video game is then. For those (like me ) that will buy the DLC bc this game is fun , enjoy it bc it's better than spending it on things like drugs or alcohol For those who find it boring , quit , and don't bother making a post about us being "sheep " or "blind" bc quite frankly , 100% reading that thread probably just laugh and tell you to leave.

I always thought it was kinda shallow to have all the dmg of a weapon Based upon that weapon. If we are going to do FPS/RPG hybrid why not just freaking add weapon skill trees. Instead of regrinding damn weapons just unlock higher levels in the skill tree.

2 RepliesI agree, the developers know this, which is why so much focus of the game is placed upon weapons/ gear and currency. The content will last a few weeks and I'll buy it because I can afford to. But I'm done grinding with Destiny as the only reason for it is to extend play time. Depending how TTk turns out will determine whether I'll play on through the years. Bungie has set their sight on NEW players, who haven't had to endure the monotony of replaying the same content... Yet. Bungie had a dilemma, make the game accessible to all (easy/profitable) or make it hard to naturally extend playtime but risk losing players who need babysitting through the game. They've made their choice.
-
HOLY F*CK AN INTELLIGENT PERSON!!! Iv'e been telling people that most of the playtime everyone has is grinding and that you cannot use that excuse to say the game or DLC was worth it.

Edited by SpakulatorX: 8/22/2015 12:58:02 PMWell, it's bungie what did you expect? Here my theory. Guns were left behind not to balance or force players to use new stuff, but because bungie will do to them what they have done with other guns: RESKIN and RESELL. Most likely future exp will have similar guns. Exotics will be revived to sell dlcs. Raids and story missions will be relevant HOPEFULLY with quest lines that drop year 2 rewards for doing specific things in raids.

"REKT" *corrected*

4 RepliesHmm lets see you could just enjoy the content instead of trying to rush through it. That might fix your problem but who knows. I enjoy every content that bungie releases and like to take my time so I can enjoy what I payed for instead of bitching like an entitled brat. Sure TDB and HOW missions were basically recycled. I still enjoyed it either way. Besides its kept me entertained longer than any other game has before so, I call that a win.

Do you realize how the island of Grand Turk feels after every storm?
because they have a couple every year

Damn near everyone is going to get through the raid, the story missions, the strikes, the new patrol, etc within the first week. Maybe two at the most.
just doing the above part myself - then its Fallout4 and Xenoblade (and maybe No Mans Sky if it arrives this year). And a few Xbox backward compatibility games I missed last-gen.
-
You will be missed, OP.
-
I'm getting the taken king, fall out 4 and no man sky's.
-
Yeah it's a grind which is what I'm used to. Most games are grinds. Most games you just finish and never go back to. And some you finish campaign and go PvP
-
That's just the nature of the beast. It's a grind, for sure. That's why I think I'm most excited to see how well they've implemented variable enemy encounters in strikes.
-
Now Bungie will knock it out the park if TTK has a completed story, and if it has the same amount of content as Destiny, TDB and HoW all together, with an expansion as soon as November with the amount of content TDB and HoW has. But just like they haven't mentioned functionally of the bayonets on some weapons, they haven't mentioned other planets, either. So this dreadnaught must be pretty big. I can careless about blue enemies of the same races that split apart when i shoot them. I don't want to fight them on the same story missions and planets as we just played in this repetitive year long beta. I'm so glad i got good in crucible. Now crucible keeps me coming back. Just need to learn how to snipe now

1 ReplyTo me, the main issue is impatient people who are going to do everything within the first few weeks. And if you don't "keep up" with them, you're left stranded, having problems finishing everything because all the cool kids have moved on. So, yeah, basically the game will be finished within a month, because the cool guys do it very quickly, and if you want to take your time, good luck finishing at your own pace...

3 RepliesRead through your replies on other posts and it seems your big boy word for the day is "ignorant". That actually reminded me of a funny story. There is this guy we grew up with and he got himself -blam!-ed up on drugs and fried his brain pretty bad. Now he thinks life is a quest and he needs to track down an imagined Indian princess and marry her or the world will end. He is not too bad when he takes his meds but one thing he does is every morning he will just out of the blue come up with a word of the day. A few days ago he was like "ok guys word of the day is "indigo", I was like I'm going to take the piss. "Chad can you use it in a sentence so I know the meaning" he goes "I love the smell of indigo". I then remembered he is a -blam!-ing nutcase but he made me laugh. Anyway maybe you can make a daily post with your word for the day.
