Think of your standard mmos like wow or ffxiv. Instead of me paying for a season that lasts 3 or even 6 months I pay $15 (US) per month. If you look at these games they have a ton of things to do simply because they have the money to develop them and are driven to get as much recurring revenue as they can. Yes you would pay for expansions but in this business model you wouldn't pay for seasons or dungeons etc. You pay your monthly subscription fee and your expansions. It's not like consumers aren't willing to do it. It's been proven to work in other games and maintain population. Of course their challenge would be to create more content and to make that content better. Simply because unlike a season where you already have my money, you are now trying to get my money each month. The company stands to make a lot more but more is required of them.
