Who's better... Raiders or PvP'ers

THIS IS OPINION BASED This post stemmed from everyone complaining about IB gear getting players to 32. Then those players not knowing how to do a raid. Good Golly we better kick them from the raid right? Well in theory, You take a group of 6 x 32 Raiders and 6 x 32 PvP'ers now have them do the same activities. Once the PvP'ers learn the raid fights, they would be clearing the raid faster than the Raiders. Once the Raiders learn the PVP maps, they would still be getting their faces kicked in. Here is how I look at it. If you don't PvP you're just hurting yourself. Playing against another player is much more challenging than killing NPC's that you already know how they react to everything you do. Anyone can play the raid or strikes enough times to memorize them. I certainly have. The players that PvP, in general are better players than pure Raiders. PvP'ers: EARNED their gear, are better at twitch firing, have better situational awareness, have faster reactions, the ability to adapt to a Pve environment easily (enemies are easy to read and programmed with a limited move set) Raiders have: Sherpa Cheese The ability to learn a fight after hours of repeating it until done right / or overcome with higher levels EDIT: Raiders used to cheese 24/7 Now that is fixed and the raids have to be done legit (most of the parts) Let me say that I prefer to raid and do strikes with buddies over doing pvp. I'm just tired of those on these forums that are not correctly informed. MY POINT - Bringing a 32 IB gear player into your raiding party does not mean failure.

  • As far as gear it doesn't matter, they're equally worthy. as far as type of person? Pve. Raiders don't complain about nerfing 24/7 and they actually play the game the way it's suppose to be

  • Raiders are better at raiding. PvP'ers are better at using blink shotgun.

This like comparing marathon runners, sprinters, and horse jockeys. Sprinters are fast! Marathoners run longer! Jockeys are technically faster AND run longer!

    • I'm both I love Pvp but my characters are legit 32 with raid gear. I just feel mismatching gear to be 32 is not my style.

    • Twitch firing on a 30fps game like destiny is a joke, still think pvp'ers would win

    • Skilled PVPers are generally skilled in the PVE side of destiny. Triplewreck for example mainly streams pvp but was 2nd to clear Crota hard with some the guys in his stream. However those who are good at raids and have the mechanics down may not necessarily do well in PVP.

    • Which of the two 6 x 32 groups would shout 'Nerf this gun already' simultanuously after getting shot by the boomers twice? I.rest.my.case.

    • Is there a both-ers category? I've got two 32s but mostly play PVP.
pvp takes more skill
• Your arguement is subjective. I would challenge any PvPer to hold the left conflux solo on hard, dodging Vex and minotaurs, whilst one shotting the four sniper on the left, and just using bullets. I can do it, can you? PvPers will only ever face six targets at once, and very rarely in groups greater than two or three. PvEer's can face ten or fifteen targets at once. Minions might lack free thought, but they more than make up for it with brute force. Try staring down two minotaurs whilst you are dodging sniper fire at the conflux. As a Hunter, my feet barely touch the floor for more than an instant, any longer would signal certain death!

      • -Running around one or two shotting things with a shotgun. -Sniping. -Getting frequent critical hits to survive. -Super spamming. -Clearing an area as a primary objective. -Standing around, possibly killing, as secondary objective. -Taking control of the proper/best location(s). -Dying and respawning. -Cooperating with teammates to meet a common goal. "Is he talking about raids or crucible?" Lol both. They aren't so different. My raid team wrecks in PvP. We win 9/10 games in any playlist. We check the opposing teams before a match and we see other full teams, and we can tell who plays PvP a lot. We still win. When we lose, most of the time its to thorn scrubs lol. I send "good game" messages to those who win or at least put up a fight without needing scrub guns. Ive spent way more time in raids than in crucible, so my vote goes to raiders.

      • Both are pretty easy...this whole game is ezmode..tbh destiny really doesn't require any skill at all. Just the ability to haphazardly aim in the enemies direction, autoaim and ohk guns take care of the rest.

        • When you wrote earned I stopped reading. There is no such thing as "earning" in this game. Pure RNG. Even in Iron Banner it's easy to get a coordinated, half decent team of ransoms and reach max rank in IB in about 2 days. Easier to get Felwinter and Gear if you ask me. And yeah PvP players have skill, so does the lvl 5 warlock able to nova bomb players at B flag :p

        • So in PvP folks 2 shot with thorn, snipe with FL, Bladedance through enemies, blink/shotgun or simply shotgun in general, Fist of panic one person simply bc they shot you and took you by surprise, camp back in a hole with a sniper hiding from confrontation or simply wait for heavy ammo then rocket everyone. If this is the definition of a "better player" based on your assessment then I think you should reassess your logic, for its desperately lacking. P.S. - If PvPers are the better player please explain all the nerf this, nerf that posts. Thanks.

          • My point: If you haven't done a raid before, then you will fail. No question. Raiding takes flawless execution and a type of strategy that simply can't be applied or compared to Crucible. And Vise Versa.

Destiny is a hybrid, we have to start looking at its players as hybrids- assessing them on their body of work. I've never seen anyone with good PVP stats be a burden in a raid. And generally, 30+ in the crucible are positive performers. Most of us are decent on both sides... Those 32's going .15 in a clash match just stick out a lot more. And iron banner gear doesn't mean sht. It's just another way to grind for gear. Stop using ib gear as a measure of skill and you won't be caught off guard in raids.

            • Pros: Raiders: Like to have a good time PvP'ers: High Skill Cons: Raiders: Low Skill in PvP PvP'ers: Cocky Pros: Raiders: Better rewards PvP'ers: Cooler Armor Cons: Raiders: THE ARMOR IS LITERALLY ASS PvP'ers: Still Cocky Moral: This game is situational... Everything has it's place...
