So, my team and I have been fighting Skolas for the past... what? Three hours? And this is just absurd. There seems to be no way to kill him without 365 Gjallarhorns, and popping heavy ammo synths after every failure.
The boss will one-shot you. The hordes of captains will one-shot you. Failure results in having to wait ~8 minutes, because heavy ammo synths must be popped. The only viable way to kill him is to use a single weapon, that not every player has access to.
Before anybody says it, yes, we are running all G-horns, a Defender Titan, two 34s and one 33. This boss is terribly designed. There are way too many enemies, and way too much damage being thrown at the player, for the player to be saddled with Skolas' curse AND disarming mines.
Is anybody else having these issues with Skolas? Any other strategies for defeating him?
Edit: Does anybody know if the Adds stop respawning? As in if we kill them enough, will they stop coming?
Edit 2: Well, we got our Titan to 34, and what a difference! We wasted him on our first try on Monday within a minute. But know it's Arc Burn so... woo.

took us 3 hours but got the bounty so totally worth it

1 ReplySo I wonder what the queen is going to do with Skolas ;) *wink* *wink*
-
3 RepliesNo killed him in under a minute twice. You have to be a little separated when you're killing him, if you're all bunched up together he's going to just teleport to you guys.

1 Reply*repositions monocle* "I say, absolutely absurd"
-
1 ReplyWait until next week when solar burn is off, that fight will be crazy stupid
-
No more ghorn buddy. Glad I got the ship because I won't even waste my time on 35 right now.
-
1 ReplyThey fixed it it's arc burn this time so no more gally plan
-
What I want to know, after facing this guy,is where I can get one of those Galla-Scorch cannons.
-
1 ReplyStopped reading when I saw 33

I ran it with a couple off LFG. We had one guy shoot a couple Hungers then stun lock Skolas with his BlackHammer and the other two rock him with max Gallys the entire time. If no Gallys you should rotate around the edges as a group and damage Skolas whenever possible while clearing adds as needed. Definitely a difficult encounter, but it can be done.
-
Just run left immediately. You don't need the titan, although having a 33 might make that needed... it's solar burn this week, but it won't always be. Tomorrow who knows? Maybe specialist and black hammer will reign supreme

I don't see why people are complaining, a challenging fight sounds fun

2 RepliesHas anyone hit skolas with golden gun and the celestial nighthawk helm? I'm curious to know how much dps it does.

Just beat him again first try
-
There is a finite number of adds we ended up having bubble Titan and self res warlock camping the to left area so would make sure warlock would grab the poison and die and self res to wipe it and then use radiance to generate orbs for another bubble and bubble Titan defending and distracting adds and make orbs for the warlock (have the heavy weapon kills create orbs perk on and you will be fine . With myself as a blade dancer with a full invis build sprinting around the map capping the mines and then getting back to pass on poison if required. took plenty of wipes but just have to be patient it's nice to do the big damage at the start but just don't get greedy and killed right at the start
-
My team beat him easily with two of us using icebreaker and one using dragon's breath. Anyone who thinks you need any specific weapon in this game to do anything is hilariously bad at the game and should git gud.

Weapons of light and black hammer

28 RepliesEdited by Frank the Shank: 5/24/2015 8:52:07 PMStep 1 Pop heavy synthesis Step 2 Wait till it's cooled down to have access to it right away. And so titan has super ready. Step 3 Enter arena and head left to kill first servitor and kill it. Step 4 Once bonds are broken, whole team lights him up. If done correctly then his health should be at half. ( meaning no more servitors need to be destroyed to damage him.) Step 5 Have your defender pop the bubble at the top of the ramp leading to the first servitor spawn, enter and pop your pre cooled heavy in complete protection. Step 6 Once refueled on heavy immediately fire upon him and if done correctly and coordinated properly he will be destroyed. Step 7 Dismantle mines in peace and go collect your reward.

You think you've got it bad try it on last gen :-(

3 RepliesWe had the same set up as you. After so many fails and close calls we finally beat it in under 50 seconds. Strategy: in airlock pop initial synth, wait about 4:30 then run out side by side (anyone behind will most likely die). Then run straight to the left and drop the ghost servitor asap, as soon as the titan gets to the left pop a bubble. Begin the assault on Skolas, once you drain all ghorn shots get in bubble and pop synth. Again unleash hell on Skolas, should kill him if not finish up with whatever solar weapons you have. Make sure you have the fast reload perk on ghorn* Timing is everything as you've probably learned by now, hope this somewhat helps.

That is exactly what me and my team were doing, but instead you want to be using a black hammer until he's about half health, then nail him with ghorn. Works wonders.
-
1 ReplyForget about the mines...... If you haven't done enough damage to almost kill Skolas, by the time the mines start appearing, wipe..... It's about putting as much damage on him ASAP. (Have someone stun-lock him with an Icebreaker or Black Hammer).
-
2 RepliesYup no Ghorn just sell the game no way to beat him pretty much
-
First, skolas will only one shot you as a 33. I would know because I spent 5 hours wiping on him with three 33s with three 365 gjallys. Two warlocks and a hunter. We probably could've downed him if one of us was a titan because of the huge advantage of having a genuinely safe area. Second, you have two 34s. You should have plenty of firepower. Solar burn is on so equip vision and black hammer. Third, always play it safe.

11 RepliesALSO make sure no one in your fireteam leaves to get heavy ammo synthesis only to get locked out and leaving both of you to face skolas. Yup ......big mistake. Just happened and we had to quit. It's bull poop that there's no checkpoint. So looks like we'll be doing the whole thing all over again. When we cool off the anger of course
-
1 ReplyIt took me and hour to beat him because of having to wait for the synth to be ready but when it works it works and feels great
