I just read the latest crucible thread from Joe Blackburn. While communication is key to a great dev/community relationship, it might be too little too late. He states a renewed focus on pvp, not in those words but in principle. And new upcoming maps. While new content is always appreciated the amount of time in between said content is unacceptable.
Trials will be getting a rework next season, no time frame stated. And we’ll be getting new maps in season 16. Season 16 won’t start until 2022. I don’t know what the count since a new map was introduced is up to. But I think that puts us over two years.
With new and old game modes returning/being introduced in 2022 also. We’ve all heard and read the same sentiments before. And with the majority of the pvp community already gone or dabbling in other games. I think the neglect of the crucible has done irreparable damage to the pvp community’s trust of this studio.
I want to believe they actually care about pvp. But actions speak louder than words. And they’ve done the absolute minimum over the past 2 years plus to show they care. I just don’t believe them anymore. And until they show me/us otherwise. I’ll never be able to.
Sorry for the length. Rant over.

100% too little/too late. Still doing the bare minimum to try and keep pvp alive and it won't work. For the people still playing crucible i salute you.

Definitely too little too late

they just don't care

I guess playing against m&k players on console will be easier since they cant endlessly strafe slide with pinpoint accuracy but i still dont like it.

....was a joke. (Just to continue your title with an appropriate following)

We will not be getting new maps in season 16. We are getting 2 vaulted destiny 2 maps. Probably meltdown and the trials of the nine map by my guess or could the calus raid pvp map. We are then getting 1 new new map which is actually new in s.17 and the back to a old d1 map in s.18. That's your pvp content for 2022.
Trials will be getting a rework next season, no time frame stated.
Its looking like Trials is/has been the focus. Which, if they were actually going to "fix" it, then it makes perfect sense that a large amount of effort has been going into that mode. Imho gameplay is the most important thing for this game to get right if it wants to build a PvP playerbase. And a while back there were some things mentioned about the actual gameplay in trials. So basically what I'm waiting to see is if the focus on that mode has been about getting the gameplay right or if its still going to be almost totally a contest of combat rating strength like pretty much every mode in the game currently.
And with the majority of the pvp community already gone or dabbling in other games.
The one thing I've noticed about the halo reveal over the weekend is that everything that everyone says about what they liked about it has to do with gameplay. Not rewards, or what the casuals and sweats are going to be doing or soap opera stuff. The gameplay. If Destiny sticks to the gameplay it will most likely be fine. Unfortunately there is somewhat of a problem in this game where a lot of people who aren't dabbling or gone focus on everything but the gameplay and what the game is actually doing. So the appearance of catering to people for whom its questionable if they even like PvP to begin with is going to have to be handled somehow. Other than that, the news wasn't all that bad. There's still that one thing that may take place over the next year or so. Hopefully it will be before lightfall. If not, its still very important that there be at least one mode where skill ratings aren't determining everything. Its more important to have that than almost anything else at this point because not having that is what drives the people who call themselves PvP players (who also play PvE) from the game whether anyone is ready to admit that or not.

Probably losing players and now they’re trying to do something about it. I hope halo is good I am ready for another game. Back 4 Dead will also be out and if it is as good as the other two I will be busy.
