Jupiter and Saturn will never be playable because they are gas giants for those who never did science at school this means that they are made of gas and can't be walked on without sinking into the surface so yea everyone stop saying they will be planets at some point.
Edit: I'm trying to respond to everyone but it is getting harder the more people that respond so sorry if I don't respond
Edit 2: This is in no way implying that the MOONS of those planets won't be playable only that the planets themselves won't be
Edit 3: I'm getting sick of people saying TERRAFORM IT LIKE THEY DID WITH THE OTHER PLANETS you can't just make a gas giant solid and add an atmosphere and all of a sudden it's playable and nothing is wrong

Maybe you should have paid more attention to grammar than science.

I'm with you there, so impossible. Though space magic, so anything is possible.

1 ReplyIt may still be pssible. If you read the book of sorrow, the planet that the hive are originally from was a gas giant that had "floating continents.l", so it may still be possible if Bungie decides to go with the same idea.

You ever heard of a place called Bespin? It's called science fiction for a reason.

Edited by Skeleton: 10/15/2015 11:27:56 PMThe early hive species inhabited planets like the ones you've listed. They more or less has floating land masses, and traveled around in "sea vessels". It's written that they take a ship and delve through the surface of the planet to its core. In the destiny world, being able to survive on Saturn and Jupiter is not far fetched.
We have to dive,” Sathona said, following the whispers of her familiar. “In the world beneath us, in the metallic depths, I hope we may find what we need most..." The needle ship pierced the skin of the world and burrowed deep. Through layers of foam and metal and cold elemental slush. Aurash devoured the ship’s maps of Fundament, from the high angelic cloud decks, down and down through storms and oceans and plates of floating world, into the crush of the core.
Floating land masses sounds very similar to what you denied being possible.

Well seeing as Venus was changed by the vex and is now tropical even considering it's close proximity to the sun I'm pretty sure the gas giant's could easily be changed and made more hospitable or become solid altogether.

Space. Magic. That being said, I also doubt we'll play on Jupiter or Saturn.
-
I would like to point out that we regularly have gladiatorial matches on Mercury. You know, the ones in which we come back from the dead?

Edited by Miro_1325: 10/15/2015 11:06:41 PMRemember the traveler made atmospheres on all planets in the solar system, and the planets aren't gas all the way through they have a surface, just a very violent surface that's quite harsh. It wouldn't surprise me if the traveler made a Goldilocks zone inside of these planets for Guardians to live on.

1 ReplyWe have been on Mercury. The average temperature is 447 degrees Celsius. It drops to at least -100 degrees Celsius at night.
-
1 ReplyI think visiting Jupiter or Saturn would present less of a problem than somehow being on Venus or mercury and not melting your face off. Jupiter more than likely has a solid core, so you could probly visit it relatively easily.

Science. Fiction. Video. Game.

You can make a gas giant solid if you want, it just requires a little programming. Yep that is right, it is a video game world. Anything is possible, final raid in year 10 we will fight the Rex. It is a dinosaur community built by the Vex and they live in the sun.

I believe the traveler who came to earth last changed the planets to make them it inhabitable by human type races such as awoken human and if you consider them a race exo

10 RepliesGonna pull a bit of lore here (I think). The hive actually lived on a gas planet before coming to our solar system. They were situated on the solid core of the planet. Now it has been heavily theorized that the gas giants of our system also have solid cores. If this is the route bungie wants to go then all that would be required is that our armor would have to be able to withstand the pressure and weather. Oh btw...
Science bîtch!
-
But admit cloud city would be tons of fun!
-
1 ReplyWho cares about being scientifically correct??? Make a Jupiter looking planet and put a new monster on it... Who cares if in real life you can't?? That's what video games are for... To do stuff we can't do in real life.

1 ReplyEdited by Fatman9994: 10/15/2015 10:31:55 PMIt's a -blam!-ing game. Jesus H -blam!- you act as though alien races wielding magical powers is plausible but a planet being altered is just too -blam!-ing out there.
-
1 ReplyIt's a VIDEO GAME if they want to make jupiter or Saturn a playable planet then they can. Video games aren't bound to the laws of science
sometimes

Saturn is not solid like Earth, but is instead a giant gas planet. It is made up of 94% hydrogen, 6% helium and small amounts of methane and ammonia. Hydrogen and helium are what most stars are made of. It is thought that there might be a molten, rocky core about the size of Earth deep within Saturn.
http://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/ask/116-What-is-Saturn-made-of-

Pluto? :3

Its a bloody game bud it is possible

Floating vex platforms. Problem solved.

Add two new solar systems and have us take the fight to the cabal or the vex. Have a map that has us choose between the three solar systems and than planets between those. Add spaceship fighting like in halo reach and maybe a new race. A reptile type race and maybe a friendly race to have a base of operations on. Also think going into the Americas on earth would be nice. Maybe find surviver's

Could travel to some of their larger moons, or if we can't walk on those planet, maybe we could fly on those planets. Give our ships some use.
