So, my team and I have been fighting Skolas for the past... what? Three hours? And this is just absurd. There seems to be no way to kill him without 365 Gjallarhorns, and popping heavy ammo synths after every failure.
The boss will one-shot you. The hordes of captains will one-shot you. Failure results in having to wait ~8 minutes, because heavy ammo synths must be popped. The only viable way to kill him is to use a single weapon, that not every player has access to.
Before anybody says it, yes, we are running all G-horns, a Defender Titan, two 34s and one 33. This boss is terribly designed. There are way too many enemies, and way too much damage being thrown at the player, for the player to be saddled with Skolas' curse AND disarming mines.
Is anybody else having these issues with Skolas? Any other strategies for defeating him?
Edit: Does anybody know if the Adds stop respawning? As in if we kill them enough, will they stop coming?
Edit 2: Well, we got our Titan to 34, and what a difference! We wasted him on our first try on Monday within a minute. But know it's Arc Burn so... woo.

2 RepliesIt so easy skolas is the easiest part of the 35 PoE. We beat him first try and very fast

Here's a tissue.

Beat Skolas on all 3 characters =) But no drops =(
-
Man I just gave up after 3 hours. We had 2 hunters with max gjallarhorns and a warlock that hid in a corner drawing skolas' attention. Me and the others hunter would try to go out and kill the servitor then get as many rockets on skolas as possible. Then when he started poisoning us we tried running around and passing the poison around. We never made it to the mines. The captains and skolas 1 shorting you are so beyond ridiculous. I accepted defeat because I don't know how to beat it.
-
It's soooo easy! Me and 2 other 34's beat skolas in only 3 wipes 1: have Titan with weapons of light bubble 2: synth(full), wait for second synth 3: go and shoot 14 365 gjallahorn's each and he should be dead by then
-
My biggest complaint is the heavy cool down. Spent 5 minutes actually fighting Skolas and 40 minutes waiting on cool downs. It should reset after a wipe.
-
Lol 3 gjallarhorns and WoL makes for a 30 second run. You're probably not: 1. Killing the servitors 2. Using WoL 3. Going to the right part of the map 4. Being better

https://youtu.be/RRYllwqrYqM Shows what to do exactly. (With 3 gallys)

I beat him yesterday. I went into PoE 35 w/ 365 Gally, Vision, Fang and Murmur and I was level 34. My team was all Warlocks. I don't really know how long it took us to finally kill him but I know we had to pop Self Rez A LOT. We had to keep making a circle around the map while that whole Tainted light thing was going on in order to play keep away from the enemies. Then with that whole mine defusing thing... Oh man, I'm still amazed that we were able to do it. But you'll find out that at lvl 34 w/ max Vision and Solar Burn, taking the ads out isn't THAT bad. I ran it again later on in the night w/ another team. We had a Warlock (me), a bubble Titan and a hunter. We were trying to do the whole kill him fast w/ Gally and Weapons of Light thing on after we took out the servitor on the left side of the map but we just couldn't get it done. We eventually just gave up cuz it wasn't worth the time. Thankfully for me, I was able to get the Wolves Leash (High ROF Scout rifle WITH Stability) by turning in the weapon and armor cores for a Judgement's Chance, so I really dont have any other reason to play PoE anymore since thats really the only thing I wanted to get after I had reached 34 and maxed out my elemental Scout rifles.

7 RepliesEdited by QcGzeno: 5/24/2015 10:09:28 PMFunny thing, they are gonna buff its health by 45%. Proof below in the comments. RIP next week.

I know, right? It took my team 4 hours to beat Skolas alone. I didn't even get all the rewards, since I didn't have a damn treasure key... At the very least, they should get rid of the splinter mines. They should also add a Treasure Key to the weekly rewards fro Skolas, so you can get the shader, ship, and emblem.

I did it legit, no nuking. We had gally but it's definitely not required if you do it legit, only if you nuke right away.

GET GUD!!!
Just busting your balls lol
1 ReplyYour face is absurd. Grow a pair of ding dong and kill that bitch without crying on a forum. If not, go kill level 6 mobs in patrol and tell yourself that you enjoy your time.

As of Now, the only way to kill him is to g-horn the living crap out of him. But I'm sure there will be other strats that'll make their way into the screen soon. IMO he is designed perfectly. Teamwork and good coordination is vital along with great player skill.

3 RepliesBeat him in 45 seconds with only 1 member using gally. If you don't have the proper weapons you should try to get them before beating the current end game content.

1 ReplyIn response to your edit: no. Most bosses in the game are on a health threshold spawning system(I.e. Adds spawn every ~10-15% of their health, but never in between). Skolas, however, does not follow this pattern, so to the best of my knowledge they spawn infinitely. Unfortunately that's about all I know in the way of the adds spawning, maybe there's a timer on it or something but I don't know exactly what it is yet. In response to your original post: I do agree that some of the mechanics for Skolas are pretty silly and even a tad bit unfair at times, but that by no means makes it impossible. The 3 Gjallarhorn strategy is just the most visible one right now, but there are loads of others. In particular, my team would basically just survive until we found a good opening where we were all safe for a bit and then we would unload on him before the adds got to us and then keep moving afterwards. The run where we killed him took ~15 minutes, but it could have been done a lot faster if we were more coordinated. (As a side note, we had 2 sunsunger warlocks and an blade dancer hunter; 1 Gjallarhorn, 1 mythoclast, and 2 black hammers combined between the 3 of us, so it's definitely possible without the heavy ammo synth spamming Gjallarhorn cheese that you see everywhere) Anyway, hope that helps OP. If you need any more help feel free to ask

Nooooooo she wasn't ready

3 RepliesGet that one other guy to 34 so it isn't 40% reduced damage

4 RepliesTwo and a half hours in last night, my team and I were fighting the final boss. We got him down to no health and I meleed him for the win. Then we didn't get to the mines in time an wiped. Then my wife came in and shut off my Xbox. Aka FML

2 RepliesUse nKuch's tactic. My team struggled till we used his tactic. Worked like a charm

Edited by BroodJupiter46: 5/24/2015 8:51:34 PMok - here is some info we got - 3 34 2 titans 1 warlock. We beat him with out putting 42 Ghorns into him at the start. After the ghost servertor is killed u get 19 sec to hammer him we got him to 50% then the disable mines popped up - along with the mines we got a ( green glow like the thorn) this green glow last 28 sec and has to be passed to each other - u need to pass the green glow around 5 sec left that's what worked best for my fire team - once passed the person that was infected is now immune for 40 sec ( MY TIME HERE MIGHT BE INCORRECT) we found that getting the green glow to the warlock last worked best for the fire team b/c if the warlock died he would self res. After the first set of mines are completed the Boss will now take full DMG. and the( Green glow starts again) & another set of mines. hope this helps - took us 9hours 42 min to figure this out.

4 RepliesMy team only had 1 Ghorn, and we managed to pull it off. Make sure you don't stay in the same place for too long
