We'll never make it past the solar system.

I'm pretty sure it's technically impossible for Humans to travel anywhere past our on Solar system. What comes after is just deep space and the best idea so far is to use solar sails, only problem is you need the Sun for it to work. The next galaxies are light-years away, soo unless we can go faster then light (no) then we ain't going anywhere.

I don't know, I think we probably will eventually, if we last long enough. In the past, people doubted we could even get out of our atmosphere. It may be a long time, but eventually we will probably have self-sufficient ships which could travel indefinitely. As long as you don't crash, you won't lose your momentum if you run out of fuel. Just hope you don't get too close to anything.

  • The fact that we may possibly colonise the other planets and moons of our solar system is a feat and a marvel for me, in-and-of itself.

  • Who the hell says we need to reach another galaxy?

  • Even if we don't invent FTL drives, there's still the possibility that we'll build massive generation ships.

    • I know right? Humanity is just a blip in the system, we were never meant to be here anyway.

      • "never" is the time of fools. People once thought we would never leave the trees, we did. Then we would never move north, we did. Then they thought we could never cross the Atlantic, we did. Then we would never fly, did that too. Then we would never travel faster than sound, got that one. Then we would never leave our atmosphere. Did that too. Then we could never reach the Moon. We've been there how many times? If you mean never in our lifetime, you are probably correct. If you mean never at all, then you are a fool. Human history makes fool of every person who said we would never do something.

      • I very much doubt we ever will too, but it's still possible.

        • Why are you talking about the next galaxies? There are other solar systems.

          • There will be better propulsion systems in the future that have yet to be invented. So it's still possible and attainable in my mind, in the future.

          • If wormholes are real and we could open one that could work. Also we could "bend" space, another possibility. We just have to find a shortcut but it is possible to leave the solar system, just depends how long it takes. But in 1-2 billion years, our oceans will begin to boil as the sun keeps growing till 7 Billion years it becomes a red Giant which will have a diameter of 1 AU and engulf the Earth.

You have no way of knowing, look at how far we've advanced in only the passed twenty years. It won't happen in our lifetime, but its still a possibility for th future of Humanity.
