I just don't get it. We all know the problems that Destiny has had since launch. We all have seen Bungie mishandle and bungle way too many game decisions.
-Criticism is not bad.
-Holding Bungie to higher standards than other game companies because of their history is not unreasonable.
But at some point there's a line when it stops being about trying to better the game and complaining just to complain.
I was reading Google News and a GI article popped up saying Sparrow Racing announced as a special limited-time December event and I hopped over to the forums expecting to find celebratory posts...
And instead there are people crapping all over it.
Why isn't it Cabal dlc??!!

No one asked for this!!!

rip Destiny!
First of all, Sparrow Racing was probably the first requested add-on when the beta dropped. Beyond that, how many thousands of posts ask for other special events besides IB to participate in?
Last month we had the Festival of the Lost. This month Sparrow Racing. Are they fixing all that still ails the game? No, but they're not making it worse either.
For all the pissing and moaning about lack of content, the fact that people just want to crap on it when they get it just makes you wonder if there's anything that would make them happy.
If you hate the game that much, I'm sorry. But it doesn't mean you have to take your hatred into every post that shows excitement about new content.
Edit: For all the complaints about it being a limited time event, couple things.
1) it is most likely a test run to work out all the kinks.
If it's successful and smooth it could very well become a regular mode.
2) it could be great as a monthly week long event like IB going forward.
I've felt for a long time there should be a weekly event every week alternating PvP/PvE. This could be one such.

Bump.

I don't think it's that bad, it being time gated isn't bad either. I'm thinking of it as a race season, if it pans out they'll continue. There could be races every month or bi-monthly, plus they don't want us to get bored of it. Since its not really a corner stone of the game I'd be fine with it be bi-monthly.

1 ReplyBump. This is still additional content and most of all a refresher. It's something new and exciting. I know some people don't like the idea because they are FPS players and that's what they expect each update to be about. At least this caters towards those who like racing games too, it's the best of both worlds. What more could you ask for? ( this is not a troll invite, just a honest post)

Kind of a dick move, though (well, one of many) for this to be implemented so, so long after it was originally requested in Year One, but requires Year Two content to access it. I dunno, I just feel like it's another scheme to get people back in. Let's face it, Destiny is starting to dwindle and Bungie's recent actions seem to be confirming this. They never gave any kind of hint that they would even consider sparrow racing back when it was one of the most requested additions. But now that the game is slumping and the whole refer system seems to have backfired, it comes across as being less of a happy addition and more of a last ditch attempt. The three week limitation also suggests, to me, that they're using it to try and entice people to upgrade or purchase in order to access it as quickly as possible. Could be nice, but sadly I won't be able to play. I have an overwhelmingly negative view of Bungie now, and with their track record, I don't believe anything they do anymore is simply out of the goodness of their hearts. The fact that they have never once apologised for or even mentioned holding people to ransom, locking out their game or charging them far more depending on where they're from, is something I likely won't forgive at all. I put quite a bit of money into Destiny, didn't get anything for it, and have nothing but a useless disk to show for it.

5 RepliesIntroduce sparrow racing 8-6 month ago when the masses were pining for content = success. Introduce it now as the masses are fleeing = desperate.
-
Sparrow Racing sounds great, anyone who disagrees doesn't have to play it, simple as that.

Edited by DEAN_67__MI: 12/6/2015 2:15:42 AMReally? Sparrow racing? Is that suppose to be the new content coming out? Oh My, how sad
-
Edited by OOODragonessOOO: 12/6/2015 3:46:56 AMpeeps getting all worked up and having "selective hearing" about it with tess everas. claiming "here it is pay to win. now you can spend cash for a sparow better and faster than others" which is entirely false and presumptuous ,bungie stated on twitter and the release video that "that" isnt happening. all sparrows are equal. and are only sold as cosmetic . everyone gets one in a quest for free.
-
2 RepliesIt's because Alot of players would rather real content rather than a multi week event dedicated to micro transactions... and a week of fun if it lasts that long
-
Edited by Quickword-: 12/6/2015 3:44:49 AMThe only problem I see with Sparrow racing is that Vector Infinite Sparrow from Refer-a-Friend being immune to bullets and all. Therefore unable to be interrupted by enemies on the course you see.

If you love this game then marry it. We don't need you bring your positivity in to every forum post. Yes, this looks like a step in the right direction. However, a lot of the flaws this game has have been here since beta. Some raids have bugs, server connection issues, items being lost in transfers, no way to combat cheating these are some of the basic requests to fix the core of the game that have been ignored to try to boost player numbers. A lot of the news and info Bungie puts out smells of greed for money and new players. What you see as a light of hope most see as too little too late.

6 RepliesEdited by Lil Durk: 12/5/2015 10:50:39 PMA lot of people are bitter, Sols. They're giving us content we've been requesting for a year. A year. At this point we're all just like screw Bungie.
-
3 RepliesI want content not sparrow racing. This whole idea is to keep stalling until September until they release destiny 2. The fact that people don't realize that there will be nothing new for months is astonishing.
-
Edited by Gunship: 12/6/2015 2:05:50 AMThe Sparrows were fun to drive in the beta. Their performance has gone down hill ever since. Mostly not much fun anymore. The game randomly slows down driving (or even running) players whenever it feels like it! No consistent performance of any kind whatsoever. Rather than wasting time on a gimick like this, why don't they make the inventory take less than 30 seconds (on a good day) to open while we are in combat! Or bring back the fun weapon perks. Edit: Actually, the video of the sparrow races look like it might be cool, but I won't be holding my breath waiting for the reality to match the advertisement in this game...
-
2 RepliesWe asked for sparrow racing and were getting it. But now half of us are upset about it? The destiny community reminds me of the kid who is mad because his favorite band made it mainstream...
-
Comments on purchasable items?
-
To be fair, who expects to get something A YEAR AND THREE MONTHS after they ask for it? I sure as hell cant wait for it, but I can understand a few reasons why they would get pissed. And for those saying its a cabal DLC, it's likely a Vex first. -The guy with no house.
-
I agree! Sparrow racing was the first thing anyone asked for in the beta.
-
Doesn't count as new content when it is a limited time event that has no announcement of if it will happen more than once.
-
For me its too little too late...might log on and check it out, but between my real life responsiblities and the fact that im enjoying other games.. its doubtful.. either way, i see your point people here are just a bunch of whiney poo flingers.
-
I agree with you Sols, and people here still blinded by hatred towards Bungie sadly..
-
Wasn't this confirmed as being in game in 2013?
-
It has been requested quite a bit. The time gate thing, though. I don't see bungie changing any of their current trends.
-
Didn't I just see "three weeks" what a joke. They're using sales tactics on you and you don't even realise
-
1 ReplyHonestly i think it just might be the difference between yr1 and yr2 not everyone one yr1 was volatile.
-
Because we'd rather them fix raid drops than waste code on this. You have seriously gotten the kool-aid mustache since you got banned a couple of times.
