Taken from weekly update:
"Further improve the balance of encounters by limiting high-damage weapons"
This statement perhaps refers to primary weapons. So what primary weapons are high damage(high dps) weapons?
Most primaries have a TTK(time to kill) of around .8-1.1 seconds. Several weapons are far out of this range. Other primaries simply cannot compete. With a more Primary focused crucible, changes to these weapons are likely. These weapons are:
*Thorn - .36 seconds of engagement/~.9 seconds to kill
*TLW - .56 seconds to kill
*Hawkmoon - .4 to .7 seconds to kill
*Red Death - .67 seconds
Whether you disagree with nerfs or not, let me know what you think.
If you disagree with my prediction, let me know what you think will be nerfed.
Edit 1: For the most part, there has been a healthy discussion in the comments section. The crucible designers don't want a clear choice of what to use in PVP. With this next update, a more primary focused crucible will equate to a more exotic primary saturated crucible. Ice breaker and invective will be viable; however, that's it. Among the exotic primaries, if you're not using an exotic handcannon or a pulse rifle, such as red death, you're at a disadvantage. If handcannons aren't patched in 1.1.2, I believe it's inevitable that it will eventually happen.
Edit 2: Expect Auto rifles to be buffed back to pre 1.1.1 values.
Edit 3: I want to make it clear that I am also making this prediction from the amount of Crucible experience I have, coupled with developer trends. In the event that Exotic handcannons are not nerfed, expect these weapons to saturate the crucible and lessen weapon diversity.

Nerf will hit pulse rifles before hand cannons. Least ways that's what I think.
-
10 RepliesWell, if they nerf handcannons again I'm done with this game. PvP is the only thing my friends and I play because PVE is boring. If they take that away this game is trash.
-
Even with a nerd these guns would still be easily usable. Hawk moon doesn't need a nerd.
-
Hawkmoon takes at least 2 second to kill
-
1 ReplyRocket launchers - Nerf Snipers - Icebreaker, LDR, P&T -- hell all snipers - A nerf for everyone.
-
That's some booshit
-
Just play the game the way it was intended to be! If it's to op then play better!!!
-
2 Repliesplot twist, hc don't get nerfed and autos and suros nerfed by another 8%
-
"It's Nerf or Nothing!"
-
What they said was they'd limit high damage weapons.. Probably there talking about auto rifles cause no destiny patch is complete without an auto rifle nerf. Let's just hammer what's left of them into oblivion! But seriously.. I imagine they'll do to other weapon groups what they did to auto rifles last patch by scaling down high impact damage. Or they might just implement a damage cap which would suck, be utterly sloppy, and limit crucible weapon selection. We'll see what comes.
-
Hopefully they all get nerfed

Nooooooo THORN IS LOVE, THORN IS LIFE!

Hawk moon-potential 1 shot head kill Thorn-2 headshot guarantee kill TLW-fires with auto rifle speed and can 2 shot if both are hip head shots

I didn't interpret that statement to mean the exotic hand cannons. If they were nerfing the handcannons, they would have specifically said that in the update. My interpretation of the statement was that it was referring to the use of shotguns and snipers. Since special ammo is being nerfed, you can't use these weapons all game. They're the 'high damage weapons' in the game. I do think that Thorn, The Last Word, Hawkmoon and Red Death are the best primaries in the game, but I don't think they're going to nerf them. Handcannons already received a small nerf. Bungie like to nerf the whole class, rather than specific weapons. Pulse rifles were only just buffed.

4 RepliesI feel like TLW TTK is faster than Thorn's
-
Red Death, Thorn, and TLW are broken in Crucible (I'm on Xbox so I don't know about Hawkmoon) and they need nerfs.
-
2 RepliesAnother round of NERF. Way to go Bungie. Sometimes I wonder is NERF the best solution to seek balance? Why dont they think out of the box and instead of NERF, think of other solutions first. Every round of NERF, it takes away the fun of the game.
-
1 ReplyThey just need to stop messing with weapons. If they want to restore balance they should buff auto rifles back to their former glory.
-
This is not going to stop nerf post.
-
The last word doesnt need a nerf. It just needs it's terrible range stat to align with reality. It should be OP at close range as per its stats. The thing ducking crossmaps!!!!
-
2 RepliesAwe crap man I missed that part of the update and was just about to finally do the thorn bounty.
-
Holy shot hawkmoon is .4 to .7 seconds that's crazy as hell can't wait for it to come to Xbox lol
-
They need to stop listening to random crucible noobs. Every weapon has its pros and cons, its not the weapon, its always the player. If some1 headshots me with ANY handgun its fine, but if he's using a tlw/hawkmoon/thorn it must be nerfed because i dont have it! Cmon seriously. And bungie needs to stop butchering exotics. Suros is pityful now, but ok, there are several other spray and pray options.. Handguns at least require some skill to be perfected. What makes thorn slightly more powerful its the dot alone, this doesnt mean handguns as a cathegory are op .

Missed the ENTIRE portion of how they are lowering SPECIAL ammo drops did we ;) Seriously a sentence out of context is not a good premise to write a post on...
