I think I've finally gone crazy. Edit: We are all apparently crazy

Yesterday I had a dream and it was mainly about a girl that I didn't know. She showed up at my door and it was snowing outside. She had shortish dark hair under her toboggan and she seemed happy to see me but a little upset about something at first. Whatever she was upset about for like two seconds it didn't matter and she smiled at me and had me follow and chase after her. Through my neighborhood I ran behind and climbed fences to keep up. I was not sure of where she was taking me but something about her made me not care. She eventually stopped in one of my neighbors yards and she turned around to look at me and just as she did I woke up. The dream seemed incredibly real. The reason I think that I am going crazy is because I can't stop thinking about her and I think I may be in love with her, which is weird but in a way that I don't care. She was adventurous and it was like we had grown up together or something. Is there something wrong with me (either way I love this/it/HER) or is my brain trying to tell me something? Edit: Even crazier, I went to work yesterday and one of my friends confronted me about having a girlfriend and I was clueless to what he was talking about. Just realized this. New perspective: earlier I asked if because she is in my head does that make her not real? I'm in my head. The way I look at it is that you can be anyone that you want to be if you want to be. This allows for you to create personalities for yourself. Who is to say that this girl who has a personality inside of my head is not another person? She has a unique set of traits that aren't mine. On top of this based on what I know about how the brain works she is a set of synapses in the part of my brain associated with memory (hippocampus). My personality is located in my prefrontal cortex. What if these synapses locations were switched? Would I be her or her be me? Just in case: she's not who my song is about.

  • I'm pretty sure a toboggan is a sled like thing. How did she have hair under her sled? Anyway I've had some haunting dreams too. I don't like them.

Reposting this at the top for everyone to read if they want to The first thing that you need to do is to train your mind to realize the difference between reality and dreams. To do this I suggest keeping a note book with all of your dreams on it. Whenever you wake up write down your dream in this note book an read the last few entries that you have made. This reinforces your mind to become familiar with these occurrences so if you have a repeat dream you will be more likely to realize it.  Also start taking reality checks. Anything you can do, that would make sense for your brain, that works helps this. Examples would be counting your fingers, looking at faces for description, keeping track of time, pinching your self. When I did this I used a rubber band on my wrist because it seemed less suspicious or weird. Do these reality checks often. You want to make them as close to second nature as possible so that when you are dreaming your mind might remember to try it.  Don't eat junk food before bed. This includes fast food. Studies have shown that that eating junk food before bed raises your metabolism and causes more brain activity which makes you sleep less soundly. This also increases your chance of nightmares, and that's not what you are probably aiming for.  You can try this next step immediately and every day. It will be your gateway to your dreams you desire. Lay down flat on your back (less pillows helps too. You can have 1). Close your eyes but try to stay awake for as long as possible while thinking of what you want to dream of. It will take a minimum 10-15 minutes before you fall asleep without realizing it (some people say they feel a pressure on their chest but I never have). Congratulations, you are now unaware of the fact that you are lucid dreaming. The next step is to figure out that are dreaming. The only way of doing this is for your brain to recognize the difference between dreams and reality. The reason that you fell asleep thinking of what you wanted to dream of is because it creates structure for what you want. Your subconscious will always guide you so when you dream your mind is on auto pilot making the decisions that you would anyway inside of your dreams. However this structure that you have created is delicate. If you try to control or change your dream too much you will wake up disappointed and probably talking or trying to move. This happens because your brain activity increases when you do things manually. So avoid saying things that you want to say because your mind will do it for you. Warning I feel like giving you a fare warning about the alight dangers of lucid dreaming. I have never experienced any of these things but they can apparently happen because someone smart said so. Also do not quote me on this because I am going off of memory from like 3 or 4 years ago. I remember reading that in rare cases people who lucid dream can start to experience in reality visual distortion (not blindness) mainly with shadows and possibility of coma which can lead to death. Now I've never seen shadows distort but on nights when I'm really tire ,and a recent discovery for when I'm drunk, I see movements happen twice but in close sequence. Ex: you will move your finger across your smart device and in your peripheral vision the movement will happen twice. This isn't a medical issue but still something to be aware of as well as entertained by. As for the unlikely events of comas and death you have to ask yourself something.
do you feel lucky, well do ya punk?
If you are going to die would you like to die smiling? That is how you lucid dream. Have fun. Summary: 1.keep a notebook of your dreams you have 2.take reality checks constantly 3. no junk food before bed time 4.lay flat on your back, close your eyes and keep in mind what you want to dream about until you drift into your sleep while trying to not fall asleep. 5.once you realize you are lucid dreaming don't make drastic changes or actions or you will wake up. 6.possible warnings that you should read about if you are interested. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in learning more about how your brain works in this situation I'll make a post for that too. Let me know if you want a new thread for it instead. • I've had dreams similar to this. I've also had one of them come true... oddly enough. You never know with these things. Maybe one day a girl will show up, I never expected the girl in my dream to run literally into me while I was going for a walk through the park. But it actually happened and she looked just like the dream. I about freaked out lol.

        • I've spoken about them in detail before and it's a long story, so I won't explain everything here. I used to have particular dreams set in a 'story' that weren't always necessarily in order. There was a girl there, similar to the one you described. I think I fell in love with her, but she was only there to stop me being possessed by an evil demon.

                        • Look mate, dreams are 2 kinds, normal meanigless dreams and a vision dream. Vision can be explained if you research about it. I recommend you try to find an explanitaion from the prophet Joseph teachings in this field. Whatever you find, DONT post it, its meant for you. If you publicise it, consider it just a meanigless dream. Best of luck

                                • I dont think you're crazy. I think it's a strong desire of yours that is manifesting itself as a dream. You're just dreaming about your ideal girlfriend or wife. Keep searching for her and never give up. I used to have dreams like that too, but life became difficult and my hope faded. I don't have those dreams anymore. Just keep hope alive, and you'll find her.
