I just don't get it. We all know the problems that Destiny has had since launch. We all have seen Bungie mishandle and bungle way too many game decisions.
-Criticism is not bad.
-Holding Bungie to higher standards than other game companies because of their history is not unreasonable.
But at some point there's a line when it stops being about trying to better the game and complaining just to complain.
I was reading Google News and a GI article popped up saying Sparrow Racing announced as a special limited-time December event and I hopped over to the forums expecting to find celebratory posts...
And instead there are people crapping all over it.
Why isn't it Cabal dlc??!!

No one asked for this!!!

rip Destiny!
First of all, Sparrow Racing was probably the first requested add-on when the beta dropped. Beyond that, how many thousands of posts ask for other special events besides IB to participate in?
Last month we had the Festival of the Lost. This month Sparrow Racing. Are they fixing all that still ails the game? No, but they're not making it worse either.
For all the pissing and moaning about lack of content, the fact that people just want to crap on it when they get it just makes you wonder if there's anything that would make them happy.
If you hate the game that much, I'm sorry. But it doesn't mean you have to take your hatred into every post that shows excitement about new content.
Edit: For all the complaints about it being a limited time event, couple things.
1) it is most likely a test run to work out all the kinks.
If it's successful and smooth it could very well become a regular mode.
2) it could be great as a monthly week long event like IB going forward.
I've felt for a long time there should be a weekly event every week alternating PvP/PvE. This could be one such.

2 RepliesI thought it was a great idea... then I saw you have to buy the record book to get rewards. Bummer, that's one step forward, two steps back in my opinion.

5 RepliesEdited by Hektik: 12/7/2015 5:38:35 PMSo I keep reading that sparrow racing has been a priority of the community since beta. I've been a part of the community since release and I can safely say I have not seen the fervor for sparrow racing as I have for optional matchmaking, dedicated servers, or private matches. Yes some people may have been asking but based off forum trends since release sparrow racing is a novelty request. A novelty request that I simply do not understand. Why would you want to race in an FPS? Do you play racing games and beg for FPS mini games on feedback forums? Is Destiny such a hybrid that we're going to start begging for a ball sporting league as well? I want to play shooty hoops on the moon... I honestly don't understand this love for sparrow racing. Edit: since we're pushing for mini games that have nothing to do with FPS. Destiny soccor, tower already has kickable balls. Destiny basketball, KF relics can be repurposed. Let's just turn Destiny into Wii Sports.

3 RepliesLost Sols be like:Bungie is amaaazing. Why do people hate them. They're full of rainbows and happiness and sunshine but people are big meanies. I don't like people but i love bungie. #notadesticle "

-blam!- SRL I am tired of their lazy Skinner box designs. When they learn to design a reward system properly without resorting to manipulative tactics then I will stop complaining. Until then I will always call them out on their lazy design Skinner box loving design.

Kinda harsh, but to each their own... I for one see no room for a sporty racing game in a "save the world" game. On lighter note; If the ship Wright has a new shiny helmet that will make me that little bit more kick-ass, then she should just out right give it to me tomorrow for being out there, everyday kicking alien-ass while protecting her-ass in the cozy tower.

166 RepliesLol Sols, confirmed paid by Bungie. Dude. Seriously. I used to like reading your posts. Lately they have been leaning hard, and now this. Remember these? No Optional matchmaking Broken loot system No dedicated servers Nerf EVERY-fcking-THING Old content presented as new after leaving it behind NO FCKING RAID IN HoW AFTER IT WAS ADVERTISED Exotics in TTK STILL timegated TIMEGATED CONTENT Lazy ass mailed in exotic quests Story that was cut to ribbons and reassembled That took me 60 seconds to think of. I could go on but you already know the rest of the list BECAUSE YOU WROTE MOST OF IT. But now some sparrow races are announced (because THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL THE ISSUES ABOVE) and you turn on those who still have priorities. For shame.

11 RepliesTypical Sols , trying to create a name for himself on every single occasion and ending up making the wrong choice :) I assume your brother in arms are not far away :) Great for you to continue wasting your precious time on this shitty game :D

1 ReplyI don't want new goddamn content. I want them to fix the old -blam!-ing content.
-
1 ReplyWait a sec, aren't you one of the fellows that Bungie ninjas kept banning for promoting the #BumpforTruth? and voicing true concerns of the playerbase? Is that why your back in force? Did they replace you with a puppet? I'm confused, what happened?

It's bundle, not bungle! Is zippy there too?

I have the right to crap wherever I please.

17 RepliesIt didn't anger the masses, it angered the forum trolls and the vocal minority.

1 ReplyIt's not that we're mad or even disappointed about their bringing in sparrow racing, even tho there are a lot of major glitches we hoped would be fixed first, and most of us would really rather have more actual map content, the various difficulty levels that used to be on our strikes and missions restored, Raid loot drops fixed, and of course OMM on everything. But, after all, it is something new to do, and has been frequently requested. I do understand the initial "Event" status - is is new, they want to make a big deal of it, and Bungie will probably require time to re-tune as their track record of getting it right the first time is non-existent. I would hope in future it would become part of the daily/weekly rotation. BUT ... what we are mad about is that apparently you can't get the rewards without a $10 log book. And you have to either purchase a sparrow from Tess or do the refer a friend quest. So ... basically, this is yet more paywall locked content. That's the part that truly annoys me.

10 Repliespeople are pissed because bungie has treated players like cash machines and implemented egregious policies. Bungie made the mistake of being pricks and not even saying sorry, they screwed over the players so often and so badly that the game is a ghost town. They took a great idea then shit on everyone who bought in. It is very hard to come back from that in the short to medium term. And remember they knew this when they did it and still pushed forward crapping on players day after day month after month and now year after year. Millions, and millions of dollars worth of goodwill were pissed against the wall to try to force players to comply with their ideas. It has failed.
-
4 Repliesbecause you have to pay $10 for a micro event..... not content. never go full retard.
-
1 ReplyEdited by iDovahBear: 12/6/2015 5:43:46 AMI smell Sparrows on Eververse being pay-to-win... But I don't suppose Bungie will actually give them an advantage. They'll just look cooler.

I would much rather a whole new array of strikes or 10 new missions and story line on Rasputin or the Ahamkara with a raid. Not some bs races that you only get sparrows and a spandex outfit. Waste. I will not be racing shyt.
-
Maybe it's not necessarily the new content people are pissed about. Maybe it's because of all the things Bungie could have done, big and small, to correct the course of this game this is what they choose to spend their time and energy working on. There are things in this game that could be fixed with minimal effort. Things that are already in the game that just require tweaking like matchmaking and better, more consistent rewards. Maybe players aren't pissed about sparrow racing. Maybe they're pissed that Bungie chose sparrow racing over simply fixes like matchmaking and rewards. Maybe sparrow racing would have been met with more enthusiasm if players didn't feel so shafted by this RNG system. Maybe players wouldn't be so pessimistic if this sparrow racing didn't seem like more content that needs to be grinded over and over like Festival of the Lost.

Hahaha Not even gonna touch this one. Had a wall of text and everything but.. -blam!- that. This game isn't worth stressing over. I think a lot of people could stand to learn that. Personally don't have an opinion on racing. Don't really care. Wish I had something else to shoot at, though. That would have been cool. Really hope this and the weapon update wasn't enough to inundate the entire company and we get something in the ways of game advancement soon.
-
This is one time I'm completely against you. How many things could've been fixed while they instead created and designed sparrow racing?? Am I going to try it out? Yeah. Would I have rather had the game fixed? -blam!-ing right I would've, and I'm sure there's a good number who feel the same.
-
People aren't mad about new content. People are mad that they're essentially attempting to cover up flaws in the game with an event. Error codes? Pvp balancing? Raid loot? Nope, we'll put in sparrow racing with microtransactions.
-
3 RepliesNew content? Sparrow racing is not new content it's new filler. To stall cause destiny 2 has there entire staff occupied. So much so that this is the best they could come up with to hold thier players over till next fall.

I think some like myself just feel this is a little too late.
