Destiny is a Pay to Win Game
Prove me wrong. Protip: you can't.
If you don't buy the DLC, then you can't upgrade your character to the highest level. Fail.

This "item mall" carries various items to boost stats, pets or companions of high rarity that you could buy at low levels that higher levels that don't use the item mall have to farm for hours to obtaine. It would also include mounts, vanity items, and exp and skill boosters so that you can hit the max level on everything with out the thrill of the game. Examples: Star Wars the Old Republic, D&D online, Perfect World, Never Winter, and most recently Elder Scrolls Online. Thats 5 "Massive" online multiplayers no where in comparison with Destiny. Before you start shouting a game is Pay to Win maybe you should learn what that means you twit.

No destiny is not a pay to win game. Otherwise ppl without the dlc, wouldnt be 32 by now. And when house of wolf launches, every non dlc owner will reach next light level. So how is this a pay to win game?

Unless you're talking about some kind of exotic material that you buy in a dlc for five dollars each. Then no is not pay to win. HoW expansion no matter how disappointed we are with it. Is not pay to win in my opinion.

You can get etheric light from nightfalls. That can be used to upgrade weapons and armor to the max. You don't need the DLC for that. How is it unfair? We get more content than the other players but that doesn't make things uneven when everyone has the opportunity to be the same level.

You can ascend your gear without purchasing HoW, they said so in the reveal event. Etheric Light will be a possible reward from the Nightfall and Iron Banner. However, it is also a reward from Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris, so if you purchase HoW you have more opportunities to get the material needed. But honestly, if you are still playing at this point and worrying about ascending your gear, why would you not get HoW?

They already said that users who don't purchase the DLC will be able to obtain Etheric Light to ascend their gear (but have only one way to get it; the Nightfall). It's just $20.
