We are nerfing Divinity so that you can use other weapons we nerfed in the past

Bungie, please understand that your logic is flawed.

  • Nothing changes really. You just use void hunter again on bosses, like we always did before Divinity.

    • Ain’t the whole power fantasy of Destiny “becoming a unkillable god” or something like that ? I don’t know why people constantly ask for nerfs in PvE when , we’ve been fighting the same scripted Ai enemies for the past 8 or so years. Destiny isn’t this hardcore MMO that so many of y’all want it to be and it never will .

    • A new load out will emerge and that is what everyone will use. It will be exactly the same as the Divinity meta, but instead everyone will want three tether hunters and three well locks. And titans will be worthless in raids, since they don't offer up a debuff and their damage buff is the same as well, but doesn't offer the ease of use and survivability that a well does. True banner shield offers more, but is that worth sacrificing someone's damage for?

I just got the gun and its kinda shitty that its gonna be nerfed right as I got it and let me be very clear this weapon is part of content that is paid for not something you can get as a random drop from exotic engrams. You had to pay money to be able to obtain it. Not to mention the method of which you obtain it is set in stone and it is not easy its very diffcult even now it took almost 4 hours to get this weapon from the raid part alone. Thats not including the build up to get it thats another 1 to 2 hoursish. So around 6 to 8 hours total, as opposed to just randomly getting tractor from a drop that could theorectically drop in your first few hours as a brand new player which incidentally is exactly how I got tractor. On top of that nerfing divinty debuff is not the way to balance it considering the other two options give the same amount of debuff divinty currently has, which means the amount of debuff it gives is not the problem its the ease of use that is the problem so why arent you nerfing its ease of use? Make it harder to use, lower its max ammo capacity, lower the radius of the bubble, increase the amount of ammo spent to maintain the debuff, so many other options than making this paid content weaker than its counter parts that correct me if im wrong dont require any purchase of additional content to obtain. All they are doing is creating another imbalance because now the other 2 options are stronger than divinity and they arent even paid content. Thats a big issue and not that many people even have it. It was hard asf for me to get a group of people together to even acquire it in the first place no one wanted to do it because getting it was such a time consuming thing to do and downright annoying. Now that I have done it myself I understand the lack of people wanting to do the task it was long and arduous. Its definately not something I would want to have to do again I mean seriously it was extremely annoying and time consuming to get. That being said it should be that time consuming and arduous to get for such a strong raid option. The difficulty to obtain it merits its strength and that is on some old content that should be easy therotically by now but it was not. The raid in and of itself is still difficult for people that have never done it which is the only people still running it that are left, (new people) because its that old. As others have pointed out, if it was that big of a problem they should have done something about it years ago not wait until years later to finally address it, especially when they took the easiest way out of dealing with it by giving it a flat damage nerf. Thats something that takes literally 3 secs to do but it took you 4 years to implement? That makes the reasons they are giving for the nerf seem very disingenous. Like is what they are telling the public the real reasons its being nerfed? I am inclined to believe as someone else already stated that it is for profit making. If it really was about letting the others shine they would have and should have nerfed it within the first year instead of waiting 4 years to do so. They had no problem nerfing the vex mythoclast when it was strong for a season because of seasonal mods mind you SEASONAL mods that were only available for a few months. It didnt even last a year of being strong before it got nerfed yet divinty lasted 4 years and now all of a sudden its getting a nerf. Come on now lets be reasonable here that should make anyone question the validity of their claims for why its being nerfed.

      • Bungie has been "currating" our loadouts forever. After the div nerf they'll probably say that Linear fusions are the problem and they'll be nerfing those too because "snipers, GLs , RLs and LMGs" don't get much play anymore. Ya, because y'all nerfed those into the dirt too. They'll probably hit Tractor cannon eventually as well 😂 But that's been the way things have been forever. Whenever a certain weapon or archetype comes up (usually after they nerf the previous best in slot) they'll come out and say "it's too hot and needs to be brought down" while also buffing a weapon type they previously killed. Or they'll just ignore it completely and let it die in the ditch since it hasn't been relevant for 2-3 yrs *cough* Darci, Whisper etc... *cough*

        • Gotta love how they tried to do damage control by including that had been on their radar for a while. No it hasn't. We've been using Div since Shadowkeep, and it was never once a problem. And if you exist in a fictional world where you believe Bungie doesn't prioritize streamer feedback, then why are they nerfing Div before fixing Duality?

          • As someone who is in the elitist PvE player section even I'm getting tired of the other people constantly -blam!- and complaining about how things need to get nerfed because they feel that they're not being tortured or pushed enough. Saltagreppo and all the other pve players that said that div needs to be nerfed to make it more challenging can go bite me. I know that Bungie wants to continuously change their game buffing and nerfing things to make it a type of game where everyone will use everything but there's some items that should just never be touched and nerfed and div is one of them. Bungies excuse comparing tether and tractor cannon to divinity is like comparing apples and oranges. Yes tractor cannon has a 30% weakening just like divinity but the only difference is it's much harder to do because you have to be close up near an end boss because it's a shotgun also you have very limited amount of ammo because it's a heavy weapon and tether it can only be used for a couple seconds and then he had to wait 4 to 8 minutes for the Super to be refreshed. While divinity you can continuously use as long as you have special ammo so them making excuses that this is going to be beneficial to make the game more challenging all that the dev have done is made the game harder and more brutal. Div made it fair for everyone including low skilled and high skilled players I knew a couple people that couldn't do this day one because they didn't have Div while I knew a couple other people who did have div and got it done by the skin of their teeth. Even I had the same experience during this day one kingsfall where my team got it done with the very useful help of div and something that would have taken maybe 22 to 24 hours only took 13 hours because of div now just imagine what happens when div is nerfed. I will say one thing it's not healthy to stay awake for long periods of time because it can cause medical injuries that can cause death so the fact that Bungie is making it harder and more time consuming to do something like a day one raid while also decreasing the amount of players that can actually succeed in completing a day one and also making challenging game pve game modes much more harder and time consuming. It’s insulting and disgusting what they are doing. I'm really iffy on whether or not to spend 100 more dollars on their crappy DLC since the day one raid is most likely going to be an absolute nightmare. I'm not going to risk my health for a pve day one game mode that has an even higher now decrease chance of completing.

            • Kinda makes sense, now you can pick from Tether, Tractor Cannon, or Divinity all give you 15% damage buff and Divinity still gives you giant crit bubble. Everyone is still going to use.

                • I don’t know how you can even justify the divinity nerf. Yea it was good, okay? It’s a raid weapon it should be good. The weapon is also not going to be something that the average everyday player has. People like salt complained about it because they sit on their -blam!- everyday and play the game constantly so of course he’s going to think the game is easy compared to everybody else. It’s like an aerospace engineer working at NASA telling a bunch of middle schoolers that algebra 1 is too hard and they need to start doing calculus at least. It’s an elitist problem, and guess what nobody gives a -blam!- about your 0.1% problem, you’ll get no sympathy from the rest of the community

                • It's a Bungie failure cycle. 1. Players receive x. 2. Players find x is good for its intended use. 3. Bungie realizes that people are using the thing they made because it does what it should 4. Bungie panics, craps themselves, and immediately starts working on a "tuning pass" 5. After ruining what they've created, they begin work on y so that the cycle can begin again

                  • 2% of players acquired Divinity. Global Item Analytics and Rarity: Trace Rifles It was just unnecessary. But that's the problem, there is so much wrong, but it's just ignored, and overlain by actions with a more symbolic impact, as an useful one. ...and it's going like this since a long time. Making a video game is a complicated process, and making Games as a service even more, but with Destiny 2 there was so much wrong decisions that I start to think that Bungie (no offense!) isn't capable of handling his own content. Anyhow, it's just a game and my very own problem if I give it that much attention, like I did over the years.

The great thing about Destiny is that the meta is constantly shifting. There's no need to get upset about it Brand new meta weapons will undoubtedly be a part of the upcoming DLC

                        • Man this is so bait I cannot even begin to summarize properly without needing to write a novel to hit everything. TL;DR - Either OP is baiting for attention or is actually just a rich person with rich people problems. PS: you can still be helpful in a clan looking to help teach and guide others OP WITHOUT JUST Divinity...Especially when you have just about Every Exotic Weapon and Armor In The Game.... PPS: If you actually are genuine, you can either have Power Creep, or Nerfing. Do you really want Destiny 1 Pre-2.0.0 where it had both?

                          • Destiny is a looter shooter. The desire to get loot is a big part of the game. They boost something to make it desirable so that people chase it. Then they nerf it, and buff something else to make people chase it. It's the same pattern for 8 years now. Maybe find a game that has the same meta forever, if that's what you like?

                          • I think a problem not being talked about is that they intentionally design encounters around the boss being debuffed in some way. They didn't specifically say div, just a debuff in general. I feel like debuffs should be something you CAN do, not NEED.

                            • It’s not a flaw, it’s by design. The fact that Bungie is working around Divinity and based their encounter design around it shows that they have no plans of changing it for years now. Divinity is a reward you can get from the paid portion of the game. So they are selling the gun and it’s designed power. This is all about making money. Powercreep is not a flaw, it’s part of the design of making profit. It’s like bait. You entice gamers about the power of a paid loot, then sell it for years. This has been going on for years. It’s all planned to make profit. If the gun is so broken, they could have nerfed it a long time ago just as easily as they are doing now instead of designing encounters around it for years now. Better yet, if they know it’s that broken, then don’t put it in the game. But no, they have to put it in the game, then work around it, because they are selling it. It’s about money, not fun. That’s what games for service are designed for. It’s not about your fun, it’s about making money in succession for a prolonged period of time. Gamers should wake up to this fact if you want to understand why this is happening for years now in this game. It’s like pandering to gamer’s addiction towards the most efficient loot. They sell it and then gamers chase it so they can use it. They designed it this way for one purpose only, make profit. They make the loot, sell it, then destroy it when the time comes. Rinse and repeat. They are literally destroying their own creation. Gamers will find another thing that the community will soon trivialize again. The process repeats itself over again. The only thing that’s constant is the money that goes with this king of pandering. That’s what it’s all about with these types of game for service games. If you like this kind of game design, then drown yourselves in it because it’s been like that. I call it broken and empty game design. Stagnation. You’re not really going anywhere because they themselves destroy their own creations. Because the real objective is money. When you let greed rule your design, this is what you get. Empty and broken game. That’s why I stopped playing years ago when Activision left. Empty and broken. Haha!🤣
