Adam Carlla's Rant against the Huffington Post: 'You Guys All Have Blood On Your Hands'

source
Comedian Adam Carolla ripped the Huffington Post for trying to stir up a racial storm over an interview he had with California Lieutenant Gov. Gavin Newsom involving black and Latino success. “The Huffington Post has come out with a story that says ‘Adam Carolla to Gavin Newsom: ‘What’s wrong with blacks and Latinos?’’” Carolla said on his podcast Friday. “That’s not what I said to Gavin Newsom. I didn’t bring up blacks and Latinos. He brought up blacks and Latinos.” He continued, “But let me take this moment to now talk to all the p—–s that are out there trying to stir things up and turn me into a racist. I got news for you: Me saying parents should stick around and raise the children – me saying families and cultures should focus on education — is not radical or revolutionary. It’s the f–king truth.” Carolla, who has harshly criticized the “slanted to the left” media before, said Newsom “is the system” and knows what it takes to fix it but won’t because he’s a “f–king coward.” “Guys like Huffington Post — you guys f–king line up behind these people and let me tell you something, you guys all have blood on your hands, because the problem could be fixed. It’s a problem, and it’s a problem that involves bodies. People die every year,” Carolla said. He continued, “There’s people getting shot. There’s brown people shooting other brown people on the streets of Chicago every f–king day of the week. And you guys sit there silently. If it was a Sandy Hook situation or anything else, you’d be all up in arms. But you can’t say a word, so you sit there with your f–king coward hands over your f–king little cowardly soup coolers.” “And then when somebody has the guts to say something — to speak the truth for f–king one hot second, you jump up his ass and call him a racist. Thus, you silence the media. Now you perpetuate the problem,” Carolla said.
video here its really good the video speaks the truth pretty well.

If you're going to speak "the truth", then you have to be sure it's... true. Truth (about things like inner city crime rates, out of wedlock births, etc.) can be proven with facts. If you're going to call something "the truth", it's important to be sure to separate truth from "truthiness" (that is, what simply feels true but is not backed by hard evidence). If you're going to accuse those on "the left" of silencing people through cries of bigotry and racism, what about those on "the right" who do the same thing by accusing anyone who disagrees with them of being "thin skinned" and crying about "political correctness"? If you can cite scientific research that shows that one race is more likely to do something than another race (and you can, easily), then no one can call you a racist for citing that research and offering suggestions as to how that group can improve. Carolla said:
"The family is the number one problem in the Black community. […] It's simple. Fathers, stay at home, raise your family, do your homework with your kids, put an emphasis on education like the Jews, like the Asians, and let's see what happens to the problem in 20 years."
For one, poverty and lack of education is a problem in the Asian-American community, whatever stereotypes lead us to believe. Carolla was just yelling stereotypes with no research to back them up.

      •
There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.... After all we have been through. Just to think we can't walk down our own streets, how humiliating.
Remarks at a meeting of Operation PUSH in Chicago (27 November 1993). Want to know who said that? The Revered Jesse Jackson. Even he admits (and comments on his own personal shame) that there is a real and nearly universal perception that skin color can give him or anyone a higher fear of being harmed by one stranger than another, simply by the color of that stranger's skin. The problem is not that we human beings instinctively and quite naturally make such quick prejudicial judgments, it's that we know, but feel afraid to express the realities of WHY we make them.

        • Actually listening to this, my criticism is that he's blaming Huffington Post, yet they're in support of the poor and higher education standards and funding. He's mostly just mad at them for calling him a racist, but he's yelling at the wrong people.

          • Adam is right to a large extent. You can't talk about the inner city communities, the out of wedlock birthrates, the teen pregnancy rates, the gangs, etc without being called a racist. And it's not just white people like Carolla who can't speak up, if you're black and want to talk about these things you get hammered down too. Ask Bill Cosby.

Does it really matter who brings it up? If someone asks me, "How do you feel about the Holocaust?" and I say,"F YEAH GO HOLOCAUST," am I automatically not at fault just because I didn't bring it up? Also, this reminds me of a little thing that happened with Hillary Clinton a few months back and some comments she made about Benghazi, where FOX news chose to ignore some of her words to help prove a point. Remember that? You think this guy remembers that? And no, I'm not saying he was wrong, he just needs to calm the hell down and realize his party does the exact same thing.
