How does the Taken King Expansion work?
So just wondering is the taken king like another dlc like the dark below and house of wolves or is it a whole new game you have to purchase? If it is its whole new game and I were to purchase it would I have to start all 3 characters over or would the cary over because of my xbox live accout? Please help me understand this better, detailed comments would help. Please, thanks!!!

6 RepliesThe Taken King is a DLC for Destiny, so you don't have to worry about creating new characters. However it's going to be the biggest DLC yet, completely overhauling most of the content in the game, so it's definitely worth purchasing.

It builds upon the previous game. So kind of like a DLC but you have more locations that aren't on the first disc.

It's just another piece of DLC. It's your money, but if I were you, I'd wait for the reviews. Not going to buy another piece of content if Bungie is simply going to re-use the same area and call it "new content". We can already see this with the new strike in TTK. Most of the strike takes place throughout the Gate Lord Venus mission.
