Serious question. If you are a Christian and you are 100% sure that Jesus/God exists, then why do you cry at funerals when you know that you will see them again?
I have two hypotheses:
#1) Their loved one didn't believe in Jesus, so the Christian thinks they are burning in hell.
#2) Christians are NOT 100% sure that God exists and they cry because deep down they know Christianity is bullshit and they mourn just like the rest of us.
I don't see how someone who is 100% convinced there is a heaven can cry at a funeral for any other reason than the two listed above.
If I was 100% convinced that Jesus was going to rapture everyone into heaven except those filthy Jews, I wouldn't shed a tear at a funeral because there's absolutely nothing to mourn. I might cry for like an hour because it would be a long time before I see them again, but I'd get over it pretty damn quick.
EDIT #1: Nice to see all these "loving" Christians showing their true hateful colors.
EDIT #2: I can tell that some of you just can't comprehend this when you give redundant responses like, "What if they just miss the dead?" Is this really so hard to understand? Heaven completely destroys the concept of death.
EDIT #3: Now I understand why Christians are getting so mad. They're being forced to actually comprehend the reality of death and it's just too much for their brains to handle.
EDIT #4: The best answer Christians have given me is that it's like your best friend moving away. That's a fair answer, but remember, you will see them again someday for all eternity so it's really not all that sad.

Because they was left out of the will?

It's a natural part of human emotion.

2 RepliesActually, I don't cry. I'm happy they get to move on, it's a lot better than being here. I cried a bit when my grandma died, but it's just because I miss her. Kinda like if a friend got a really great new job and family in a much better house and neighborhood, and they had to move away. You'd be really excited for them, and you'd look forward to seeing them again, but you would miss them. Things wouldn't be the same without them, and some memories of them may just make you sad. That's how it is. And for all Christians on this thread who are being a bit rude, just try to be kind to other people, he's just asking a question.

1 ReplyOr because someone died a$$hat...

You sicken me

The b8 is real. Not even gonna bother with this one

This gets right to the point of why religion exists, it has a calming effect via hope. This is one major reason it is used as a ruling/political measure; pacifying the hopelessness of the impoverished and exploited masses. In sight of death, religion fails to distract from our innate fear of death, and the nostalgia of our petty lives.
-
3 RepliesBecause getting drunk, dancing around a funeral pyre and remembering the dead for the joy they brought into our lives is looked down upon. That's what my friend wants. I was thinking of building a viking boat, push him out into lake superior and loosing a flaming arrow into it.

We're sad because we won't see them anymore Besides yes, we are not 100% convinced. If you had faith the size of a mustard seed you could move mountains None of us are truly faithful
-
Because they won't see them for a long time. They won't see them in their physical body ever again.
-
They have souls
-
Or.... They loved the person that died and will miss them. You have to be the dumbest op yet on this site. " let's try to make a statement about how Christianity isn't real because they cry at funerals". As a matter of fact: calling you stupid would be an insult to stupid people.
-
While we are on the subject of death, George Carlin everyone.
-
1 ReplyBecause we are sad that we lost them from this earth and will not be seeing them for a long time. It is also a mix of happiness and sadness as well as it being a normal human reaction to cry at the death of a loved one.

3 RepliesEdited by percival_amelia: 8/3/2015 1:23:00 AMWe know they're going to heaven, but we are sad we are not going to see them for a while.
another thread from noiseless alt
Well I feel that even though you know you will see them again it's just human nature to morn the loss of a loved one. Like Jesus when he heard that john had died, he cried.
-
Same reason you cry when your best friends are leaving for awhile.
-
I don't cry, and I'm not religious
-
1 ReplyYou are a pathetic piece of shit if you don't mourn the loss of a loved one.
-
OP is so... So retarded.
-
What the hell man you really are accusing us of this I can't believe that you would just post something like this on the off-topic form and if you don't shed a tear at a wedding you should go check out your heart and go visit a help or something not saying on the Catholic but I'm a Baptistthis is absolute insanity that you would say something like this if my mom diedright now I'd probably cry because I may seen person

Edited by Seven: 8/3/2015 1:18:03 AMThem damn Christians are secretly shedding tears of jealousy. OR twist, they all know the deceased is going to hell and this is goodbye 4eva cause they gonna b raptured. or most likely; the same reason you'd cry if we send your mother to North Korea, we wouldn't be getting her back irrespective of how much fun she's having in the afterlife {North Korea}
-
Because they were emotionally attached to the loved one. My mom misses my grandpa, but she believes he's in a better place now.

58 RepliesYou ignorant little piece of shit. Everyone cries at a -blam!-ing funeral. Same as Christians. You know why? Because a loved one has passed. They can't talk to them anymore because they're gone. You piss me off, thinking just because a Christian cries it means some twisted fact you bore in your scum bag brain. No you douche, it's because they cared for the person.
