You guys understand pvp. Does it need a nerf? Below 2.0 opinions will be discarded.
edit: please explain your opinion one way or the other. "Yes" is not an effective answer and will not sway any opinions.
Edit 2: I don't have a 2.0. That is why I'm asking for the opinions of my superiors. I'm asking better players with good reason. These guys understand traffic routes, map control, and are always landing headshots. They simply understand the game on a higher level than 98% of the player base and therefore I give their opinion more weight. I'm tired of seeing "NERF THORN" posts coming from some child with a 0.4. That kid can barely play the game, he knows nothing of it.
Edit 3: Here's my opinion, which should be discarded: if thorn gets nerfed tlw will be op. If tlw gets nerfed red death will be op. If red death gets nerfed someone might take a legendary primary into the crucible and exotics won't be exotics.

Yes rate of fire should be slowed.

I have almost a million in medal score. I would like Thorn to have last round removed. No need for that with DoT. In my opinion. Disclaimer I will use Thorn if its called for.
-
I'm below 2.0 and don't think a nerf is needed it's all about the style of play I've outshot plenty of thorns and went flawless each weekend trials went on.
-
In my humble opinion, the range needs reduced, damage is fine, but it is way way to easy to head shot a player long range.

1 ReplyNo. You can beat a thorn.

Edited by Seraph Kupo: 6/8/2015 12:56:40 AMYes. If it shoots from b to c on shores of time and out snipes snipers and scouts then it's bullshit at the same damage rate. That's what scouts and snipers are for.

Edited by FunkTheWorld: 6/8/2015 1:06:57 AMI say yes. It needs a rate of fire nerf imo and maybe even a slight clip size reduction. It's kind of a tricky weapon to balance because of the DoT. Kinda funny that the buff was meant to make it viable in PvE but instead made it OP in crucible. I've not seen a single person that uses Thorn in PvE. Also, k/d doesn't make anyone's opinion any more valuable than anyone else's imo. I sit between 2.0-3.0 in every game mode and I don't think it makes a difference. Especially when the general consensus is the weapon is overpowered.

I say remove/replace the perfect balance trait or whatever and it will be okay. Least start there and see if it needs to be fixed a little more

Ahh I see you haven't been to the lighthouse. My below 2.0 kd has been 4 times. Have fun with that fancy number!

No lol. - A Last Word User
-
You agreed to my opinion, if you like it then get it out there and spread it around. I'd love the old, skillful Thorn back.

2 RepliesI'm not over 2 but I know that TLW is OP as well

Edited by I Am The Guitar: 6/8/2015 12:49:52 AMThorn needs to be re adjusted. I don't like the word nerf because that would imply a huge decrease in something. I think the poison effect should be looked at again. I feel that if the Thorn user dies the DoT should be river from affected players.

Edited by BasilGoldsack NZ: 6/8/2015 12:47:18 AMHonestly? No. I don't find Thorn any more dangerous than a well-aimed Hawkmoon, Red Death, or Last Word. Hell, I'm a mid-long range fighter primarily, so I prefer them using Thorn, because it means they're not trying to get up in my face with a Last Word. It means I can snipe them easily at long range, or 2-burst them with Red Death and have the heal save me from the poison if they got a 2-shot to my face. And let's not forget that a well aimed and slightly lucky Hawkmoon will kill you in 2 shots, with no chance of recovery. Unlike Thorn poison, which can be cancelled with a myriad of abilities. So no, I don't think the Thorn needs a nerf. EDIT: and of course, the Thorn is garbage in close range against The Last Word and any shotgun. If you're getting killed at close range while trying to rush a Thorn user, you're playing wrong.

Thorn needs balancing. Needs adjustment to impact and DOT should not be guaranteed but a chance.
