Trials Literally Destroyed Destiny

The damage Trials has done to the game is severe. The social implications of making arguably the best pve weapons only obtainable from going 9 - 0 in a pvp game type are already destroying the game. Most people I play with have had clans split apart. This is due to the max players in an activity being three. You would think the other three would then make a group but the best players are only playing with the best and the ones who are lower skilled end up doing nothing with anyone. The result is people are not playing with others solely based on skill in the game. These lower skilled people will not progress and as a result leave the game. Trials combines the worst aspects of fps into one failed and broken game type. In Trials lower skilled players cannot even get a team to attempt the content. Period. When they do it is a massacre so they quit and the better players avoid them. Half my friends list alternates between visible and invisible in an attempt to AVOID PEOPLE. I am not talking about me but others. They do not want to tell others no to playing with them so hiding seems to be the preferred option. Destiny went from a fun and relaxed game to this? Half the time the only reason I know someone is on because they invite me to a party. Why you invis? To avoid this dude.... The flawless requirement literally destroys Trials. One win and you are out which is tedious and boring. It also brings out the worst in people. Friends are fighting and getting angry. Deleting people from friends list and blocking. Already today three people logged off upset. Two people yelled at each other. NO ONE IS HAVING FUN. AT ALL. Now take all I said above and add the very common and pervasive cheating going on in Trials. Ddos attacks, lag switches, aim bots, and other crap that further ruin the player experience. So you go 8 - 0 only to lose because the other team booted one of your team mates or lags so bad it takes an entire team to kill them. It is a miserable experience. In the final analysis none of this is fun. Even poe is not fun because I cannot do 34 and 35 with a lot of my friends. I cannot justify purchasing another product from a company that releases content this bad. If the requirements to get Lighthouse were reasonable I would keep at it but they are not. The content alienates people. I don't mind grinding or hard content. What I do not like is content that destroys your friends list, splits people apart, and ruins what in many ways was a social game. Bungie better take notice and deal with this. Everyone changes games. This is the first time since playing this game from release that I can honestly say the MAJORITY OF MY FRIENDS ARE NOT HAVING FUN. EDIT: I agree with what a lot of people are saying on both sides. I believe many would not have purchased this game if content was like Trials. The social issues are real whether ones wants to admit them or not. In the end, Destiny is just a game. Lol. Just play something else and frankly I have lost most, if not all, of my faith in Bungie. Even Iron Banner was doable for everyone given a long timeline. If you really want that item grind it out. Sure others may get it in a shorter or longer time frame but you could play with anyone and still progress. It was fine. EDIT 2: Some idiots are comparing Trials to mlg. MLG not part of the core game nor does it have rewards in game. It is seperate from the game. EDIT 3: If you are to stupid to NOT finish reading the orginal post don't bother to comment. The dudes who write "I stopped reading at....." are to stupid to finish reading a paragraph and should not comment. Lol. Also, based on the people I know in game Trials has definately not breathed life into Destiny. Instead it is ruining it. I have never witnessed this much disdain and overall negatively towards a dlc. The premise behind Trials is flawed and only appeals to a minority of the player base at the expense of the majority. People did not buy the dlc to never have access to the Lighthouse and rewards. EDIT 4: If you love pvp odds are you will try the new Halo. Most, if not all, the hard core pvp players I know in Destiny have every intention of playing Halo. Destiny has some major issues with pvp regarding weapon balance, class balance, and map design. When 90% of the players use hand cannons and 2% use assualt rifles (an entire class of wespons) you have no balance. Destiny also does not have leader boards and a viable skill measuring system in game. All hardcover pvp players want is recognition and a place to compete. The introduction of private matches and visible in game leader boards would have worked 10 times better than Trials. If I were a betting man I believe Halo will result in a mass exodus of pvpers from Destiny who will not come back. The supers and other issues are major problems for Destiny pvp. Destiny's niche was mmo style pve or the pvers... but Trials has caused major issues with this relationship and frankly people I know who were Destiny fanatics have started looking for other games. Trials is poison and is catering to a portion of the player base that will likely leave the game anyway. The sad thing is all Bungie had to do was make more reasonable methods to obtain lighthouse. 18 wins no matter how many lost games. Point totals that stay with your character over multiple passages that eventually give access like rep. IB was implemented well because given time anyone could succeed. Granted the better players got rewards faster but everyone given time could succeed. This is all interesting. EDIT 5: Playing against cheaters is unavoidable in fps and you must learn to both accept and deal with it. The issue with Trials is that flawless is so unforgiving it compounds the impact. One lost game due to cheating (not accounting for boons) and you start over. It is the fact flawless is so ridiculous.

      • The best PvE weapons in the game are, fatebringer, black hammer, found verdict, ice breaker and gjallarhorn. All can be received from raids.

      • Genuinely, just find a group of friends that you can play well with, but can also just chill and joke around with, and you will love Trials. The adrenaline rush I got when I first went 9-0 was the best experience I've ever had playing this game. Yes, there is sweaties and cheaters, but you just need to buckle down with it and be thick skinned. Trials is all about Patience, and it when you have a chill group, you don't even care. So I advise that you make better friends and experience the best piece of Content since VoG.

      • Awwww....guys lets hand this cute little nerd all the best stuff just for trying....here's a participation medal little Jimmy! I go to the Hpuse 2-3 times a week. Instead of practicing your game and getting better, you bitch about trials and hope that they I'll establish a poop tier for you to compete with other poops and "earn" the same shot that better players earn. I'm short, git gud. And look up "literally" in the dictionary little light.

        • I have some sympathy for you and your issues. Friends should never be at each others' throats over video game baubles. Some tips: -Practice with your best mates until you're covering each others' backs without thinking in the available 3v3 modes -Level gear suited for Trials: fast revives, perks to net you extra super/grenade energy, survivability bonuses (bones of Eao w/better control, RAM, etc.) -Calm down and accept responsibility after a loss. The more you try to absolve yourself of any responsibility, the more time you spend feeling sorry for yourself, and the further away the lighthouse seems -Understand common strategies and counters for maps/subclasses. -Understand that you have as many chances as your resource pool will allow you. Encountering cheaters is unfortunate, but rare. Losing is unfortunate, but only a lack of willpower keeps people away from true victory Destiny is a strange game of chess and nowhere else is this as evident as in Trials of Osiris. Even a team of fairly average PvPers can come out on top against a team of individually skilled players if their team tactics, positioning, communication, and general strategy are on point. I've lost a few games to people (I'd like to think I should have beaten) this way. Quit feeling sorry for yourselves, and go get those elemental primaries.

        • PoE hurt clans in a similar fashion. Since Skolas requires coordination not present exactly in any other form of content, the people who were used to drinking beer while shooting anything at Crota were barred by stronger players unintentionally. HoW needed a Raid. Three player pvp was around before Trials so strong trios were already developed by then. I'm not exactly disagreeing with you. I enjoyed HoW but it was a segregating piece of content. If you are seeking poor reactions to dlc worse than Destiny, I suggest googling The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Horse Armor and Street Fighter x Tekken.

        • Ive tried it 4 times and been flawless twice. Im the kinda guy who can only stand pvp for about an hour or so. Trials however, while very stressful, was really fun. Everyone had their games and we came through in the end first run. I think you just gotta relax, if you lose nothing happens, just try again...

I'm not gonna lie my team, and I do destroy in trials. At least once per week. But is also the only thing that keeps me coming back, at least for now.

        • completely agree every crucible venue now is trials also. You notice that. I have been there and done that not on this account this one is a new account but on my other have done the flawless thing plenty and still have the good sense to realize it has really hurt the game over all. I think they believe the pvp focus keeps the game going but that tells me they are really lacking in content.

            • My only issue with ToO is that I haven't been to the light house. I like to beat everything the game has to offer. It has nothing to do with the weapons or gear. I just feel like I have some unfinished business but I lack the skill and teammates to do it.

              • Tl;dr The problem seems to be with the clans/members. If they were worth a crap then helping mates would come before all else.

                • Question is, what year 2 weapons will drop in lighthouse loot table? New trials weapons will hopefully be there day one. To me trials is so much fun because it's a challenge.

                • I would have to agree. I have gotten to the lighthouse at least 3 times on all of my characters, so I guess I would be in that minority you speak of, but even with being able to get there the effect on the people I played with was horrible. I had friends who I loved to play with and have a good time suddenly get extremely anal and spout spouting crap like "If someone makes me lose a trials match i'm unfriending them." This game mode brings out the worst in people. Those same friends finish their flawless for the week... then go back to playing trials SOLELY for the purpose of screwing other people out of flawless or ending their trials run. This kind of shit disgusts me.

                • I never even attempted trials for the reasons you stated. I'm not very good at pvp but have done Iron Banner. It can be fun but most times aggravating. I did it for the loot. As for trials, there is no way I'll get 9-0. Even with 2 of my best pvp players from my clan. I'll just drag them down and they'll get pissed. I hope they do change it in some way in the future so players like me can grind it out. I don't care if it takes me longer than others just as long as I reach the finish line.

                  • Im not the greatest at pvp and even ive gone flawless like 4/5 times. Honestly bcause i didnt try very hard to participate every week. But meh Before it was all PVE and top raiders and no one complained. Pvp is a different type of animal. I for one am glad there was a hardcore mode. It seperated the carry from the good team and made some people really stand out. I didnt kill destiny. Many came back just for it
