I’ve got a better idea ban all exotics from competitive play that would include the crucible - trials of the nine - iron banner and gambit which would solve this issue
Ps bungie wouldn’t even have to nerf a single weapon with this idea

Or introduce curated loadouts - people wanna talk about "skill," let's see how things go if everyone's using the same guns. (The entire conversation about "god rolls" and metas is literally an admission that skill has little to do with the current system, and there are too many variables to ever "balance" any competitive game type.) In Gambit, everyone gets a set roll of any of Drifter's weapons to choose from - can rotate daily/weekly, or just a default set with no perks. Same with Shaxx' guns in Crucible, and Saladin's in IB. No Exotics, no Raid guns, no "god rolls," adjust the DPS and weapon performance separately for those environments. A lot of players have been asking for a separation of PvP and PvE for a long time - the simplest way to keep competitive play from continuing to be the meta-driven god-roll-dominated madhouse free-for-all it's always been is to separate the gear itself, rather than trying to make every gun perform differently in different activities without it becoming awful (or super-OP) in at least one of them. PvE guns for PvE, PvP guns for PvP, separate balancing, separate adjustments, separate ammo economies and mag sizes, job done. Still not gonna play PvP outside Dailies, but at least I wouldn't have to wonder why my Scout's always empty from having to 2-crit ads on patrol. :/
