I am SICK TO DEATH of being told how to play/what gear to use.
I play middle-tree Striker Titan, I use Bygones, IKELOS shotgun and Thunderlord. I run Year-One Iron Banner armor with the Armamentarium.
That's what I LIKE!
I DON'T WANT TO USE SMGs AND FUSION RIFLES.

And you people have the AUDACITY TO LOCK IRON BANNER ENGRAMS BEHIND QUEST STEPS WHICH FORCE ME TO USE CRAP THAT I DON'T LIKE/WANT.
This shit's getting old. No, this shit got old over a year ago.
It's gonna be a beautiful blamming day when you stop catering EXCLUSIVELY to the vocal minority of players who want everything to be a long, drawn-out tedious mind-numbing grindfest.
Jeesus H Christ, I already work for a living. I play video games to ESCAPE work. This shit's a chore.

I had over 500 Banner tokens after using the old wolf tokens that no longer have use. They become 25 per and I had over 500. Looked-up the quest steps just to redeem them. Like I said, I [b][i]had[/i][/b] over 500 tokens. XD

2 RepliesThe real problem is the grenade launcher step when everybody tries to grab heavy and nobody ends up getting it for long enough to make a kill.

All of the other objectives you can complete without even thinking about them. Can't wait until you try getting Randy's Throwing Knife. Besides, you're not being forced to do anything. Doing that quest gives you the full armour set along with each of the weapons it asks you to use. All weapons can still drop post-match too. The only one making anyone do anything by force here is you, to yourself, by deciding that the Y1 IB armour is the only armour you can wear. If you can't accept that you have to put in a minor amount of effort to get the rewards you want in a game, then maybe gaming isn't an ideal escape for you.

So, play like that. If games are an escape only thing for you, use the gear you want and shoot stuff. If you don't get joy by playing this game, try another. Simple.

I work and have a lot on my plate, but playing a video game is still playing a video game. Even with the game's biggest "chores", it doesnt seem even remotely close to being at work. There have been a fair amount of bounties and challenges that require the use of items that I'm not overly fond of. But if I'm playing to earn something, using items I don't enjoy is part of the cost of earning it, at least that's how I see it in my mind. Be realistic, not every task can appease every single player and be 100% enjoyable all of the time. Some things will be less entertaining than your favourite habits/activities. That's why Destiny as a whole is a good game and likely so popular, because there is literally so much to do that caters to so many tastes. But that's just how I see it.

2 RepliesI agree with you. If I want to dabble in iron banner, I shouldn’t have to run a quest to do so. Sure if it was for a sick piece of armour or something ok. I get it, can’t get the reward if you don’t play. But this is too far.

I will not knock you for choosing to use a very limited range of rather highly effective weapons, but I will say branching out is nice if you find a way about it you do end up liking. I find the weapon requirements annoying merely because of them asking my characters to use guns they would normally not use, but the SMG bit might be easy since they all have their own

I totally agree. I suck with pulse rifles. I'm doing it so I can get the armor, but I'm probably going to piss off every team I play with.

Yup as soon as that quest hit step two I did what everyone with good sense should do. Turned the game off.
