Year 1 Gear Can't be Used in TTK.....

Actually I look forward to it. I'm so tired of fatebringer. It's great, but it's played out. And honestly Ghorn is getting stale as well. How's about that new rocket launcher with that white and red shroud looking badass??!

EDIT: We have a winner. Not that there was a contest. For everyone who doesn't know 365 is the max damage for year one weapons.
EDIT: What's with all the reporting? I have assisted in making this forum interesting and entertaining. No wonder Bungie's takes heat constantly. Bunch of angry people up in here.
FINAL EDIT: Update 5/19 hotfix specifies that etheric light will upgrade any legendary to year 1 max. Which means that TTK will have a higher max that current weapons will not reach. Therefore....haters goodbye!

The gear would be nice to ascend but to me the legendary weapons for the most part are renamed and reskinned...example not much difference in stats between auto rifles like the pest matrix , shadow price , vanquisher , and the queens variant i got a couple of days ago...just different perks that can be rerolled anyway

When they decide to bring these weapons back I'll have my fate and you will have shit. I don't remember them ever saying exotics won't be ascended . they are just compensating for lack of creativity and vault space. That's the facts. No link required.

They showed a cape with the Ascension icon on it at E3. So gear will likely ascend. Weapons I am not so sure about

You can still use year one stuff. I believe the damage will just stay at 365. But they could always change that.

Might work like this. Game, dlc, dlc with ascend and reforge. Expansion, dlc, dlc with ascend and reforge. Aaaaand repeat. Gear will follow if you really want to hold onto it. But the last dlc of each season would be a good place to upgrade gear. This is all wishful thinking, of course. I have no idea how this will really work. But if Bungie did this, they would keep new weapons relevant AND allow a few personal favorites to follow players throughout Destiny's life.

Exotics will be upgraded to new Max damage it wouldn't make sense if it didn't. As for legendary and raid weapons it's anyone's guess but I would love to see weapons that top VOG.

For all the people saying yeah why deal with the same weapons let's look at it this way. I made the analogy in response but I doubt its been read. You get a car and it goes zero to sixty in 2.0 seconds and gets 50mpg. Years later the company offers you a shiny new car that goes from zero to sixty in 6.0 seconds and gets 20 mpg. Which one do you want?

2 RepliesI don't care so much about weapons if they have new ones that are better then we won't even remember what we used to love. What concerns me most is the gear. Finally we have a good upgrading system with HoW where each guardian looks different and yet we all can hit the max light level. Why would we start fresh again just for all us to look the same with the new raid gear making everything year one obsolete? Gear is gear at the end of the day as long as it gets you to the max light level then its served its purpose. I hope Bungie doesn't make everything two dimensional again like they did in Tdb. In fact im not going to buy ttk until I see some confirmation I can ascend my gear. If you want me to start fresh again Destiny I may as well buy a new game as thats pretty much what I will doing with the taken king. Quit messing with the upgrading! You finally hit the nail on the head with HoW just to take another step back in ttk? Get your shit together Bungie dont make the same mistake twice
