My PvP Thorn fix, or A Sensible Conversation about Thorn in the Crucible

Bungie would like feedback, I am not posting this to have a big fight - any constructive conversation would be pretty cool of you guys and gals. In MY opinion 2 changes would see Thorn reduced from it's current 'God Tier' to a really good PvP weapon. ANY nerf is going to annoy players and see a huge number of people stop using the gun, but a good nerf will see players coming back to the gun because of it's unique play style - something an exotic should have. The gun needs to remain powerful, and relevent, but not force other players into a "your using Thorn, I have to use Thorn to counter" situation. Change 1 - Range Decrease: decreasing the range/removing 'Send It' will stop Thorn challenging in cross map, sniper range combat. Why use a sniper or any other primary, if in the same 'time to kill' you can double tap someone cross map and leave them to bleed. The larger hit box Send It provides means that double tapping headshots at any range is much easier than it should be. I'm not saying Thorn is a 'no skill' gun - but that hit box is significantly larger for headshots. Change 2 - Remove the D.O.T's ability to kill. Stopping the last damage tick immediately takes Thorn from a 2 shot kill to a 3 shot kill. The gun still has it's Exotic properties - the D.O.T and it's ability to leave a guardian without shields or at lower health than any other weapon - but the idea of bleeding out is completely removed. A bullet will always be the thing to kill you - no more bleeding out around a corner - and much more ability to run/position/counter your way out of the gunfight. With both changes the '2 shot headshot - walk away - get kills' play-style is completely removed. Thorn becomes a strong weapon in close to mid-range combat, that requires the wielder to actually finish their gunfights, and work a little more for their headshots and kills. It still has it's draws in that a 2 shot headshot leaves an enemy fighting for their life and much more susceptible to a team-mate killing them if they get away, or being killed by a well placed 3rd shot from the Thorn wielder. In MY opinion the Thorn would be left feeling powerful, but combat-able .. Worthy of it's exotic status, but not the be all and end all of the crucible. As I said, constructive conversation encouraged.... But lets face it - this will likely quickly descend into an insulting, chaotic, mess. But maybe, Bungie will have a read and consider the points when they are looking at weapon balance. Thanks in advance for being cool, bungie forum. EDIT: These musings refer specifically to the Thorn, There is a 'big picture' weapon balance conversation to be had as well. That conversation is 2hard4me EDIT 2: Changed the title to reflect what is actually happening here, for the most part - a sensible conversation.
