STOP SPENDING SHARDS ON SPIDERS MASTERWORK CORES.
On days like today, you want to buy Simulation Seeds from Spider. Buy 100-200 Shards worth, which is 500-1000 Seeds, or 10-20 packages at a time.
The reason for using Simulation Seeds is because the shaders from leveling Vance dismantle into Shards, unlike the other vendors. Ive heard Mars does the same thing but haven't tried on Mars.
Trade them all to Brother Vance on Mercury and break down everything, even the shaders. Among a few cores per run, you will get all of your shards back, give or take a couple each time. Rinse and Repeat until satisfied.
Starting with only 225 Shards, Ive gotten 90 Cores today in 4 ish hours. And I still have 72 Shards left. So basically, 153 shards turned into 90 cores. That would have only bought you 4 through Spider in one day.
Its tedious, and not particularly quick, but better than 3 cores a day for 70 shards. This is NOT a cheese or glitch, but rather taking advantage of the material economy that Bungie gave to us..
INB4 People come in saying some youtuber posted this already, not everyone watches youtube, so Im spreading the word in Text here on these forums. Help each other.
EDIT:
This is still an RNG based farm. Know that some of you will see better returns than others. I got very lucky and had a few packages that even dropped double masterworked drops. Also note that masterworked gear can drop 1-3 cores each, so some of you will get 1 while others will get 3. I recommended using small amounts like 100-200 shards at a time so you can test your luck rather than dumping 1000+ and seeing terrible returns. This method is the very definition of Gambling. Someone in the comments averaged out at 12 shards per core, as to where someone else claimed they averaged 70 shards per core. Person 1 got a good deal, person 2 not so much. Again, it's RNG.
3 Replies90 Cores ayy? Or 90 Transits AYY?

Thanks for the tip, it's probably something I wont' use due to time restrictions and my not bothering with infusing, but it's good to know some are out there trying to help others.

3 RepliesJust did 1000 seeds. Got two master worked items, turned into 2 cores. Those were the only cores I got at all.

Edited by Corrick II: 10/5/2018 2:04:48 AMGood tip, thanks! Definitely RNG-based but if you got the shards and don't care, why not. Me personally, I just don't infuse anything unless I really want it, which I've begun to realize is a very few items. I've only infused two weapons and an exotic piece of armor with cores so far. Crazy what you realize is actually important when you need to be selective.

1 ReplyIs it possible to get new exotics from Vance? I have plenty of Cores but desperately want some new exotics

So basically...cheese Riven?

4 RepliesWhen he said in 4 hours he wasn't joking in one way this is a good suggestion in another it's terrible... the worst suggestion ever. I have spent 30-40 plus mins doing this and although I have gotten my shards back to about the same level of shards each time... I got not even a single masterwork core... huge waste of time. Super rng and time consuming. I would likely have almost an easier time just playing the game and playing is way more fun than 20 trips to the Spider and Vance

I am fine, still have 400 masterwork cores from farming tokens on titan turning in and dismantling for cores, way months before Forsaken dropped

This is old news

8 RepliesI have a job. I'm not spending 4 hours sharding.

1 ReplyI want to tell YOU something: most shaders that are not Eververse will dismantle into shards. Hope I helped! :D

17 RepliesJust wanted to endorse this method. It's time consuming and tedious, but currently the fastest and most reliable way to farm cores, weapon parts, and mod components. I did 1,000 shards / 5,000 seeds yesterday and again today. Here are my results for anyone wondering what kind of return you can expect on this, though like anything it's highly dependent on RNG and results may vary significantly. Also, not mentioned above is that you can get exotics from both Vance for turning in the seeds, and from Banshee from turning in the resulting weapon parts. 1 ReplyI just wish there was a bulk purchase option.

4 RepliesApparently you have the most amazing rng luck in the world because I was doing some of this today and in my first batch of 2500 mats (aka 500 shards) I got 12 cores for a net cost of 76 shards minus whatever I could get from the gunsmith. I then did another 2500 mats and I only got 6 cores for a net cost of 100 shards. Combined, that's 18 cores for 176 shards or 1 core for every 9.7 shards. Another person on Reddit posted about this a few days ago and they averaged a core every 7-ish shards by turning in many thousands of mats, a far cry from your supposed 1 core for less than 2 shards experience.

3 RepliesDon’t even need to spend shards on Mercury stuff you can just put on Sagira’s shell and just go around, I can get a few hundred in an hour super easy farm and don’t have to spend your shards

1 ReplyI think it get fixed...

The prestige raids also drop masterwork gear, guaranteed. You can get several from those. Not sure how many, but it is gauranteed.

1 ReplyThanks for posting this. As far as returns for me, I just gave this a quick run before work and got about 6 cores out of my old stockpile of mercury tokens and then using the seeds. Plus all in all I did gain my shards back as well so this is more viable than going to the spider anyway you cut it whether it’s a return for 6 or 90. I got the rest of the weekend coming to try for more.

2 RepliesBetter try this before it gets patched tomorrow

I sorted this method out ages ago. I assumed if a dummy like me could figure out this method, that it would be common knowledge at this point. That's what get for assuming. Hopefully your post gets some traction so as to help those who are struggling with masterwork cores.
-
Thanks but I don't want them that bad lol.
-
Since all I'm getting for powerful gear are +1 items I'm not really concerned about cores, since I'm not getting anything worth breaking down for infusion.

2 RepliesThis will get patched. Thx

Thank you!
