That was true two years ago until all states decided to do all the paperwork things. But it is up to the state

Any more arguments you would like to make or are you fine for now?

I guess I have questions more than anything. Really depends on how tightly regulated it is. If in some states someone can just walk into a shop any buy a gun with no identification, that is absolutely ridiculous. Also if someone can buy a gun with no real reason to own one, again it is a little ridiculous. Owning a gun will do nothing to protect you from the state, it will just make it easier for people to shoot each other. The very fact that you guys are saying you need a gun to make you feel safe should tell you something about your society right. Why do you feel like that? Do the police do so little that people feel like they need a gun to protect themselves? I've lived in a few different countries, including Canada and Switzerland, and never once felt like I needed a gun to feel safe. I know a lot of Americans site Switzerland as an example of a country with gun laws and low rates for gun related crimes, but unfortunately your cultures and general attitudes are so different you cannot compare the two. In Switzerland the presence of guns on the street is pretty much non-existent. You also need a permit to carry a gun with you. They are only allowed to have guns in their homes otherwise, and at that they have all been part of the militia, so their entire mindset around them is completely different.... They have guns to protect the country, not for individual safety.

You also need a permit to carry a concealed weapon and in some states like California you can't have a firearm at all, concealed or open carry. In Texas, it used to be but I'm not sure if it still is only concealed carry and if they saw any part of your firearm protruding from your shirt you could be fined because they didn't allow open carry. The reason we need to feel safe carrying a firearm is because of the crime rate. If our crime rate was as low as the Swiss's we would probably keep our guns at home but that just isn't the case in this great country of ours. Happy 4th of July!
