He's the best president in the last 30 years. He's socially progressive, he helped the country through the recession and still has his sanity even after 6 years of dealing with the far-right theocratic maggots in congress. He's not the best president but he's in no way bad either.

you want me to show you some of the videos where he said in his 2008 campaign where he would cut out national debt in half? because he doubled the debt by at the end of his first term.
-
He inherited a majority of it. What's he supposed to do?

Reagan was an asshole.
-
Name one time he was an asshole
-
In 1985 and 1986, Ronald Reagan sold arms to Iran, locked in a horrific war with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, for cash and the release of U.S. hostages. The sales to Iran violated sanctions against Iran. But much of the money that came from the sales was diverted to fund the Contras, right-wing rebels fighting the left-wing Sandinista government of Nicaragua. That was in violation of laws against helping the Contras. As noted above, George Bush had to pardon several Reagan aides in the wake of the scandal.

The Iran contra affair.

Socially progressive? So you want to see the US become socialist? The Knot-zees were socialist.
-
Progressivism and liberalism is completely different from socialism you -blam!-ing idiot.
I am a socialist BTW
-
Their goals are the same, only their methods differ. - Der
-
They're still very different. Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality. The former principle is stressed in classical liberalism while the latter is more evident in social liberalism. Socialism is a social and economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy, as well as a political theory and movement that aims at the establishment of such a system.
-
What is progressivism progressing towards then?
-
1. Same sex marriage legalization 2. Abortion rights 3. Legalization of Marijuana 4. Promotion of secularism (keeping God out of the public) 5. Racial equality 6. Gender equality 7. Helping the poor
-
Same sex marriage wasn't his decision
-
I know but it would've been harder if Obama was opposed to it.
-
1. Protecting our borders 2. Shrinking the National Debt 3. Closing the income inequality gap 4. Aggressively Addressing poverty 5. Overhauling education 6. Simplifying the Tax Code 7. Modernizing information security Those are admittedly way more important than all the social Bullshit you mentioned. He needed to focus on my list not yours.
-
My list is important as well. Besides, Obama is merely a figurehead. He doesn't have as much power as you think.
-
Yes he is a figurehead but I disagree that he isn't powerful. The american executive branch has grown in power immensely over the last 20 years; de facto, it is the strongest office in our government and the world. Your list is about making people feel good. My list is about keeping people alive.
-
Your list is about making people feel good.
Uh no. My list is about giving everyone the same rights and allowing everyone equal acess to the same opportunities. Your list is about keeping people alive yes and I refuse to comment on foreign policy and fiscality for the most part. As a social activist, social issues are what I know most when it comes to politics. Do not belittle my case and make it sound unimportant because it is.
-
I think he means on issues such as race, sexism, gay rights, etc
-
Ya the unimportant ones
-
These issues are not the major issues of our time though. We are being hoodwinked.
