Only on the Destiny forums could new content anger the masses.
I just don't get it. We all know the problems that Destiny has had since launch. We all have seen Bungie mishandle and bungle way too many game decisions.
-Criticism is not bad.
-Holding Bungie to higher standards than other game companies because of their history is not unreasonable.
But at some point there's a line when it stops being about trying to better the game and complaining just to complain.
I was reading Google News and a GI article popped up saying Sparrow Racing announced as a special limited-time December event and I hopped over to the forums expecting to find celebratory posts...
And instead there are people crapping all over it.

First of all, Sparrow Racing was probably the first requested add-on when the beta dropped. Beyond that, how many thousands of posts ask for other special events besides IB to participate in?
Last month we had the Festival of the Lost. This month Sparrow Racing. Are they fixing all that still ails the game? No, but they're not making it worse either.
For all the pissing and moaning about lack of content, the fact that people just want to crap on it when they get it just makes you wonder if there's anything that would make them happy.
If you hate the game that much, I'm sorry. But it doesn't mean you have to take your hatred into every post that shows excitement about new content.
Edit: For all the complaints about it being a limited time event, couple things.
1) it is most likely a test run to work out all the kinks.
If it's successful and smooth it could very well become a regular mode.
2) it could be great as a monthly week long event like IB going forward.
I've felt for a long time there should be a weekly event every week alternating PvP/PvE. This could be one such.

It's not jus destiny, I've been on plenty of forums and pretty much gathered that gamers as a whole will bitch about anything they can, being that majority of gamers are relatively young. Lol of course there will be bitching, the entire community is comprised of children and adults who don't know how to act like adults. Lots of estrogen in this community for sure though. Lol I remember when I was a defiant 6 year old child.

Then you get people who constantly do posts with the same YouTube video about bungie cutting up the game and yet they continue to support the product. I am not 100% happy with the game I got but overall for the money I have spent vs time played and fun I have had. I would say It has been well worth it.

I have never gone on [i]any other games forums[/i] EVER to complain about a business practice. Sure, I've left a few bad reviews on Google, but this is how awful Bungie has handled this game. I'm not complaining [i]just[/i] to complain. I'm complaining because this business practice is [i]that[/i] disgusting. Bungie's an angry farmer. They're milking their fan base hard, and them utters are shriveled up and about to fall off. I'm complaining to save the cows. WHO'S WITH ME?!

Here's the thing, they did cut content, and all of us from year one got lied to. Remember they told us not to dismantle our year one guns. yet they were quickly made obsolete for arbitrary reasons. Then they removed the Radiant Light buff and rep rewards from both heroic and night fall, removed the nine strange coin reward from heroic, removed reforge, removed any reason to do the old raids, then had IB suck by making the gear the same level as the vendors. anyone else remember old IB where you could buy the gear and it would be raid level? you could reach light level 30 by wearing IB armor because I do. This whole thing of grinding for better light gear is a joke. It is an artificial way to extend game play, and so many players will not stand for it. the whole refer a friend was desperation on their part to get more players and money. so many people have abandoned this game and for good reason. Sparrow racing while it might be fun, it is naught but a band-aid on a bullet hole. and there are thirty or so bullet holes. FYI VoG is still glitchy, as is Crotas End. and eververse is selling the only means of recording your W/L? really? And she is selling parts? WTF? I dont hate destiny, far from it, I want it to be better than it is. to me it feels like the Bungie crew lost something, I can't really put it in to words very well, but It just feels like their passion wasn't this game. It feels as though they became someone else. Instead of getting a game that made a difference, we got one that disappointed and left people starving for content. What saddens me the most of all, is blindness. People blinding themselves to the truth, Simply because Bungie exists. If this game is to truly become great, all of us have to call BS, when it happens. But that won't happen, because of the blind fan boy who just can't accept that bungie, made a game that was too big. A ten year plan that only after two is losing so many, because of the way bungie is handling things. I'm calling it now next dlc is going to cost $40. if I am wrong I will write an apology. If I am right then I get to say I called it.

Yeah I really am getting sick to death of this community! I think variety is good. I don't always want to shoot aliens in the face. And I do like racing. Don't get why it's limited though. Can't help but think there wouldn't be enough players in the other match making game types :D why would they need to do a test run exactly? And 3 weeks seems like a long test time. But regardless, curious to try it out! Sparrows to feel amazing so I think the racing has great potential. Can't wait to see what dumb grinding decisions have been made to ruin it though :P

4 RepliesFrankly if someone is just going to live is the past mentality of "should have been in the original game". They get no credibility from me. Honestly we are pretty spoiled as players to be getting such a quick turnaround on something we asked for. Sparrow racing has been talked about from day 1 but people don't realize the effort of the project to make it a reality. Most other titles we would get Game 1 then give feedback, then game 2 would fix a lot of game 1s problems, game 3 adds to that and so on. With destiny changes happen much faster. Nobody is very appreciative.

So if you read the update they just put out explaining the record book more you'll notice there's a nice little line they put in that implies something interesting [quote]Commemorate your SRL stats after the event is over[/quote] Why would I need to commemorate my stats if the event is coming back? Probably because it's not. Actually the word commemorate already implies death. To recall, serve as a memorial, remember, honor, etc. I may have my spinfoil hat on but it could say a lot about the future of sparrow racing
