going under the stairs or jumping on top of the light?
Just wondering because screw that lol
Played it last night with two friends and if we didn't go under the stairs we would have had little chance of beating it.
Edit: Thanks for all the honest posts and tut, tut, tut to the liars. Stats don't lie ;-)

3 RepliesWent toe to toe with the mofo. Didn't work, hid under the stairs

I get up on the light with my warlock, because if I do die I can res. The other two runs we all stay on the right platform to res each other, then at the end jump in the hole to unload on his face.

4 RepliesCheck out this vid, I have used this spot many times and it works for me

I aways go under the stairs, even on Roc Strikes. It's so much fun luring him over at the end and just unloading your arsenal on his face while he just stands there stomping his feet and taking it. VT is such a tool.

I didn't with my titan made sure to fist of havoc for the win this week.

Took VoC and IB, jumped on the lamps and f*cked him right in the pussy.
-
Only because I had to solo. I'm away from home ATM, and stuck using a mobile hotspot for internet, which isn't stable enough for multiple players. Still need my coins, though.

-blam!-ing easy not to. Ramp on left head shots all day. Jellyhorn when he moves . then be on the move to finish when he's on the move
-
Yes. I stay on the platform and snipe his head. Once he moves to the other side you go to the entrance and stand behind the box. When you get him to move back you jump in the hole on the side he's going to. Shhot him a few more times and he'll walk right up to the hole. Snipe til dead.

A group of my self and two randoms got about 3/4 boss health twice before we went into hiding. The ultra or mega psi with the yellow health and void shield wrecked us every time. We couldn't damage them quick enough before they would punch or shock us in one hit death.
-
The light method really isn't that effective. Tried it on the weekly and wad still getting hit enough to kill me.

1 ReplyEdited by ZeroSix: 1/8/2015 1:18:00 PMThe biggest thing I see from the forums is how big a game changer ballerhorn is. It is like carrying a high powered can of cheese with you at all times. All content is much harder without it. Hunger if crota is definitely a good substitute, but pales in comparison. It is still able to be done legit with a lot of work. Phogoth and omni are harder. If you do not hide in the opening room of both.

When valus is the nightfall my friends and will hide in the vents above the first ramp you come to inside the room valus walks through. We only do this if there is no burn. To get to it is simple. Go into the room valus comes into kill the two cabal to your left then go up the first ramp you see when you get into the room once you get to the top jump up into the vents and there is two across from each other so if he is on one side you can shoot him and same you just jump to the other side. Be careful though his rockets can kill you

You have the same chance of rewards no matter what? Why risk going to orbit over "doing it legit"? Nobody's strategy is the correct way, it's all preference.

Tried to Duo it with a friend, he was on top of the lamp, I was stuck below. Let's just say the Psions took every opportunity to ambush me. We tried it 3 times and failed each time cuz I told him to heal me instead of staying up there haha. The 4th time we had 3 people, he went to the lamp again, me and the other guy on the floor died again, again getting wrecked by the Psion Ultras. But this time we were like F that, don't even bother healing us, so we sat there dead while he used his icebreaker to pick off Val. In the end he got Monte Carlo, I got the Radiant Dance Machine (Idk how it's considered exotic), and the 3rd guy got 12 Ascendant Shards...... Overall I miss buffs, and it made the weekly seem like child's play.

Didn't knew you can hide there but at least I got last word
-
Yeah, only time we did was when we were both dead and the other guy needed to wait for the heat to come off him before he ran out to revive us

Personally I don't hide under the stairs. Now I will use corners, boxes and such for cover. I just find hiding under the stairs prolongs the process on this specific strike. Now if it had burns I'd definitely be way more cautious. If I was carrying a level 27 through the nightfall I would place them there and let them hide while I kill. I also agree with others that's not cheesing. Cheesing is when you do something to cause the game to react in a way it was not intended. Like pushing atheon.

1 ReplyWe didn't on the weekly, but on the nightfall it's almost dumb not to. Saying you beat it "legit" is not worth the high likelihood of getting sent to orbit to restart the whole thing.

yup. stairs take too long and lights are too high. im scared of heights.

5 RepliesEdited by Near Haven: 1/8/2015 1:42:01 PMI did it 5 times. First time was legit, took us two tries. Next 4 times i played it legit but my 2 friends cheesed .., which in turn made all the enemies focus me and I spend 90% of the game dead, and they also lasted 30-40min longer than when I did it legit. I don't understand some people, you want a challenge but you cheese it if you can. And we're not talking about a 2hour time investment like a Raid.

Too busy running around, killing adds...
-
Yeah I did it legit last night, and only got coiled hiss 1919...

What mission?

1 ReplyYa. I tend to stay by where you enter the area behind the box set and behind the barriers when he is on other side. Just have to watch out for the random mob that spawns there. Don't have any problems.
