Felwinter's Lie In Desperate Need Of A Nerf
The outcome of many crucible matches is heavily dependent on who has the Felwinter's Lie or any similarly overpowered shotgun - by overpowered I mean abilities that increase the range and or reduce the spread to such an extent you might as well snipe with it.
Even if you believe I may be over reacting when I say the outcome of many crucible matches is dependent on who has the better more op shotgun, (and please play some rumble and skirmish matches to prove me right) it does not change the fact that shotguns such as the Felwinter's Lie are absolutely ridiculous in terms of their range and one shot power from that range. It is ruining the crucible. Shotguns are supposed to be a very close range heavy hitter, not a more versatile and better handled one shot sniper.
Please comment to express your deep disappointment at Bungie for ruining the crucible by making it a battle for who has the better long range/ reduced spread shotgun.
Or humor me by trying to defend these obviously op shotguns.
BTW- I have the Felwinter's Lie, I have the shot package perk and a lot of range, it is ridiculous how op the perks make the shotgun. Fire rate has never been a problem, I one shot people from way further than close range. I used it once, wasn't even used to it, and owned the entire match. So for all those ignorant baboons that try to use me not having it as an excuse, go ahead and get your heads out of your derrières.

I've gotten killed by this thing from ridiculous ranges, I've pretty much accepted shotguns will always be used by shitler try hards and bungie will never have a decent balance in all weapons. As such my map awareness has more than tripled, I play cautious with the ability to score 5-6k points. Just watch them corner and do what I did. Get better.

I think the problem with Felwinter's Lie is the ability for it to be reforged to have Hammer Forged and Shot Package. Those perks are what make the gun OP, it's base stats actually are pretty poor bar impact. The combination of these perks and its monstrous impact stat make it a one shot mini nuke at close/close-mid range. Now I don't have a problem with shotgun wielders in PvP nor do I have a problem with snipers, fusion rifles etc, I believe everyone should play to their own strengths but Felwinter's Lie has the potential to make people lazy and reliant on one shot-one kill methods which in the end will only spite them. Conclusion then, should Felwinter's Lie get nerfed? Probably, yes. Will shotgun users suffer the nerf? No, not unless they desperately rely on Felwinter's nuclear capabilities in PvP in which case, they need to rethink their strategies.

I couldn't agree more. Too many times I play crucible and run into those unskillful players who use Felwinter's lie and snipe me from across the room. With a normal shotgun you have time to react, because you see how close people are coming at you, but with Felwintert's Lie, you have almost no time to react due to it getting you from a far distance with its high impact. It's just begging for a nerf, especially when people run around with like a primary in Rumble. Also, people who use Blink + Felwinter's Lie + Last Word/Thorn are the main reason PvP is being ruined.

Man I hate FL, but guess what, it's about to get worse. One of the ToO shotguns has the same impact, +5 more range, hammer forged, and both the range perks. Forgot the names of those perks: - increases range when ADS -decreases bullet spread It will probably have 25% more range than FL AND the same impact. Get used to distance in PVP now while u still can. Once people get that ToO shotgun, close to mid range fights will no longer be an option. SMH I don't know what Bungie is thinking. Apparently they want PVP to be a shotgun fest.

18 RepliesI love how people defend that shotgun. Theirs nothing wrong with having an OP weapon. I personally have a Pre DLC Light/Beware that rolled with rangefinder and other great perks, and that thing is long range no doubt about it. That's just one gun that happened to roll that away, and that's okay. Every single Felwinters Lie is long range. Some other shotguns might drop with a great roll, but those are fairly rare. Rare enough that it doesn't cause people to lose to it every single match. That's the problem with Felwinters Lie all of them are OP.

I run a felwinter's lie .. And dude half of the -blam!-ing game I am running around looking for -blam!-ing ammo. Maybe you should keep distance nor maybe don't rush?

2 RepliesSince the update this is no longer an issue. I haven't been gunned down by it more than a couple of times per game, and some games I don't see it at all. Of course, I don't run around the map like a jackass begging to be blasted by it either.
