With every reveal and interview, D2 looks worse

[b]Since the original reveal we have been told that:[/b] There are no dedicated servers. Special Weapon slots have been removed. 6v6 crucible has been removed. 4v4 crucible, increasing the penalty to solo players. Rumble has been removed (may return later) Power ammo can only be picked up by one player. Ships are still just loading screens. Vaults will still not have any Loadout or Sorting facilities. No separation to balancing PvP and PvE. Machine guns removed. Guided Games not available for Nightfalls and heroic endgame activity. Private games removed on launch. Taken are back. [b]The positives I've seen since the original stream are:[/b] Guided Games - limited. See above The ability to revive a teammate in hard mode raids. Gun specific weapon balancing Did I miss anything?

  • With every reveal Destiny 2 looks better! No machine guns. No ohk stickies. No blink. No power weapon spam!! No more instant ability spam! No more 6v6! Open world with things to do. Actual linear story. In game lore. Treasure maps! Flash points. Adventures. Lost sectors New raid. Guided games Less going to orbit. Better ui Better graphics Interactible NPCs New supers (hoping all 3 elements come back though). ***Now some negs*** No rumble No private matches day 1 K.

      Can I please remind you that the desticles on this forum don't believe in your right to free speech? They are programmed to defend anything destiny related. Probably why the game has become a huge embarrassment. Heck, if bungie see desticles defending their every incorrect move, how are they supposed to know their wrongdoings? Luke Smith as an example. Worst spokesperson any company could ever have. Aaannnnnnddddd they let him speak publicly for Destiny 2.

      • The only real thing that's bumming me out is how they are pushing Lost-sectors to be this brand new thing when we already have VIP patrols, we already have Archon's Forge, and we already have Dreadnaught VIP patrols which to me seem exactly like what Lost Sectors will be. I'm all for more Archon Forges, maybe 1 on each planet, I'm all for getting end-game loot for doing Dreadnaught VIPs because despite them taking a bit of time to complete all you get is a rare engram or two, and I'm all for diving into caves to beat a baddy. But to dress it up and say it's something that's all new seems odd and very PR-move like.

        • It looks like Destiny. Shooting will be good, environment will be beautiful. Sad to see the main plot deviating from the original unwritten lore/story. Gary makes me chuckle a little and I hope they didn't write an overly simplified and predictable plot. I remember the beginning of Destiny, the astronauts, the mystery, space exploration, human race, solar system, planets, universes, unknown alien forces, time travel, discoveries... Is all that gone to fight an 800lbs general who speaks very good English for a Cabal ;)

          • For me it's been more like a tug of war. I was slightly hyped. then heard some things. then slightly disappointed. then heard more. and slightly hyped again. etc. Basically once I saw D2 wasn't a reboot and went for a more polished and refined way of D1 I set my bar REAL low. There is a lot that I think is a good thing bar none for the game. and some things I don't think are good at all. and some things that can be good or bad. Example of nothing but good. Guided games. TBH I wasn't expecting it for hardmode raids. Though if nightfalls fall under "heroic" then i'll be bummed. As nightfalls themselves are not really difficult. especially since they stepped up normal strike game with modifiers. an example of something I don't think is good at all. lack of key competitive features for pvp. this would be dedi servers, 30fps for console, and no ranked play. I know due to their changes to moving the physics engine to their cloud servers is going to help with pvp. but it's still not true dedi servers. Just as 60fps imo is more than possible if they were not trying to push 4k. and were developing with actual up to date tools instead of using the same dated stuff they used with D1. I really don't need to explain ranked and privates not being there on launch as being a big blow to the competitive scene. And a few examples of things i'm skeptical about. the removal of the ttk subclasses. the change to the slots for our weapons. over simplifying the subclasses. patrol in general. Game being similar to D1. "removal of ttk classes." they haven't outright said they were gone. But we think they did because in an interview the beta was said to have ALL six subclasses. I understand why they would be removed though. Like sunbreaker would be seen as too similar to dawnblade. storm caller kind of out performs striker and arc strider in pve and pvp. and night stalker was just over tuned to hell for pve. the main reason it saw use in pvp was for shade step. and not only does the hunter have that for the entire class now. But arc strider fits the mobility bill anyway. That being said bumping us back down to 2 subclasses per class again just feels like a step back anyway you put it. "change to our weapon slots." I get the positives. at least as far as pvp is concerned. pve it means bosses don't need to have a load of health. and we potentially won't need super harsh if any DPS checks. leaving Bungie to make the encounters more mechanically interesting. However. even if special combos exist like noseworthy is talking about it's kind of forcing people to choose a role in pve. Which is something they wanted to shy away from in D1 for raiding. Anyway you spin it though it just seems like another change to address a pvp problem. "over simplifying subclasses." Yeah the illusion of choice is what existed for the most part of D1 for subclass options. and these perk clusters seem like a cool design choice. But if we're forced into all of one or all of the other I feel like a 3rd cluster should have existed. and if we were going to go this route with only 2 I think mixing and matching them should have been possible. The only reason they didn't do this is for. you guessed it. pvp. making things streamlined and removing a lot of variables makes things easier to balance and reduce the random factor. Don't get me wrong. I think they did a fantastic job of making both clusters useful and interesting. It's just the lack of 3rd cluster/mix and match combined with only 6 subclasses at launch just makes it feel....empty. "patrol in general." I love that patrol is getting depth here. Though i'm worried about adventures and lost sectors. I don't want adventures to be glorified fetch quests/becons. And lost sectors unless they scale to your current level/gearscore are going to basically be useless loot wise. Either we can tackle them whenever due to no scaling and thus the rewards don't end up being much. Or we can't approach them till end game. thus removing the seemless feeling of exploring. And there is also the worry of the content in the sector in general. is it just a quick sweep of an area? is it like an actual dungeon? IMO D2 really needs to nail patrol. "being a lot like D1." simple really. We could be stuck with 3 man fire teams still. Both in patrol and strikes. ships still being a collector item only. Loading screens still ripping people out of their inventory. etc. The way I see it is the game being a more polished version of D1 works for pvp. Almost everything done from a pvp perspective is a massive improvement. Which is nice considering how much people liked pvp. On the other hand though its both good and bad for pve. Good in the sense that people can hop right into pve and for the most part feel at home. Bad in the sense that D1's pve really lacked. In content. in depth. in replability. etc. They are taking steps to change this. Giving patrol depth, guided games, tons more effort to story telling, clans having rewards. etc. If scoring/leaderboards exist for strikes at the least and raids at the best pve will have a lot going for it. Still. nothing they've said has really quelled my worry for pve. Sorry for the ramble. It's best to just say I feel whelmed. not over. not under. just whelmed.

            My response to everything in your list: There is no need for dedicated servers. Special Weapon slots have been changed to Energy slots and Special weapons are now in the Power slot. Because, y'know, they have always been power weapons. 6v6 Crucible is gone, but who cares? 4v4 Crucible means more opportunities for true competitive play, but then again... who cares? Rumble still exists. Power ammo can only be picked up by one player [b]until it respawns.[/b] Ships are still just loading screens, so if you wanted a game where you fly ships, go play No Man's Sky or EvE Valkyrie. Vaults will still not have any Loadout or Sorting facilities, but who really cares? There is separation. Many reports state that weapon damage is lower in PvP, so more differences clearly exist. Machine guns have been replaced by submachineguns, which fundamentally work the same besides the obvious damage difference and the fact that they can be both kinetic and energy weapons. Yes, Guided Games will be amazing. You couldn't do it like normal? When the hell did that happen? Oh, and the Taken being back is a no-brainer and should not be a concern. A good way of understanding that is to take a look at forums backlog and check how many nerfs and complaints were made about them... from snipers to shotties.                 • I'm glad I didn't spend £90 on the preorder. Nothing I've seen has excited me. Beta will likely go public like destiny. Will play then. I'll decide then if I'm going to purchase or just wait for a deal edition.

Gun specific weapon balancing Did I miss anything?[/quote] There are some dedicated servers They "added" 4v4 pvp (we do not know the affect this will have on solo players or if this will be better or worse than 6v6) We also dont know if the power ammo thing is good or bad Whats the point of guided games if it doesnt work for nightfalls and other heroic activities? This is the first I have heard about that one.
