DISCLAIMER: I do NOT think all of the south is crazy. Some people think that I think all of the south is crazy because of my title. My title is just that, a TITLE!! I very much enjoy the south. It's just that considering recent events, there are more crazy people currently in the south then I previously thought. :) This is a time that I am ashamed of being a Southerner. At 7:30 CST on 7/23/15 there was a shooting at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana. There are multiple people shot, and two (including the shooter) are dead. With three mass shootings in the South in less than the month (South Carolina, Chattanooga, Lafayette), I think it's safe to say that some people in the South have officially lost their minds. What are your thoughts on this tragedy, #OffTopic? EDIT: Let's please try and keep this discussion respectful. People lost loved ones, and some people's lives have been changed forever. EDIT 2: There are now confirmed 2 people dead and 9 people injured. The injuries range from non-fatal to deathly serious. EDIT 3: It is now been confirmed that the shooter was a lone 58 year old white male. His death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. EDIT 4: It has also been confirmed that 3 of the 9 injured people are in fatal condition. EDIT 5: I edited the original statement saying that this was the second shooting in the past couple of weeks in the South. I forgot about the shooting in Chattanooga. EDIT 6: It is confirmed that the shooting occurred during the 7:00 showing of the movie Trainwreck. About 20 minutes into the movie, there were gunshots heard. The people in the theater though it was part of the movie at first until they saw the gun flashes. EDIT 7: It has now been confirmed that 3 people are dead, and 7 injured. This will be my last edit of the night as I do also live in CST, and I do have to get up early tomorrow. I will post more information as soon as I can. EDIT 8: One more edit before I go. I would just like to point out that 3 years ago on July 20, 2012, James Eagen Jones went into a movie theater during the midnight premier of The Dark Knight Rises killing 12 people and injuring 70 others. Now, I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist, but it does seem a little strange that 3 years later, another man has a shooting in a movie theater that is showing a fairly new movie. I think that maybe this man may have chosen to do this shooting because he did not like James Eagen Jones being convicted of twenty-four counts of first-degree murder, 140 counts of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of possessing explosives, which gives him either the death penalty or life imprisonment. I'm not jumping to accusations, but I am saying that the similarities and timing of the shootings are strange. EDIT 9: Information has been released on who the shooter is.
