For all of those who believe that exploits, cheats, boss exploits, (cheese for those who haven't been around long), are wrong in PvE activities, please ask yourself where you got this "logic" from? Below are actual facts about Console Video Games.
Fact #1 Of the 21,000+ video games ever created on consoles, how many of those have been "sanitized" of exploits, cheats, etc. for PvE levels, activities, etc.?
Answer: Less than 10
Face #2 Since the beginning of Console Gaming (1972), how many publishers and developers as well as Console Manufacturers were okay with exploits in PvE type gameplay?
Answer: 99.99%. From the beginning, gamers have found ways to exploit video games, and developers and publishers caught on quickly. Thus, developers started to put codes in many of their games, ranging from infinite health, infinite ammo, and so on. From Nintendo Power's very FIRST issue showcasing codes to CHEAT, to entire magazines being devoted to cheating, like Tips and Tricks, the reality was, EVERYONE believed cheating a game was legitimate and fun.
It was there if you wanted it, but if you wanted to play the game legitimately, you could. There were no re-releases of Suepr Mario Bros. 2 because you could get behind Wart, making the end boss a piece of cake, or the 30 man Contra code, or the 100 man trick in Super Mario Bros., or even the Halo tricks in Bungie's own Halo: CE. Yes, EVERYONE embraced exploits, boss cheats, safe spots, and so on, UNITL.... Bungie decided it was wrong. Now, we get lectured like children for "cheating" and the game gets revised over and over, while creating a ton of unintended consequences.
All of that WORK on sanitizing the game could have gone into giving gamers more content. For those of you who are fanboys and will respond to this, why bother. You have sold your heart and soul to Bungie and will defend them until the end of time.
After all, the majority of those who respond to this will have little to NO experience in Console Video Games, and will have played and finished less than 100 to 200 games, and played probably less than 10 consoles. However, that won't stop many posters from assuming their OPINION is as important as facts.
It isn't, and all I've done is used LOGIC and undisputed facts, gleaned from my actual experience. I have played every console released in the US, and also own (183 consoles) every console except the RDI, Laseractive, and Adventurevision. I also own over 5,700+ games and I've finished over 4,000 games.
I've simply stated facts, and those facts are undisputable. You may want to argue theoretical bullcrap, but the truth is, those who argue with me more than likely haven't finished a tenth of what I have, much less own what I do. For those individuals, my experience and what I've actually played and know means NOTHING to them, because only their opinion matters, since they view it as TRUTH. But truth isn't relative, and facts really, really do matter.
So the last word is this. Bungie is one the wrong side of history, and all who blindly support their Elitist snobbery do not fully understand Video Game Console's history, nor the fact that art is freedom of expression and not a prisoner of thought and expression.

Thank God for the mute option. You come off as a complete tool. The real life version of "acktually..."

Until it was focused on playing with others over the internet

Umm hello? Destiny is a multiplayer game. They wouldn't give 2 sh!ts if this is a single player shooter lol. The effects of exploits in destiny isn't that severe due to lack of trading economy but for games that do...you get people exploiting contents and creating external markets that crashes in-game economies. You're vast experience in single player games are irrelevant. Destiny needs to fix exploits to prevent players from finishing the contents too quickly.
For all of those who believe that exploits, cheats, boss exploits, (cheese for those who haven't been around long), are wrong in PvE activities, please ask yourself where you got this "logic" from?
When is "CHEATING" in anything okay? This is a morality issue, not a logical issue. Logically, you can do whatever the f*k you want, no one cares LMAO.

2 RepliesMy two cents.... If someone is altering their console, controller, lag switching, or altering code, I would call that cheating. The fact that someone either found a game mechanic exploit or purposely went looking for them is non important to me. If someone is using a cheese, or game mechanic exploit, that is on them and how they feel personally. Its bad enough that there are glitches in games, some gamebreaking. In an attempt to bring a solid game out within a determined time period smaller things will be overlooked or not seen during playtesting. Is it laziness on the developer side? How many games have come out over the years 100% glitch, bug, and cheese free?

I think the vast majority only care about the pvp exploits keeping them from the lighthouse

1 ReplyEdited by Jaccoon: 6/15/2015 6:34:14 PMCool collection. Always impressed by people's passions. I am probably a bit younger than you, judging by what you have invested and your knowledge, but I have played a lot of games and such as well. Imagine if bethesda hammered people for modding skyrim...

5 RepliesHas there really been 183 different consoles released in America?? Man I thought I was a hardcore gamer but now I def feel like a casual

3 RepliesI like the facts you fabricated.

I believe, when it comes to any game, that exploiting a game's mechanic is one thing, but going against what designers intended is another. I don't believe any designer made a wall for the purpose of clipping through it. It's meant to block off the player for a reason.
Lol, cheese the wall
1 ReplyExploits are fine in pve world. But when they are in pvp and are used for an advantage over other players, it unbalances what the developers wanted. It's not going to get anyone banned but it will get fixed. Most likely just by changing the ashes to assets perk to something else on the spine or not letting them stack.

3 RepliesSince you bought their game and agreed to that contract, bungie has every right to do whatever they want because you don't actually own the game.
-
3 Replies"Elitist snobbery". Bragging and getting on his high horse for being a self proclaimed gaming God. Crawl back into the basement and play your 10 consoles with 100,000 other games if you're too shit to finish this one without glitches. Cheesing and glitching is wrong if the developer seeks to patch it and they will.

You drunk?

I do miss the day's when I could pop in San Andreas, put in some cheat codes, and have a blast. It was some of my favorite times playing a game.

2 RepliesWow, you make some really good points! Every console, except a couple, wow. The real question is "have you ever seen a woman naked in real life?" Lara croft nude patch doesn't count.

5 RepliesEdited by ShadowAddi: 6/12/2015 5:06:41 PMAll of these flavours made available and you chose 'salty'. Yes, there have been exploits in video gaming history that have been used and quite possibly abused... but the fact of the matter is that certain exploits needed that patch. Let's use Atheon as an example. Bungie spent time and resources working on this boss fight, which indeed had its fair share of issues. One of the major exploits was to knock him off of the ledge with grenades, granting an easy win. So by your irrefutable logic, they are in the wrong for wanting to patch something they took pride in making for you, the consumer? And now, Crota, and how you could freeze him by one of the party members purposely disconnecting their internet. Another easy win, another exploit that had to be fixed because they spent their resources and time on this, another such project they took pride in. So, let me get this straight...what you are saying is that companies should embrace these cheeses, these exploits that basically give a middle finger to their project they put hard work and time into, all because of the nostalgia of the console gaming market? The world must be a very bleak place where you come from.

1 ReplyOlder games weren't patched because they couldn't be. That doesn't mean they wanted exploits players could use in the finished game. Cheat codes were for testing purposes, games like resident evil even made it so you needed to beat the game legit before you could unlock the cheats. For modern games it's expensive to patch so if its not game breaking they aren't going to fix it. Indisputable facts and logic dictate you and your experience are wrong.

I don't know if anyone said this yet but pre- 360 there where no patches or hotfixes. To fix these glitches required to rerelease the game, and let's face it why bother if it's not a major title and even then most people never bought the fixed copy wasting there money. As for cheat codes they were never suppose to be discovered as they were put into the game for testing ai and user difficulty. Your opinion is very dated and slightly misinformed as to game maker intentions.

4 RepliesAll those consoles but have you ever played a PC? Plenty of online games get patched on a regular basis to fix bugs and exploits.
-
4 RepliesYou have issues. I give zero -blam!- about "cheesing" or "exploiting" but saying someone doesn't have console experience if they haven't beaten 100-200 games and played less than 10 consoles is stupid.
